THE ROLE BREAKER

CHAPTER 2: The Core and The Cyber-Glitch

Part 1: The Midnight Escape – Fear and Aura

Delhi feels different at night.

After the chaos of the day fades away, the old streets sink into a silence that looks peaceful from the outside… but hides something unsettling underneath.

Under the dim yellow streetlights, Ketero and Diya walked through the empty road with unsteady steps after escaping the Haunted House.

Ketero's condition was terrible.

The excessive use of his spiritual energy had clearly damaged his body. His breathing was heavy, his legs trembled, and the confidence he showed while chanting mantras earlier had almost disappeared.

"Ketero, careful," Diya said as she supported him with her shoulder.

Ketero forced a weak smile.

"I'm fine… It's just… that place felt wrong."

Suddenly, barking echoed from the corner of an abandoned alley.

In Delhi, stray dogs were normal. But tonight, their behavior felt strange.

It was as if they weren't barking at humans… but at something unnatural standing among them.

A large black dog slowly stepped forward and growled.

Ketero instantly moved behind Diya.

"D-Diya… look at that thing…"

Diya took a deep breath.

The same strange energy from the Haunted House awakened inside her again.

It wasn't heat. It wasn't emotion.

It felt like a frequency glitching through her entire body.

Her hair slowly turned bright pink, flickering unnaturally like a corrupted screen. Two glowing horns emerged from her forehead as a neon aura surrounded her body.

The dogs froze in fear.

Diya looked directly into their eyes. Her voice became distorted and heavy.

"Leave."

The frequency released from her body was enough.

The dogs immediately ran away without looking back.

Ketero stared at her in complete shock.

"Diya… your hair…"

As soon as her anger faded, the transformation disappeared. Her hair returned to normal, and the glowing horns vanished.

But then—

A sharp pain exploded inside her head.

Diya grabbed her forehead tightly.

"It hurts…"

Fragments of memories flashed through her mind before fading into darkness.

"Ketero…" she whispered weakly. "Every time I enter that form… it feels like I lose something important."

Ketero's expression turned serious for the first time that night.

Part 2: The Secret Junkyard Lab – The Truth of Science

The two finally reached the hidden basement behind Diya's house.

From the outside, it looked like nothing more than an abandoned storage room.

But the moment they stepped inside, Ketero accidentally kicked an old metal box across the floor.

CLANG!

"Ketero!" Diya snapped immediately.

"Sorry," he replied awkwardly. "I didn't do it on purpose."

Diya walked toward the wall and flipped several switches.

The basement suddenly lit up.

Ketero's eyes widened.

The room was massive.

Broken machines, wires, computer parts, robotic arms, engines, monitors, and strange electronic devices covered every corner of the lab.

Several screens displayed live data streams:

city signal frequencies

electromagnetic patterns

strange energy graphs

CCTV feeds from different parts of Delhi

Ketero slowly turned toward her.

"You built all of this?"

Diya crossed her arms proudly.

"This is my Core State research lab."

She walked toward a monitor showing distorted frequency waves.

"I used to believe everything could be explained through science," she continued. "But what happened inside that Haunted House broke every rule I knew."

She opened a small notebook filled with handwritten observations.

> Transformation 01: Memory Loss Detected

Heartbeat Anomaly Detected

Ketero stared at the notes silently.

Diya looked directly at him.

"Your spiritual powers… and my science…"

She paused.

"We need to combine them."

Ketero frowned slightly.

"You really think both worlds are connected?"

Diya looked back at the glowing frequency graph.

"I don't know yet."

Her expression darkened.

"But I know one thing."

She slowly closed the notebook.

"The Organ Man was only the beginning."

Part 3: The Morning Rush – College Pressure

The next morning, panic replaced exhaustion.

8:15 AM.

The moment Diya looked at the digital clock, her face went pale.

"We're dead."

Ketero blinked.

"What happened?"

"Attendance starts at 8:30! If we're late today, the principal will personally report us."

The two rushed toward college as fast as possible.

When they finally reached the front gate, they froze.

The principal and several teachers were standing there checking every student entering the campus.

"We can't go through the front gate," Diya whispered.

Ketero looked toward the tall boundary wall nearby.

"There's another way."

He raised his hand slowly.

Golden spiritual energy began forming around his fingers like glowing threads of light.

The threads twisted together and transformed into a solid glowing rope.

Diya stared at it in disbelief.

"That's impossible…"

"My grandmother taught me this technique," Ketero explained. "Spiritual energy can become physical if the focus is strong enough."

He threw the glowing rope toward the rooftop railing above.

The rope attached instantly.

"Hold on."

Ketero grabbed Diya's arm, and both of them were pulled upward through the air.

A few seconds later, they landed safely on the rooftop terrace behind the school building.

As soon as they touched the ground, the glowing rope disappeared into particles of light.

The two quietly entered the building through the back corridor before anyone noticed them.

Part 4: The Ticking Heart – Terror Inside the Medical Room

During PT class, the students were forced to complete a stamina test around the sports ground.

Ketero and Diya exchanged tired looks.

Neither of them had enough strength left for this.

The whistle blew.

Students immediately began running.

Ketero secretly enhanced his legs with spiritual energy, dramatically increasing his speed.

At the same time, Diya activated a weaker version of her "Pink Overheat" state internally, boosting her reflexes and movement speed.

The two quickly overtook everyone else.

"You're still too slow," Diya smirked while running beside him.

Ketero laughed weakly.

"Says the girl who almost collapsed walking yesterday."

But then—

Diya's foot slipped against the edge of the track.

She crashed onto the ground hard.

Blood immediately appeared around her knee.

"Diya!"

Ketero rushed toward her without hesitation.

Ignoring the shocked reactions from the other students, he lifted her into his arms and carried her directly toward the medical room.

Inside, the school nurse quickly began examining her injuries.

Then she placed a stethoscope against Diya's chest.

A few seconds passed.

The nurse's expression slowly changed.

Confusion.

Then fear.

She adjusted the stethoscope and checked again.

Nothing.

"K-Ketero…" the nurse muttered nervously. "Her pulse exists…"

She looked at Diya with pale eyes.

"But I can't hear a heartbeat."

The room suddenly felt freezing cold.

Ketero slowly placed his hand over Diya's chest.

Silence.

No heartbeat.

Diya's eyes trembled.

"Ketero…"

Her voice broke.

"If my heart isn't beating…"

She looked terrified.

"Then what am I becoming?"

Before Ketero could answer—

Khang…

A metallic sound echoed from the hallway outside.

Khang… Khang…

Something heavy was slowly approaching the medical room.

Ketero's expression darkened instantly.

Golden spiritual energy gathered around his hand as a glowing blade formed from pure light.

He stepped protectively in front of Diya.

"He's back."

The metallic footsteps stopped outside the door.

Ketero tightened his grip on the energy blade.

"This time," he said coldly, "we're ending this curse.
