THE ROLE BREAKER
CHAPTER 3: The Shadow Queen's Ego
Part 1: The False Alarm
Inside the clinical chill of the medical room, the silence was so absolute that the mechanical 'tick-tick' of the wall clock echoed loudly, almost mimicking the frantic racing of Diya's pulse. Ketero stood rigid, his grip tightening around his light blade as every single muscle in his body braced for a collision.
Khang! Khang!
The heavy metallic footsteps ground to a sudden halt just outside the door. Ketero held his breath, his eyes locked dead onto the handle. Suddenly, the door swung open, and two staff members walked in carrying boxes of medical supplies. They stopped in their tracks, visibly startled to find Ketero standing guard and Diya sitting wide-eyed on the examination bed.
"What are you two doing in here?" one of the staff members questioned, raising an eyebrow.
With a swift, practiced flick of his wrist, Ketero deactivated the light blade. The glowing energy instantly vanished into thin air, and he tucked his hands behind his back before they could notice anything unusual. He let out a long, deliberate breath to steady his voice. "Oh, nothing... the nurse told us to wait here. Everything is fine, we were just leaving."
Without waiting for a response, they quickly brushed past the staff and hurried out. Once they reached the safety of the long college corridor, Diya turned to Ketero, her voice a low whisper. "Were we just overthinking things?" Ketero exhaled a heavy sigh. "Maybe... but it's better to be paranoid than dead."
Part 2: The Spider-Man Hustle
They walked out of the building into the open air. Diya sighed heavily, looking distressed. "What are we going to do now? We got totally messed up back there." Ketero looked down, a wave of guilt hitting him. "I'm sorry. It's all because of me. If I hadn't acted suspicious, we wouldn't have run into this mess." Diya dismissed it with a wave of her hand. "Hey, it doesn't matter whose fault it is now. What matters is, how do we fix this? I'm a person of science, I don't know the first thing about any of this supernatural stuff." Ketero paused, a reluctant look crossing his face. "We are going to have to seek help from the one person I absolutely despise dealing with. He is incredibly annoying." Diya blinked in curiosity. "Who is it?" Ketero groaned. "My uncle. We need to go to my uncle's place."
With their destination set, they hurried out of the school gates and headed straight for the train station. However, the moment they stepped onto the platform, they saw the train already pulling away, gathering speed. Ketero watched the departing train, and a sudden, mischievous smile spread across his face. He turned to Diya. "Hold on tight." Diya gasped, completely caught off guard. "What do you mean by—"
There was no time to lose; they had to reach Uncle Rudra as fast as possible. Before she could finish her sentence, Ketero shot his hands forward, releasing the vibrant 'Neon Threads' from his palms. He wrapped one arm securely around Diya's waist, launched himself forward, and like an expert Spider-Man, swung through the air, landing perfectly on the roof of the very last train compartment.
"Are you completely insane?! What if we had fallen off?!" Diya screamed over the rushing wind, though she was gripping Ketero's jacket with white knuckles, refusing to let go.
"Just enjoy the ride, boss! The mission takes priority!" Ketero shouted back, flashing a confident grin.
Part 3: The Uncle's Sanctum
Uncle Rudra's estate was located far from the chaotic pulse of the city, perched high upon a secluded hill. It was an ancient, massive bungalow that bore the striking architecture of an old-world mansion.
"Your uncle is this rich?" Diya asked, her eyes scanning the grand siding and the imposing structure of the estate.
"He is a spiritual consultant, Diya. Corporate giants and high-profile politicians come to him for advice," Ketero explained as he led the way inside.
However, the moment they descended into the underground lab, Diya's perspective shifted entirely. The space was a bizarre mix of the mystical and the chaotic—prayer plates, kumkum, strings of lemon and green chilies, and sacred threads inscribed with verses lay scattered across the tables. To Diya, a rational mind, it all looked like superstitious nonsense. But her skepticism shattered when Uncle Rudra finally walked in. He looked incredibly young and effortlessly cool, looking more like Ketero's older brother than an uncle.
"Uncle, how do you manage to look so young?" Diya asked, completely astonished.
Rudra smiled warmly, adjusting his posture. "Spiritual science, child. We simply operate on a soul-frequency level."
As the conversation shifted to serious matters, Rudra listened intently to the details of Diya's 'Heart-Leach' phenomenon and her devastating 'Overheat Mode'—the pink, shape-shifting entity. His expression turned grave. He explained that this power belonged to one of the "Seven Queens of Ancient Folklore." The Queen was legendary for her unmatched beauty and her terrifying ability to alter her form, but history also remembered that her overinflated ego was her ultimate undoing.
Part 4: The Ego Trap
Rudra reached into a drawer and pulled out an ancient, intricately carved 'Silver Pendant', handing it over to Ketero. "Put this around Diya's neck. It will act as a stabilizer and keep her frequency under control."
But containment was only half the battle. The real challenge lay in drawing the Organ Man out into the open again.
"He is a very ancient, intensely egoistic spirit," Rudra explained, his tone dropping to a serious whisper. "If you try to take him head-on in a standard fight, he will tear you apart. You cannot match his brute force. Instead, you must strike at his pride. You have to hurt his ego. Challenge him, bait him, and show him that you possess the one thing he desperately craves—Diya's 'Overheat' power."
Before they wrapped up, Rudra pulled Ketero aside, leaning in closely to whisper into his ear. "Protecting her is entirely your responsibility now. When she enters that Overheat mode, she completely loses her sanity and self-control. You must maintain a protective barrier around her at all costs."
Ketero glanced back at Diya, who was sitting a few feet away, quietly digesting everything they had discussed. Sensing the underlying tension, Rudra gave them a playful wink and a knowing smirk as he began to walk out of the room. "Have fun, kids."
Ketero's face instantly flushed crimson. "Uncle, stop being ridiculous!"
