Chapter 2 - The first time I Fell for you

"The First Time I Fell for You"

It was the first day of college when everything changed.

Riya walked into the classroom, nervous and quiet, clutching her notebook like it was her only shield. She had always been the kind of girl who stayed in the background—never too loud, never too noticed.

And then there was Arjun.

Confident, charming, and surrounded by people. He laughed easily, spoke freely, and seemed like he belonged everywhere Riya felt she didn't.

Their worlds were never meant to collide.

But sometimes, life writes its own stories.

It happened during a group assignment.

"Riya, you'll work with Arjun," the professor said casually.

Her heart skipped.

Arjun? That Arjun?

He walked over with a relaxed smile. "Hey, partner."

She nodded, barely managing a "Hi."

At first, their conversations were awkward. Riya kept things short, afraid of saying something wrong. But Arjun was different from what she had imagined. He was patient, kind, and surprisingly attentive.

"You don't talk much, do you?" he asked one day.

"I do… just not easily," she replied.

"Then I'll wait," he said simply.

And somehow, that made all the difference.

Days turned into late-night chats about assignments, which slowly turned into conversations about life, dreams, and fears.

Riya started opening up.

For the first time, she laughed freely, without worrying about how she looked or sounded. Arjun listened like every word she said mattered.

And that's when it happened.

That quiet, unfamiliar feeling.

The kind that made her heart race when she saw his name on her phone.

The kind that made ordinary moments feel special.

Riya was falling in love—for the first time.

But first love is never easy.

One afternoon, she saw Arjun laughing with another girl. They seemed close—too close. Something inside her tightened.

That night, she couldn't sleep.

Why does it hurt so much? she wondered.

She realized then—this wasn't just friendship anymore.

It was something deeper.

Something fragile.

Something terrifying.

A few days later, Arjun noticed her silence.

"You've been avoiding me," he said gently.

"I haven't," she replied, looking away.

"You have," he insisted. "Did I do something wrong?"

She hesitated, her heart pounding. This was it—the moment she had feared.

"No," she said softly. "I just… I think I need some space."

Arjun looked confused, but he nodded. "If that's what you need."

Distance only made things clearer.

Riya missed him.

His voice, his presence, even his silly jokes.

And she realized something important—first love isn't just about happiness. It's about courage.

The courage to feel.

The courage to risk.

The courage to speak the truth.

So one evening, she called him.

"Can we meet?" she asked.

They met at the college garden, where everything had once felt so simple.

"I'm sorry," she began. "I was scared."

"Of what?" he asked.

"Of this," she said, her voice trembling. "Of how much you mean to me."

Arjun stayed silent, listening.

"I've never felt this way before," she continued. "And I didn't know what to do with it. But I know now… I don't want to run away."

She took a deep breath.

"I like you, Arjun. Maybe more than I should."

For a moment, the world felt still.

Then Arjun smiled—not the casual smile she knew, but something softer, more real.

"I was wondering how long it would take you to say that," he said.

Riya blinked. "What?"

"I like you too, Riya," he said. "I just didn't want to rush you."

Her heart felt like it might burst.

"Really?" she whispered.

"Really," he replied.

That was the beginning of her first love.

It wasn't perfect.

They argued, misunderstood each other, and made mistakes.

But they also learned.

They learned how to trust, how to forgive, and how to grow—not just as a couple, but as individuals.

Riya was no longer the girl who stayed invisible.

And Arjun? He found something he never expected—someone who understood him beyond his laughter.

Years later, when Riya looked back, she smiled.

Because first love isn't always about forever.

Sometimes, it's about becoming.

Becoming braver.

Becoming stronger.

Becoming someone who knows how to love.

And no matter where life took them, one thing remained true—

You never forget your first love. ❤️
