"So many beastkin," Sally said in amazement. She saw many beastkin chatting and laughing with humans, which made her feel strange, incredibly strange.
After all, she didn't particularly like humans. She had seen too many beastkin bullied by humans. Now, seeing her fellow beastkin having such good relationships with humans felt unbelievable to her.
"Is this why it's called the City of Miracles?" Perry's perspective was a few levels higher than Sally's, allowing her to see the deeper significance.
Why could beastkin and humans live together in harmony? Why did humans no longer discriminate against beastkin? These two points alone made it feel like a miracle to her.
"Your Highness, what do we do now?" Sally felt a bit at a loss, feeling somewhat out of place.
"Relax, don't be too nervous," Perry quickly comforted her, knowing this was a shock to her worldview.
If one felt something was wrong, a sensitive person would feel that everyone around was looking at them weirdly. In reality, it was just a psychological suggestion. Sally was exactly like this right now.
Hoo, hoo... Sally took a few deep breaths, forcefully suppressing the urge to leave.
"Let's go to the castle first," Perry said helplessly. With no other choice but to visit Lucas at the castle, her original plan to stroll around the streets was dashed.
"Yes," Sally's entire body tensed up as she stuck close to Perry's side.
Step, step, step...
The two walked forward all the way. Over ten minutes later, they arrived at the castle gates. Just as they were about to ask the guarding knights to announce them, they saw two figures walking out of the castle gates.
"Gaba, how is your younger sister lately? I haven't seen her come to the castle," Annie asked in a crisp voice.
She was currently on her way to arrange for people to dig potatoes and harvest some of the early-ripening rice.
"Emma is learning new knowledge and writing manuscripts," Gaba replied softly.
"Bring her to the castle to play when you have time," Annie said softly, stepping out of the castle gates.
"Okay," Gaba replied.
"Huh? Someone's here?" Annie looked up at the gate. Upon seeing Sally, her eyes widened, and she shouted in surprise, "Little Monkey!"
"..." Sally, who had just opened her mouth to greet them, froze and rolled her eyes. She hated that nickname. After six years, she was hearing it again.
In the next second, Annie looked at the figure wearing a veil next to Sally and hesitantly called out, "Is it Big Sister Perry?"
"Annie?" Perry pulled down the linen cloth covering her face and asked in surprise, "Annie, why are you here?"
"It really is Big Sister! Why are you here?" Annie pounced forward happily, hanging onto Perry.
"Hehe... still like a child." Perry supported the fox-eared girl's perky buttocks with both hands and chuckled lightly. "You truly haven't changed a bit."
"Big Sister, where have you been all these years?" Acting just like a child, Annie hugged the lion-eared girl's neck, acting spoiled with a slightly tearful voice. "Wu... I, I missed you so much."
"I missed you too." Perry smiled, her eyes turning slightly red. She said softly, "After coming from the Valtoria kingdom, I moved around a few times and went to the Sahara."
"The Sahara?" Annie froze for a moment. She let go of the lion-eared girl's neck, sniffled her nose, and asked with red eyes, "Have you been living well there?"
"Very well. I didn't suffer much," Perry pursed her lips and spoke softly. "What about you? You're so clumsy; you must have suffered a lot."
"No, I'm doing very well," Annie quickly shook her head.
No matter who it was, when away from home, they would only report good news to their relatives and hide the bad, not wanting the other party to worry about them.
"Where is Freya? Why don't I see her?" Perry scanned the surroundings and asked, "Nothing happened to her, did it?"
"No, she went to study." Annie climbed down from the lion-eared girl, took Perry's hand, and pulled her toward the castle, saying, "She's amazing now, many times more amazing than Little Monkey."
"Your Highness Annie, I've been improving over these years too," Sally interjected indignantly. What? Was she really that bad?
"Alright, Annie, you always love to tease Sally," Perry smiled faintly, smoothing things over.
She, Sally, Annie, Bella, and Freya—the five of them had a very good relationship. She didn't really treat Sally and Freya as subordinate knights, but more like sisters.
It was just that everyone had a different way of getting along. Some bickered, some played around, and some engaged in battles of wits and courage...
"Hehe... Sally is still as hot-tempered as ever. She can't hold it in at all," Annie giggled.
"By the way, Annie, why are you here?" Perry asked with concern.
"I live in the castle now, helping the Master out," Annie said casually.
"Master???" Perry was stunned. A princess of a kingdom calling someone Master?
"Well, I'm no longer a princess anyway." Seeing the lion-eared girl's reaction, how could Annie not know why?
"Annie, what is your relationship with Lucas? Did he force you to do something?" Perry asked with a serious face.
She instantly thought of many things, especially the behavior of some human nobles, which made her feel disgusted and resentful.
"Forced? No, how could that be? The Master treats me incredibly well," Annie quickly waved her hands and shook her head, saying, "I'm living a great life now, even better than before in the royal palace."
"Really, he didn't?" Perry asked again, her eyes staring earnestly at the fox-eared girl's face, trying to see through any lies.
"Of course not," Annie said with certainty, her fox ears standing straight up.
"That's good." Perry breathed a sigh of relief, her tense lion tail relaxing. If anyone dared to hurt Annie, she would not hesitate to mobilize all the beastkin knights of the tribe to fight to the death.
