Vortigan truly hoped that the four-headed monster would be able to deal with the Dark King.
If he were being honest, a very small part of him also thought the Dark King would be able to survive the attacks of the monster, and even be able to vanquish it, no matter how far-fetched it seemed.
And that was exactly what happened.
The Dark King did come out victorious. Unbelievably so. For a brief moment, it seemed that he'd be the one to lose, to die at the hands of the berserk undead abomination. But in a shocking turn of events, he had, in the end, come out on top.
But regardless, victory came at a great cost. The Dark King was now heavily injured, and this was exactly the opportunity that Vortigan had been looking for.
Throughout the second-half of the battle, he had concealed his presence expertly through the use of an illusion artifact. He watched everything unfold, wide-eyed.
