A great number of prisoners had emerged from the gaping hole at the center of the city.
More were still climbing out of the breach, basking in the sunlight they thought they'd ever see again.
A large number of them had gathered around Vortigan, glaring at him with cruel intentions. But when they saw Adam's heroic figure descending toward them from the sky, they paused.
Everyone turned toward him. Some glanced at him with hope and gratitude, while others displayed open wariness and hostility.
A gaunt prisoner in tattered clothes stepped forward. He gathered the courage as he gazed at the Dark King's figure. The sun was directly behind him, creating a divine halo that surrounded his body.
"D-Did you… did you save us, my lord?" He asked, voicing the thoughts of countless others who stood beside him.
Adam's feet gently touched the ground. He scanned the faces of all the prisoners and offered them a faint, gentle smile.
"I did," he said.
