Nyx Vespera stood in the center of the dimly lit command warehouse. She did not ask for permission. She simply stated her intention with chilling confidence.
"I am going."
She was a Phantom Queen. She had melted into shadows and bypassed elite security grids before. She was the obvious choice to slip through the newly discovered gap in the sewer line and deliver the message to the underworld smuggling network established by Sirius Statanham.
Draven Mordis looked down at the crude, hand-drawn map of the drainage pipes.
"No."
Nyx narrowed her dark eyes. She stepped out of the shadows, her void-steel daggers gleaming in the faint candlelight. "I am the only operative here who can navigate a besieged perimeter undetected. I have done exactly this in Bastion One. General Marek's guards will never see me."
