"Tell me you've got something useful this time," I said, slamming the office door behind me that afternoon.
The three elders were already waiting. Sorin and Petra sat at the table while Maren stood by the window. I dropped into my chair and glared at them.
Sorin spoke first. "Reid felt the atmosphere of the seal, but it did not respond to him. This is better than we feared, but less clear than we hoped. We believe that the chain link appears to be pulling some of that connection away from the seal and toward Elise."
Petra added, "That may be why the seal stayed quiet when he stepped onto the land."
I let out a sharp breath. "Okay, so that's a good thing, right? We're all still standing here, the pack hasn't turned into a giant crater, so we can officially say the seal is still sealed and my wolf is still locked up in whatever fucking nightmare box it's been in for ten years. Yeah?"
"For now, it seems like it," Petra said.
