Chapter 227 - Chapter 227: Riveria

[3rd POV]

The elf sat across from her with barely hidden discomfort on her face. It made it pretty clear to Wanda that Riveria was not stupid, and knew that the entity she was currently casually sitting with, could literally think and have her dead.

As unlike the Gods, the Primordials didn't limit their power, as they simply couldn't. Sure, they said they limited their power, but that was just to make people not freak out that there was nigh-omnipotent entities running around. Entities that could very easily end the lives of every God there was.

Not that they would do that, as it would take away from the fun. But still, it was a terrifying thought.

And that sort of entity was now sitting across from her. And unlike Ouranos, she was not hiding her power, and was openly using it. Therefore breaking more rules than she can even count, and basically giving Ouranos a giant middle finger.

She really hoped that a conflict would not break out from this. As she doubted that the world could survive a conflict between Primordials. And Orario would be the first of the cities to disappear in their battle.

"You really shouldn't be so afraid of me, Riveria. I may be a Primordial, but I am not an evil one. I said it before, didn't I?" Wanda said, noticing her open fear of her. Riveria couldn't hide it from her, no matter how hard that she tried.

And she wasn't trying. There was no point in covering up her emotions or anything like that, because this was a damn Primordial, and nothing she could ever do would hide her true feelings.

"...You do understand that it is difficult not to be afraid of an entity of your level of power, do you not?" Riveria asked, as Wanda chuckled.

"Oh I know, Riveria. But I also hope that you will get this fear of yours under control, so we can have some proper conversations. Plus, I feel that you should remember what I had said a few moments ago. Regarding what we should chat about" Wanda replied, giving her a small hum as Riveria looked confused.

The mention of what they had supposedly talked about earlier confused her. They hadn't really talked about anything important, and it was her that had said something about chatting.

But after a few moments of contemplation, she realized what Wanda was talking about, and she realized what she had said, as her eyes widened.

"Universe? You-you are from another universe?" Riveria asked, her fear growing by the second. She knew that other universes existed, as did many others. It wasn't really a kept secret that there was other universes out there. This being because of the Gods and their loose lips.

So they drop information sometimes, even when they don't mean to. Information like future events that they weren't supposed to know about, pieces of knowledge that is long lost, and ones like what Wanda had brought up.

Other universes.

There was supposedly an infinite amount of universes, with many of them being unknown to even the Gods. And said Gods only know a tiny bit about other universes thanks to alternate versions of themselves existing over there.

And when you have two of the same God/Goddess with the same line of divinity, you could technically connect even from afar. Not for long, in the case of the barriers between universes stopping it.

"I am. I believe it would be more accurate to say that I am from another multiverse, which is the name of all universes combined, which makes up a multiverse. From an infinite amount of multiverses, is an omniverse, and so on and so forth" Wanda said bluntly, not even bothering to hide the truth.

That was how the multiverse theory worked, and it was something that Riveria had only a small amount of knowledge on. Even the Gods didn't have most of that information. For they knew only that there was a specific amount of universes nearby, because they could bond or connect to them within reason. But after like 20 other universes?

They knew jack shit.

And even then, the connection to these universes was fragile at best, and you could barely send over a single thought due to how insanely slow it is, and how dangerous the act of traveling the multiverse is.

"...Should I be afraid that you are here to see me?" Riveria asked, as Wanda snorted.

"Riveria, honey, I did not come here to see you. I am to open a shop in Orario and just enjoy my life some more, helping out every once in a while wouldn't be bad. And this shop opens for anyone, so there isn't a worry as I wouldn't let you in here if I had bad intentions" Wanda replied to the woman, before continuing.

"Plus, no offense to you, but you are overestimating how much I care about you visiting my shop. I would acted the exact same way regardless of whether or not you came in. It could have been another God, or a normal mortal, and I would have acted this way" Wanda added, knowing that Riveria was really overestimating how much she cared about who she was.

That wasn't her fault though, as it was just the way that she was, thanks to the Gods and Loki. Riveria was treated differently than most others simply because she was a powerful adventurer with the most magical power in Orario. But again, that meant nothing to Wanda.

Riveria looked at her before sighing.

"Apologies, Miss Maximoff. It is just...it's not everyday you meet a Primordial. And it is not everyday you meet one that is so willing to break the rules that Ouranos had put into place" Riveria said after a few moments of thought.

"It's quite alright dear. And as said before, I am from another universe, so it wasn't really something you could know" Wanda replied, waving off her apologies.

"So...these magic systems, what are they? How are they different from the ones that I know?" Riveria asked, growing curious upon deciding that it was best not to continue fearing the primordial.

She could tell that Wanda would get annoyed.

"Hmm, well for one, many of them have no limits on the amount of spells that you can learn" Wanda said, making her eyes widen in shock.

In Danmachi, there was a sort of hard limit that one could get, and beyond that? They couldn't learn anymore. Riveria had a sort of cheat code that let her get beyond that thanks to one of her skills, but even that had a sort of limit, and was nothing compared to what Wanda was suggesting that she could teach.

"I-How many spells do you sell here?" Riveria asked, wide eyed.

"I believe it is well over 50 thousand at this point. As many of the books have hundreds of spells inside. And many more of those books are far larger inside than they look on the outside" Wanda replied, tapping her chin for a moment.

She had used her power to find that information out, as she had not known a few moments ago, having never seen the total count before that.

Riveria just stared at her silently, her jaw dropped and her eyes wide. If it this was a cartoon, her eyes would be popping out of their sockets comically.

She was shocked, rightfully so.

That was more spells than she had ever heard of. That was likely more spells than there was in their entire world. And it was all casually sitting in a nice little bookstore, ran by a Primordial from another universe.

Riveria wondered if she was in heaven or something. Because why else would she be in this absolute treasure trove of magical knowledge?

"I-H-How can I go about buying some of these books?"

"Through currency, exchange of equivalent value, or through directly allowing me to copy knowledge that you have in your head. Such as magical spells, techniques, knowledge about specific topics that may be of interest, etcetera" Wanda replied knowing that she had already got the woman.

That questions was basically just a formality.

"...Can I go speak with my Goddess and return?" Riveria said, realizing that this was bigger than her, and would need Loki herself stepping in.

"Of course! Do return with them, I'd love to get some new customers besides just you" Wanda replied, as she watched the woman leave quickly.

Watching her go, Wanda had one thought on her mind.

'I have a feeling this is going to be chaotic'
