"An alien?"

Rimuru shook her head. "You're wrong—I'm a true Earthling."

Natasha smiled faintly. "So you're telling me your blue hair is dyed, your golden eyes are just colored contacts, and your abilities are… magic?"

"Of course not. Do you know what a parallel universe is?" Rimuru replied.

"A parallel universe?"

"Yes. Due to the instability described in quantum mechanics, many scientists speculate that since every quantum can exist in different states, there isn't just one universe, but multiple similar ones. In the past, whether parallel universes existed was uncertain—even to me. But now, I'm completely sure."

Natasha fell into thought. She hadn't been certain before, but now she understood—Rimuru was claiming she came from a parallel Earth?

"And you expect me to believe that? I don't think humans from a parallel Earth would have superpowers."

Rimuru gazed into the distance and said sadly, "That's because you don't know what we went through."

Natasha's curiosity was piqued. "Can you tell me more?"

"In our universe, the star system where Earth is located has three suns. Their movements are extremely irregular, causing hundreds of civilizations to be destroyed and reborn."

"When all three suns approach perihelion at the same time, temperatures skyrocket, rivers dry up, and life is wiped out. When all three move to aphelion, global temperatures plummet, the oceans freeze, and an ice age begins."

"Only when the positions of the three suns are just right can life restart and civilization rebuild. To survive such extreme conditions, humans on Earth evolved."

Natasha snapped out of it, stunned. "Three suns? Are you telling me a sci-fi story?"

Three suns in a solar system—unbelievable!

Still, her professional instincts held her back from interrupting. Instead, she asked, "What kind of evolution?"

Even though she suspected flaws in Rimuru's story, she keenly caught the key word—evolution.

This was a perfect opportunity to gather information about Rimuru's abilities.

Rimuru didn't hesitate and instantly transformed into her slime form.

"Huh?"

Looking at the soft, blue, jelly-like blob in front of her, Natasha's eyes widened in shock.

One moment she was a beautiful girl, the next—a small blue sphere.

Was she dreaming?

Natasha couldn't help but reach out and poke it. The moment her finger touched it, her heartbeat skipped.

It was so soft and elastic—she almost wanted to hug it.

Wait… she was a highly trained agent. Why would she think that?

Was this some kind of charm ability?

Suppressing the urge to squeeze it, Natasha asked, "Is this what you mean by evolution?"

It looked more like degeneration—no limbs, no features, just a soft blob.

Rimuru coughed lightly and continued her "explanation."

"To survive extreme environments, humans developed various abilities. For example, resistance to temperature changes. With this, external temperature no longer affects our living conditions."

"Temperature resistance?!"

Natasha's eyes widened again. Could humans really do that?

But thinking about the three suns, she found it oddly plausible.

"That's right. Natural selection—survival of the fittest. Nature is cruel."

Natasha was speechless. It felt like, "This makes sense… and yet I have nothing to say."

She had completed many missions, but this one was by far the strangest.

This sounded straight out of science fiction.

"Is there more?" she asked.

"Of course. Water is the source of life. Without water, how could we survive? When the three suns reach perihelion, all water evaporates and Earth becomes completely dry. So, to survive, humans had to store water. Normally, even a single drop wouldn't make it to the ocean!"

Natasha rolled her eyes, feeling her intelligence being insulted.

"If the Earth dries up completely, how do you store water? Bury tanks in the planet's core?"

"With ordinary thinking, you won't understand. Life is the greatest miracle. Philosophers were right—humans are driven to survive, and their potential is limitless. To adapt to extreme drought, our stomachs evolved!"

"What?"

Natasha nearly choked. Their stomachs evolved?

"You're kidding, right?"

Rimuru said seriously, "To survive in dry eras, we store water in our stomachs ahead of time. You probably won't believe me, so I'll show you."

"What?! You can prove that?"

Before she could fully process it, Natasha somehow found herself standing by the pool with Rimuru.

Back in human form, Rimuru stretched her arms. "Always be prepared. To deal with drought, I stored half a lake in my stomach. I wanted more, but there wasn't enough water."

Pfft—

Rimuru opened her mouth and sprayed water out.

In less than ten minutes, the entire pool was filled.

Natasha was completely stunned.

This… was real?!

Was her stomach connected to another dimension?

She even reached out to check—it was real water.

Was this some kind of advanced procedure?

Was human potential really that limitless?

Couldn't that cause a food crisis?

Even long after the "demonstration," Natasha couldn't calm down.

Then she suddenly realized a flaw.

"Wait. There aren't three suns in this solar system. So you're not from Earth at all!"

Rimuru looked up at the starry sky, a trace of sadness in her eyes.

"That… is an even sadder story."

"A hundred generations ago, our solar system had only one sun. Humanity thrived and civilization prospered—until one day, the sun rapidly aged, and Earth was no longer habitable."

"Facing extinction, the United Earth Government launched the 'Wandering Earth' project. Humanity took the planet itself and fled the solar system. The journey lasted 2,500 years, spanning 100 generations."

"But no one expected that our new home—four light-years away—would have three suns."

Natasha: "…"

If every human on Earth saw those three suns, they'd probably raise a middle finger at the sky and shout:

"Damn you, suns!"
