Scarlett was in Idris's arms, she was screaming and crying holding where once her hand was, seeing the state her friend was, even Livia was shocked.
"Idris, m….my arm!!", she was crying.
While on top of them, the demon was laughing, his cackling sounds reverberating across the cavern. Till now Idris hadn't spoken a word, he was still taking it all in. he was unable to respond to Scarlett, what was he supposed to say 'Everything will be fine' when he himself was powerless right now?
Tears could be seen falling from his eyes, even he couldn't stop himself, he really cared for Scarlett and Livia. He apologized to her, slowly placing her near where Livia stood and he swiped off the tears.
"You to run away now, I can't let you get hurt anymore", he said as he summoned more of his spears," I will take this demon to hell if it's the last thing I do!!!". Saying so, he charged towards the demon not even waiting to hear an answer from the girls.
He quickly launched multiple spears towards the demon, slowly decreasing the distance between them, in his anger his mana had surged even more. The villagers could see the faint golden glow illuminating out of the mountain, that had been a death sentence for me. They prayed for the hero, so they finally be able to get rid of all the suffering.
On the other hand, Idris's situation wasn't good, though how much he was trying there was not much he was able to do. With only a few scratches, he was exhausted by now while the demon was fully rejuvenated.
"It is my fault and I will fix it myself", he thought," I should have used any other spear but I was being stupid there."
By now the demon was bored and so he used his sword slashing Idris's chest. Blood gushed out, and he fell down. " I was a failure as I was meant to be", he thought," at least they were able to run away", thinking about Scarlett and Livia.
But contrary to that, they still were there. The demon slowly lowered down to where Idris had fallen.
"Why haven't you run away!!", Idris screamed to them.
But they didn't hear his call, Scarlett against what he had ordered started running towards the inner part of the cavern, she ran from the side. The demon seeing this, got ready to attack her with his sword elongating it but it was stopped by a wall of ice. Livia was back in the battle. She started launching multiple arrows making a safe way for Scarlett while also stopping the demon from attacking her partymates.
The demon, annoyed by all this, stabbed Idris in his shoulder. He screamed in pain as the demon twisted the sword. But then the demon was pierced from behind. It was Scarlett. She had used one of Idris's spears, which hadn't fully faded, to attack the back of the demon, but due to only having one hand and not as much raw strength as Idris, the blade didn't pass through.
"You are still quite a hassle aren't you girl!!", said the demon as he turned to finish her off but that was when Idris released a huge amount of mana throwing the demon away.
Then carrying her back to where Livia was standing," Why didn't you run away!!", he shouted and that was when he noticed his injuries were starting to heal and that was when he realised why she ran. She was trying to retrieve the bracelet, placing it in her other hand to heal them.
"To help you, Idris", she said with tears in her eyes.
"We are a team or have you forgotten? We have promised to always be together", Livia added.
"We can't leave you. We will live together and die together, 'cause we love you, Idris", Scarlett said.
By now everything was clear to Idris, how stupid he was acting. The only reason they all had made it this far, was by the teamwork they had always shown. The devotion they had. Ever since the day they studied, so one day they may start the journey, these two have always been there with him, hand in hand against every opponent they faced.
"We will do anything for you", Livia said her voice starting to tear up too.
Still looking at them he gave a smile," Sorry about that, it was foolish of me to go all alone. When I have such capable companions."
The demon started to clap, "Bravo!!, I will start tearing up if you don't stop."
Idris now stood in front of Scarlett and Livia, "I have a plan but it won't work without help from you two."
Listening to this both of them smiled, "Right!!", they exclaimed.
With that he whispered something to them, and then suddenly Scarlett used enhancement magic on Idris, making him stronger and faster, with that he summoned multiple spears and charged at the demon.
"Not again", said the demon, but before he could say anything more, Idris closed the distance, SCarlett's magic made him much stronger, as the demon flew up, but Idris threw multiple of his Spears making a net of sorts, blocking the way. The demon even tried to break them with his sword, but just like Idris, they had become much more sturdy.
Idris then tried to attack the demon with his spears, but the demon blocked them with his sword, multiple different spears were used by now, and the demon could see the fatigue on Idris's face.
"For how long will you keep this up", he taunted.
But then something happened that confused the demon, Idris summoned the black spear, the one that saved the demon once. He didn't give much thought to it, just that he had slipped due to the fatigue, the demon just deflected it towards his stomach region, but then suddenly Idris switched the spear with another golden spear using it to pin the demon to the wall.
"What the hell!!", cried the demon.
"Livia Now!!!", screamed Idris.
And that was when the demon noticed the girls on the ground down below, till now Idris had taken up all his attention. That is when he saw, Scarlett was using her magic on Livia powering her while Livia used her bow with Idris's Sunfire spear on it, that was when he understood, that Idris was all just a distraction.
"No you can't!!", he screamed trying to free himself but being unable to, that was when Idris got near him and said," I told you, I will send you to hell", as he jumped away. As a golden light covers the whole region, Livia shoots the arrows that leave no trace of the demon's existence.
But before he is killed, the demon says laughing maniacally," It doesn't matter, you will die anyway. It took you so much to defeat me, what will you do when you fight those for whom I am just a housefly. There is no way for you. Only if I could have assimilated the soul orb than I would have been able to ascend to elite demon stage, and kill you all by my own hands, Dammit!!".
The villagers heard a thundering sound as the mountain that stood in front of them, collapsed into rubble, debris flying all over, for a moment they were scared but in a moment golden light covered the sky in a golden hue.
They went to check on the mineshaft, only broken stones were left all over and in between they finally saw, the heroes sitting, tired due to their escapades. They all just fell on the ground and started crying, they were finally out of the terror of that demon.
Later they took them all to their village, there was no celebration. It was a day filled with peace and sorrow, they were finally free but how could they forget whatever had happened, all the children they had lost?
On a side sat Idris lost in his thoughts, Scarlett was napping on one of his shoulders, clearly exhausted by what had happened, while Livia was gone to bring back porridge for them. Even now, the last words of the demon were going around his mind. He was right, the fight had shown that they were not at all strong, and if this demon was nothing in front of those other demons, that how strong they were.
"I will not die, I can't let myself die, I will find a way. I will become stronger", he said to himself," I will have to get Anushna for myself, the only person she loves should be me, that is the only way. I have to do whatever it takes, I will live!!!".
