Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Elemental Training and Squad Formation (Part 2)

Since Kushina was eager to hear it, Ui obliged by detailing the events of the battle, placing a particular emphasis on describing his tactical thought process at the time.

Kushina was genuinely fascinated. After all, her status as a Jinchuriki meant she was barred from the front lines of such large-scale conventional warfare.

Among the four people in the room, the perspectives varied wildly. Minato had been a primary actor on that battlefield; while his focus hadn't been on Ui, the disturbance the boy caused was hard to miss. He knew the broad strokes of the event, so he listened intently to Ui's "tactical reasoning."

Jiraiya, on the surface, looked bored.

The "Strategic" Misunderstanding

"Actually, at the time, I didn't know my summon had offensive intentions," Ui explained earnestly. "I just thought it was having some... sudden digestive urgency. So I thought, 'Well, better not let this go to waste.' If that unhygienic high-altitude projectile hit the Kazekage, it would surely cause a 'mass explosion' effect."

He paused for effect. "An emotional explosion, that is. It would destroy the Sand's morale. I figured the Kazekage wouldn't have the face to negotiate with the Hokage while covered in that... color and scent. He might even be mistaken for a performance artist."

Ui sighed. "I didn't expect it to actually explode with chakra."

This was the first time Ui had described his mental journey during that flight—and likely the last.

Upon hearing this, Kushina felt a sudden, violent urge to expel him from her tutelage. Whether or not it was "humane" wasn't even the point—his way of thinking was just fundamentally un-ninja.

A shinobi either doesn't attack, or they attack to kill. That's the proper mindset. What kind of logic involves trying to smear filth on a Kage out of spite?

Minato, meanwhile, wore an expression of profound... "constipation." He was silently thanking the heavens that the Kazekage never learned of Ui's true intentions; otherwise, there wouldn't be peace between the Leaf and the Sand for five hundred years.

As for Jiraiya, his face suddenly lit up. He looked at Ui with an gaze of pure appreciation. This... this level of bizarre thinking and imagination... maybe this is the kind of person who can bring true change to the shinobi world?

Young man, you have ideas. Come with me and learn to be the Child of Prophecy...

Jiraiya wrestled with the impulse to say it out loud, but his subconscious warned him that if he did, every single ninja in the world would lose something very precious.

The truth was, Ui was being honest. He really hadn't known the Yatagarasu had such violent tendencies. He just thought the bird was messy.

The Bond of Destiny

There is a philosophical theory in the ninja world that signing a contract with a Summon requires In-en—a fated bond.

In his youth, Jiraiya had wanted to sign with Enma, the Monkey King, but the Third Hokage had refused, citing a lack of destiny. Later, during his own research into the Summoning Jutsu, Jiraiya was accidentally reverse-summoned to Mount Myoboku, where the toads had already predicted a human would arrive.

That was destiny.

From there, Jiraiya didn't just sign a contract; he learned Sage Mode and heard the prophecy of his life's mission: he would be the teacher of the "Child of Prophecy" who would end the cycle of war and bring lasting peace. He spent his life traveling to find that student.

From that perspective, Ui being reverse-summoned to the Land of Rain carried a hint of inevitability within the coincidence. If a bond is defined by the similarity between a ninja and their summon, then the lack of "integrity" in Ui's birds said a lot about Ui himself.

The Heavyweight Discussion

"Ui, listen to me..."

For the next hour, Kushina shifted her focus from Ui's performance to a deep attempt at "ideological restructuring." She was determined to fill the holes in his logic. Only after she felt she had achieved some progress did she let him leave.

It was late, and Ui took his leave, but Jiraiya remained.

Ui didn't know the specifics, but he understood the atmosphere. Jiraiya hadn't come here just for Kushina's "medical care." He had serious business with Minato.

Once the door closed behind Ui, Jiraiya's demeanor shifted instantly. He peeled the black paste off his face and adopted an expression so stern it carried immediate authority. Kushina and Minato's playful attitudes vanished instantly. When Jiraiya got serious, he was one of the most persuasive men alive.

After a moment of silence, Jiraiya spoke.

"Minato... the reason the Third called me back this time was to discuss the succession. He intends for me to be the Fourth Hokage."

Before Minato could even process the joy for his master, Jiraiya's next words hit him like a lightning bolt.

"But I refused. My personality isn't suited for the hat. So... I recommended you instead."

This was the kind of high-level intelligence that a ninja like Ui had no business knowing. For now, the Third Hokage only had the idea; he wasn't stepping down tomorrow. He needed a candidate, not a replacement.

Returning to the Basics

In the days that followed, Ui waited for orders that didn't come. Realizing he was effectively on an unscheduled leave, he decided to resume a training regimen that had been interrupted by the war.

It was time to master Nature Transformation.

The desert had been a harsh teacher, but now, in the quiet of the village, it was time to turn theory into power.

With his unique chakra and the insights gained from his "unhygienic" summons, what kind of elemental mastery do you think Ui should prioritize first? Is he more suited for the lightning that matches his birds, or something more unconventional?
