"I apologize for making you wait; I grabbed my career books and look," y/n said. "Is that the novel you were so excited to get?" Jin asked. "Yes, it is. You have no idea how hard I fought for that." "Fight for it?" "It was between a girl and me for the novel, but I was there first. First come, first serve." "You got me there; I thought you meant you had a physical fight with her." "Jin, you overthink too much," y/n said while giving Jin a pat on the head.
Jin and y/n found a seat and sat there.
Y/n began to open her career books one at a time and took notes in her notebook.
"Material science? I thought you were pursuing business management at Yonsei University?" Jin asked quietly, noticing the title of the book. "Business management was my initial choice, influenced by my mom, but during my last year of middle school, I realized it wasn't the right path for me. It's uncommon to find women in material science, particularly as aerospace engineers," y/n replied softly. "So, you're studying material science?" "Yes."
"If I'm right, you're planning to go to POSTECH?" "You're completely right." "I heard that university is pretty competitive." "I am aware that it is quite competitive; I did my research and learned all about it. I'm delighted it isn't as pricey as Yonsei University. But I have the smarts since I've always been interested in space and technology." "Now that you mention it, I remember we visited that space museum with the school, and you were so happy." "You noticed my happiness?" "Yes, your eyes sparkled like the stars in the sky."
After hearing this, y/n felt a little shy but tried to ignore it, though Jin noticed and kept quiet.
"Well, well, look who it is," Taehyung said as he approached Jin and y/n. "Tae, what are you doing here?" Jin asked, puzzled. "What? Can't a guy just be a regular person picking up some books?" Taehyung replied. "Books? You mean the ones for acting?" y/n said, not making eye contact with Taehyung as she jotted down some notes.
"That's right, y/n," Taehyung said with a grin. "Acting books? Are you going back to acting? What about your music and solo album?" Jin asked angrily. "Hey, take it easy, Jin. I'm not like you, working on your solo album; acting has touched my heart. I don't have the time right now to work on a solo album. I have major projects lined up after the song drops in 5 weeks. So you're either going to be a good supporter or a bad one," Taehyung said angrily. "You can do what you want, Tae; I can't make you change." "That's more like it."
"If you two are going to bicker, please do it outside; I'm trying to focus here," y/n said, annoyed.
Jin and Taehyung got up from the table and continued their argument outside.
While they were arguing, y/n got a message from J-Hope.
[J-Hope & Y/n]
J-Hope: Hello, y/n! Am I disrupting your peace and quiet?
Y/n: Hi, sunshine boy! No, you're not. My calm was interrupted earlier by Taehyung and Jin.
J-Hope: Tae and Jin? What went down?
Y/n: It looks like Jin wasn't too pleased to find out that Taehyung is returning to acting after the song releases in under 5 weeks. He started getting mad at him.
J-Hope: What a heated argument! Did they take it outside the library?
Y/n: Yes, they did. And it looks like the argument is still happening.
J-Hope: I'm really sorry you have to witness that side of Jin.
Y/n: It's fine! I've seen his angry side before.
J-Hope: You've actually seen him angry? When was that?
Y/n: If I remember right, I saw him angry in middle school when a creepy guy started following me home. Jin had enough of it. He even shouted at the guy; he was ready to fight him, but he held back because that's not who he is.
J-Hope: I'd like to see Jin engage into a physical fight one day, but I'm not sure my eyes could withstand it.
Y/n: I'd prefer not to see that; my eyes would be on fire.
J-Hope: (laughing) Anyway, the reason I reached out to you is regarding Lotte World.
Y/n: Oh, Lotte World? I'm already aware that I'm going with you all tomorrow.
J-Hope: But there's something else.
Y/n: What is it?
J-Hope: The park opens at 10:30am, and we plan to arrive an hour early, but that depends on you getting up early when we come to pick you up from the apartments.
Y/n: Early? How about breakfast?
J-Hope: No need to worry; Jungkook is making everyone a tasty breakfast with his cooking skills.
Y/n: Oh, I see Taehyung is leaving and Jin is coming back. What time will you pick me up?
J-Hope: I'd suggest 8:50 at the latest, or you may give us a message when you're ready, and we'll come get you.
Y/n: Yes, I'll keep you posted. I have to go now. See you tomorrow.
J-Hope: Later!
Y/n placed her phone aside before Jin returned to the spot.
"I apologize for that intense argument with Tae," Jin said with concern. "It's fine, don't stress about it. I've seen this side of you before," y/n replied. "But this isn't who I am," Jin said, still feeling anxious. "We're all human, and we can get upset over small matters. Actually, I need to step out for a moment; I'm going to the restroom," y/n said as she got up from her chair and walked towards the restroom.
After y/n went to the restroom, Jin sat quietly waiting for her return until he spotted the novel.
"So this is the book she picked up. 'My problematic love life'—what a cheesy title. "Let me check the summary."
Eun-Kyung, a foreigner, currently resides in the United States. She misses her hometown, Daejeon, South Korea. Her natural beauty and pleasant attitude attract the attention of a handsome American man named Elijah. Despite their cultural differences, they fall in love and encounter a variety of challenges along the road.
"Even the summary seems cheesy, but this novel gives off romance vibes, and I'm sure y/n doesn't read this. It looks like she prefers horror stories," Jin thought just as the lights in the library went out.
Jin gets a text from y/n saying she left the restroom about 5 minutes ago and is on her way.
"Boo!!" y/n exclaimed as she sneaked up from behind. "Sheesh, you scared me," Jin replied, trembling. "Sorry, but I enjoy scaring you," y/n giggling.
Then, they both heard an announcement from the library's intercom: Attention customers, we are experiencing a power outage due to the approaching thunderstorm. Please be assured that we have taken all necessary precautions; if possible, please move to the main floor for safety. Thank you!
Once the announcement was over, everyone got a notification on their phones.
"It looks like we are stuck here until the power returns. Just let your parents know, and I'll inform the group," Jin responded. "Alright," y/n replied.
Jin sent a message to the group chat informing members of the power outage and thunderstorm warning, while y/n informed her parents about it and reassured them that if anything goes wrong, like her phone dying, they can always reach out to Jin.
