Chapter 1 - The Day That Didn’t Continue

The alarm rang at exactly 7:00 AM.

Rayan Ashar woke up like any other day.

Same ceiling. Same faint crack near the fan blade. Same dull morning light leaking through the curtains.

Everything felt normal.

Too normal.

He stared at the ceiling for a second longer than usual, then sighed and got up.

"Another boring day…" he muttered.

Outside, the city of Zareenabad was already alive.

Or at least it looked alive.

He brushed it off.

He didn't notice the first wrong thing until he stepped out.

A milkman stood in the street—hand raised mid-air, as if frozen while knocking on a door.

A cyclist was leaning slightly forward… but not moving.

A dog stood perfectly still, tongue out, eyes open.

Rayan stopped walking.

"…What the hell?"

Then—

the cyclist blinked.

Once.

Slowly.

And continued pedaling like nothing happened.

Rayan frowned.

"…Weird."

But he kept walking.

🏫 Zareenabad High School

School looked normal too.

Students laughing. Teachers shouting. Shoes scraping floors.

Normal noise.

Normal chaos.

Normal life.

That's what everyone thought.

But Rayan started noticing small things.

Subtle things.

Wrong things.

In his classroom, Usman Kadir was telling a joke.

Everyone laughed.

Rayan didn't hear it clearly.

Because he had heard the exact same joke yesterday.

Word for word.

Same hand gestures.

Same punchline.

Same laughter.

He froze slightly.

"…Didn't he say this already?"

He looked around.

No one reacted like anything was strange.

🔁 The First Loop

Math class.

Teacher Mr. Haris walked in, dropped his bag, and said:

"Take out your notebooks. We're continuing yesterday's exercise."

Rayan frowned.

Yesterday's exercise was completed.

He remembered submitting it.

Still, he opened his notebook.

The exact same problem was written again.

Same page number.

Same question.

Same incomplete solution.

His stomach tightened.

He turned slightly.

"Hey, Usman… didn't we already—"

Usman interrupted without looking up:

"Bro, stop stressing. It's just revision."

But Usman said it with the exact same tone as yesterday.

Even the pen click.

Even the chair scrape.

Everything matched.

Perfectly.

Rayan's heartbeat slowed.

Something was wrong.

Very wrong.

⏳ Déjà Vu That Isn't Déjà Vu

Lunch break.

The cafeteria was loud.

People queued for food.

Rayan stood in line behind Areeba Khan and Hamza Malik.

Hamza turned and said:

"Bro, you're spacing out again."

Areeba laughed.

Rayan blinked.

He had heard this too.

Not similar.

Identical.

He looked at Hamza closely.

"…Did you just say that?"

Hamza frowned.

"Say what?"

Areeba nudged him. "Ignore him, he's acting weird again."

Rayan stepped back.

His pulse rose.

This wasn't déjà vu.

This was repetition.

🌆 The City Outside School

He left school early.

He needed air.

But the street outside made his stomach drop.

The same man crossed the road.

Same timing.

Same stumble.

Same apology to nobody.

A bus passed.

Same horn.

Same timing.

Same woman dropping a paper bag.

Rayan's breathing became shallow.

"…No way."

He walked faster.

Then faster.

Then he stopped.

Because in front of him—

Usman Kadir was standing again.

At the exact same spot.

Smiling.

"Bro, where are you going in such a hurry?"

Rayan stepped back instantly.

"…You were just at school."

Usman tilted his head.

"School? We just left together."

Rayan's mouth went dry.

That wasn't possible.

He had literally just left him behind.

But Usman's expression… his voice… everything was correct.

Too correct.

Like a recording playing again.

🔁 The Break in Reality

Rayan turned around.

Walked back toward school.

Fast.

People around him moved normally.

But something inside the world felt stuck in rhythm.

Like everything was repeating just slightly off sync.

He reached the school gate.

And froze.

Areeba Khan was entering.

Hamza Malik behind her.

Usman laughing.

All of them—

again.

Same entrance.

Same timing.

Same conversation starting.

Rayan stepped backward slowly.

"…This isn't normal."

Areeba passed him.

Didn't look at him.

Hamza passed him.

Didn't look at him.

Usman passed him.

Didn't look at him.

Like he wasn't there.

Like he never entered the frame this time.

Rayan turned sharply.

The street behind him flickered.

Just for a second.

Like a bad video.

And then—

Usman was standing beside him again.

"Bro, you're acting really strange today."

Rayan finally snapped.

"STOP IT!"

People around turned slightly.

Confused.

But no one understood why he shouted.

Because to them—

nothing had changed.

🌑 Ending of Chapter 1

Rayan backed away slowly.

His voice shook.

"…What is happening to my day?"

Usman smiled faintly.

Not mocking.

Not kind either.

Just… repeating.

"Maybe your day is just stuck."

A wind passed.

But only Rayan felt it.

And for half a second—

the entire street froze again.

Mid-motion.

Mid-breath.

Mid-life.

Then everything continued.

Like nothing happened.

Rayan stood alone in the middle of a world that refused to move forward.

And for the first time—

he realized the terrifying truth:

He was the only one remembering yesterday.
