I adjusted my Jacket making sure it was were put right. My Apex Instinct was picking up the morning rush the rhythm of footsteps, lockers slamming, and students chatting about the upcoming weekend.
I headed toward the courtyard and saw Adrien sitting on a stone bench. He was staring at a digital tablet with a frustrated expression.
"Hey, Adrien," I said, stopping by the bench. "Everything alright?"
Adrien looked up and gave a tired smile. "It is just my schedule, Finn.
My father's assistant just sent the updates for the next two weeks. Fencing, Chinese lessons, piano practice, and three different photo shoots. I am trying to figure out when I am supposed to actually do my homework."
I looked at the screen. The calendar was packed with color-coded blocks from early morning until late at night.
"That is a lot for one person," I said, leaning against the wall. "When do you get time for yourself?"
"On the way from one thing to the next, I guess," Adrien sighed. He shut the tablet. "Sometimes it feels like I am just following a script."
I could smell the stress on him. It was a heavy, lingering exhaustion. I didn't want to overstep, so I kept it simple.
"If you need someone to help you look over those history notes later, let me know," I offered. "I am planning to be in the library after the final bell."
"Thanks, Finn. I might take you up on that," Adrien said, looking a bit more relaxed as we headed toward class.
The day moved quickly.
During the lunch break, I was heading toward the cafeteria when a massive, rhythmic pounding sound started coming from the street. The vibration shook the classroom windows. It was a high-frequency pulse that made my teeth ache.
My Sixth Sense gave a sharp, violent tug
I looked out the window and saw a giant figure made of television screens and speakers. It was walking down the street, blasting sound waves that were shattering glass on every street.
I headed for the empty locker room.
"Axel, call of the alpha!"
The silver light swept over me. As White Fang, the noise was intense, but my durability allowed me to push through the physical pressure of the sound waves.
I leaped onto the roof and saw Ladybug and Cat Noir trying to approach. The sound waves were physically pushing them back, making it impossible to get close.
The giant called himself The Broadcaster. He flicked a switch on a remote control clipped to his belt, and a focused blast of sound knocked Cat Noir off his feet.
I stayed completely silent on a nearby chimney. I didn't give away my position. I used my Apex Instinct to track the movement of the speakers. I noticed that the sound only fired from the front of the screens. There was a dead zone directly behind him.
I used my absolute silence power to nullify my own vibrations. I moved like a ghost, leaping from roof to roof until I was directly above the villain's back.
Ladybug saw me yeah, send her to make an distraction she used her Lucky Charm to create a pair of heavy-duty ear muffs. She gestured to Cat Noir, and they both lunged from the front as a distraction. The Broadcaster turned his full attention to them, charging up a massive sonic blast.
This was the opening. I dropped from the height, landing silently on the villain's metal shoulders. I didn't say a word. I reached down, grabbed the remote control from his belt, and crushed it in my hand.
The screens went dark and the noise cut out instantly. Ladybug caught the butterfly and purified it. The "Miraculous Ladybug" power repaired the shattered glass and cleared the streets immediately.
I met the team on top of a building. Now that the noise was gone, we could actually speak.
"That was impressive power, White Fang," Ladybug said, looking at the spot where I had just appeared. "Even with the silence after the blast, I didn't see you coming until you were on top of him."
"I just used the opening you gave me," I said.
I slipped back into the school and detransformed. A few minutes later, I found Adrien near his locker. He looked much more energized.
"Everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah," Adrien said, grabbing his bag.
"Actually, my piano teacher got stuck in the subway during the attack and called to cancel. Since the streets are clear now, he told me to just practice at home, but my father said I could have the hour off since the teacher isn't there."
I smiled. "A free hour? That is a rare win."
"Definitely," Adrien said. "I'm going to head to the park with Nino. Want to come?"
I shook my head. "I still have that history assignment to finish, but enjoy the sun while you can."
I headed toward the library, glad that the I could occasionally buy a friend a little bit of breathing room.
The story is going into hiatus I'm going to be back in April 23
