Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 S.H.I.E.L.D. in Action

At first, due to Rimuru's "age," she was not capable of independently purchasing property.

But with money, the impossible becomes possible.

Moreover, Rimuru still relied on her big boss Tony Stark, so nothing she did was ever truly independent.

Those with perseverance will always have perseverance. The Chinese people's obsession with property ownership was something beyond imagination.

With a place to settle down, Rimuru felt more real than ever. Especially after completing her goal of creating weapon girls, she felt that life had meaning.

Settling down was never easy. Although Pepper had heard about the villa purchase long ago, she still sent Jenny to assist.

But Rimuru's sudden move still caused quite a commotion.

Even Tony Stark believed that a quarrel between them had caused Rimuru to angrily move out, and he even specifically apologized to her.

This left Rimuru stunned, though she was somewhat moved inside.

Honestly, the villa was far too large, making it feel especially cold and empty.

However, Rimuru was not someone who would feel sentimental over seasonal loneliness. To be honest, she was already used to it.

What are humans afraid of?

As long as there is internet and a fictional waifu to "simp" over, even if you're thrown alone on the moon eating instant noodles every day, you can still live just fine.

Yes—her survival ability was far too strong!

However, the top priority now was to create artificial intelligence.

She could not yet meet the hardware requirements for weapon girls, but she could prepare the software side in advance.

She had always wanted a capable butler like JARVIS!

With the Great Sage present, JARVIS's core programming held no secrets for Rimuru.

After activating auto mode, the Great Sage directly took control of her body.

Tap tap tap!

Rimuru's fingers flew across the keyboard. Code on the screen rapidly increased at a visible speed.

Anyone witnessing this scene would likely worship her as the god of computers.

Even top hackers would feel ashamed—and might even want to die.

However, even the Great Sage was still somewhat limited, and auto mode had its flaws.

Rimuru's slime body could rotate cells to rest, so she never truly got tired.

But after working for a while, she still chose to take breaks.

Eat, drink, have fun, chase fandoms, spend money, play games, and pilot Gundams—

If she had lived like this in her previous life, she probably would have woken up laughing in her sleep.

But now?

Eh… Rimuru felt everything had become somewhat dull.

The technology tree of the Marvel universe was too distorted. Tony Stark had already developed weak AI systems, and holographic projection technology was highly mature.

Yet smartphones were still in their early stages, and the failed "Neckphone 1" had only just been released.

Most importantly, all the games she loved in her previous life were unavailable.

Even if she wanted to make money, she couldn't find good ways to do so, which left Rimuru quite frustrated.

Even cross-series media could only be considered commentary content at best. As for watching shows—haha, forget it.

The only comfort she had was that she now had more interesting toys, such as the Wind God mech and the upcoming AI system, which gave her hope for the future.

Meanwhile, inside S.H.I.E.L.D., chaos was unfolding.

Coulson and many agents stood in a line, heads lowered, desperately wishing they could find a crack in the ground to hide in.

Not only had they failed their mission—they had even needed their superior to bail them out of a police station. It was utterly humiliating.

When they learned the reason for their detention—"damaging the city's image and corrupting public morality"—everyone felt even more ashamed. Coulson in particular was furious, nearly suffering internal bleeding from rage.

This was too unfair. He didn't have that kind of hobby—his favorite person was Captain America!

He was a good man, but even good men have tempers, and he also cared about his dignity!

"Tell me, what exactly happened?"

Coulson looked up and felt Director Fury's expression growing darker and darker.

The problem was—he himself didn't even know what had happened.

Even if he wanted to explain, he had nothing to say.

Bang!

Nick Fury slammed his hand on the table.

"What happened? Are you all mute?!"

Fury was furious. As the king of agents, he had never been humiliated like this by his own subordinates.

They had been sent to investigate a suspected alien girl, yet they were suddenly arrested for misconduct and taken to a police station.

He recalled the days he fought alongside Captain Marvel against the Skrulls and Kree—carrying a cat named Goose, fighting from a video rental store to the subway, from the subway to military bases, and even into outer space.

He had single-handedly dismantled Kree soldiers with ease, showcasing Earth's power and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s strength.

Yet now Coulson had been completely humiliated by a blue-haired little girl—and they still didn't even know if she was an alien.

S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were getting worse and worse. It seemed his Super Soldier initiative would have to be accelerated.

Just as Nick Fury was complaining that Coulson was the worst class of agents he had ever trained, Melinda walked in with a stack of documents.

"Director, the blood test results are out. They show traces of ether-like compounds in Agent Coulson's blood. This suggests they were indeed exposed to a sedative drug."

"According to their reports, they did not smell anything unusual before losing consciousness. It appears to be a new type of colorless, odorless anesthetic."

After hearing this, Coulson and the other agents exchanged glances.

They really had been taken down by drugs.

How humiliating—elite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents defeated by a sedative administered by a little girl.

And in a sealed subway car, no less.

"According to surveillance footage," Melinda continued, "there was a five-minute gap between the agents losing consciousness and the train arriving at the next stop. This means Rimuru can hold her breath for at least seven minutes."

"From this, we can conclude that Rimuru is clearly not an ordinary Earth human. She is highly likely to be an alien. Of course, we cannot rule out immunity to anesthetics."

"Additionally, surveillance shows that while there were no mistakes in the agents' approach, when their number reached seven, Rimuru frowned—she likely noticed something. This suggests her perception ability is extremely sharp."

"After noticing something unusual, her gaze shifted repeatedly, though she was still uncertain. But when she saw Director Coulson, she couldn't help but smile."

"In other words, through Coulson, Rimuru confirmed the identities of all agents."

After hearing Melinda's analysis, Coulson was completely stunned.

Especially when he saw Director Fury's meaningful gaze, he suddenly felt like his career was doomed.

He is not a traitor!

Coulson immediately defended himself: "Director, I request a truth serum test!"

Fury waved his hand.

"I believe you are not a traitor. But there is no doubt—your cover has been blown. Let it go. You've worked hard this time. Go rest."

Coulson stood frozen in the wind, speechless and alone.

Was he being sidelined?!

What puzzled him most was how his identity had been exposed in the first place.

After seeing so many agents, Rimuru began to wonder if mind-reading actually existed in this world.

She confirmed their identities instantly upon seeing them—was she really that experienced?

Coulson rubbed his hair, noticing his receding hairline had gotten worse.

Maybe… he really was getting old.

The stage of a middle-aged man—resorting to goji berries in a thermos cup.
