"I want her," Emperor Raven said while pointing to Arizona. The king's eyes widened in shock. He looked as if he didn't hear well.
"What did you say?" he asked again. He didn't want to believe his ears.
"I said I want her," the emperor said.
"Oh," the king said.
"You don't want to give her?" the emperor asked.
"No, no. I just think she is too young to be taken. How about her sister? Amara is your age mate and Amira is three years younger than you are. I just think they are better options than her. She is a novice," the king said.
"Are you going back on your word?" Emperor Raven asked with raised eyebrows.
"No, I wasn't. I just want you to realize how much better it will be if you take her or any of her sisters instead," the king said, praying in his mind that the emperor would reason with him.
"I don't want them. I only want her," the emperor said.
Five arrows suddenly flew toward the emperor. As they were about to hit him, they flew back and hit the people who shot them. The five men fell from the roof. They were all dead because the arrows hit them in their chests. The emperor chuckled while looking at their bodies. He focused on the king.
"They are my guards. They always monitor from the room. They might have thought you wanted to hurt me or something. I apologize for their disrespectful act," the king bowed fearfully. He was actually the one who signaled them to shoot the emperor, but his plan failed woefully.
"So what do you say?" the emperor asked, going back to their discussion.
"You can have her, my emperor," the king said, though his fist was folded.
"Okay then. She will be going with me," the emperor said.
"Dad, I can't go with this scary man. His face scares me," Arizona cried. Her father avoided her eyes without saying anything.
"It's quite late already. You can sleep over and continue your journey tomorrow," the king said.
"I am honored," the emperor smiled, and the maid led them to the room where they would be staying.
Princess Amara and Amira walked gently into Amira's room. They started laughing the moment they entered the room.
"Finally, that bitch is gone," Amira said.
"You don't know how happy I was when that monster chose her. I hope she never comes here again," Amara said with a wicked smile.
"Now dad will focus on us. You can finally have your right as the true heir to the throne," Amira said.
"The most important thing is that Master Logan (Prime Minister's son) will finally notice me," Amara smiled.
"Wait, Master Logan is coming here," Amira said after looking at the door.
"I should greet him," Amara said and adjusted her hair before going out. She was smiling as she approached the handsome young man, but he just walked past her without sparing her a glance. She looked sad.
"He looks angry," Amira said after joining her sister.
"He must have heard about what happened," Amara smiled while playing with her hair.
THE KING'S CHAMBER
The king was pacing around the room. He was a little worried. He finally stopped when a dark figure appeared in the room.
"You called for me," the figure said and sat on the chair.
"The Cursed Prince is here. He is going to take Arizona and ruin all our plans," the king said.
"What do you want me to do?" the figure asked.
"What sort of question is that? If he takes her, then our plan is ruined because she wouldn't be around for the ritual. I want you to do something—maybe kill him or something," the king said.
"Well, I can't do that," the figure said.
"What? Why? You are powerful, right?" the king asked.
"I am powerful but my power doesn't reach him. He is way more powerful all because of the demon mark on his body. I can't hurt him," the figure said.
"But you put the mark on his body, right? Now I want you to take it off. I have the throne already, so take the mark from his body," the king said.
"I can't. I may be the one who put the mark on his body, but the mark can't be removed. We just have to find another way," the figure said.
"Then what way?" the king asked.
"I will have to figure that out. I have to go now because someone is at the door," the figure said and then disappeared. The door opened and Logan marched in looking very angry.
"Logan," the king smiled.
"What are the rumors I am hearing in the city? I hope it's not true," he demanded. He didn't even respect the king.
"How did that spread so early? It is not even four o'clock yet," the king was surprised.
"So it's true. Have you forgotten our deal? You promised to give her to me," the man yelled.
"You just have to calm down. I will find a way to bring her back," the king said.
"You should. That will be better for both of us. You know what I am capable of doing. You may be the king but my father owns this country. All the ministers are behind him. You are lucky to have his support because of me. Don't you dare break the promise or you will lose all my father's support," Logan threatened.
"It hasn't gone to that extent. I will bring her back," the king said.
"I am just giving you a little time," Logan said before leaving the room.
"That jerk. He will regret disrespecting me," the king yelled and scattered things in his room. He sat on his bed and started tapping his leg furiously.
"Miss, you should sleep and stop crying. You have a big journey tomorrow," Jade, her maid, said.
"Why can't dad disagree? He looks so scary. I can't believe I will be going with him," Arizona cried.
"Stop crying. The head of the maids just informed me that I will be going with you," Jade said.
"Really?" Arizona asked while wiping her tears.
"Yeah, so you should stop crying and sleep," Jade said.
The next morning, the guards were already waiting for their emperor as he walked out of the room with the king. Arizona was angry with her father, so she didn't look at him. Her two sisters were rejoicing where they stood.
The emperor suddenly held her hand and she was startled. He didn't even spare her a glance as he took her to her father.
"You should give us your blessings," Emperor Raven said with a smile.
The king also smiled, though he was folding his fist angrily. He blessed both of them and watched as his daughter was led into a palanquin that was waiting already. Jade and Alicia, who had already dressed as a girl, sat inside it.
"You are so beautiful. I like this mark on your forehead too," Alicia said and touched Arizona's cheeks.
"Thanks," Arizona smiled. At least the first person who talked to her was nice.
"What is your name?" Alicia asked the maid.
"Jade, your highness," she bowed.
"That is a beautiful name. I am sure both of you are going to enjoy our kingdom. It's the best place to be," Alicia smiled.
"Thanks, your highness," Jade smiled. They spent hours on the road before they finally arrived in the big and beautiful kingdom.
Arizona and Jade couldn't stop staring at the beautiful place. Most of the houses were built with gold. The decorations were out of this world. She could see the children. They all dressed in luxurious clothes, unlike their own kingdom where children begged for food on the road.
"You are so beautiful, Miss. Have this," a girl said and gave her a flower from the window. She collected it and smiled at the girl.
"That's sweet. You should lick it," Princess Alicia said. Arizona tasted it and her eyes widened at its amazing taste.
"That's a honey flower. Very sweet," she said. Jade also tasted it. They could see the beautiful jewelry sold by the people. She was almost tempted to come out and buy a lot of it. They looked everywhere with a smile.
Both their mouths opened wide when they got to the palace. The wall was so large that it wouldn't be easy for enemies to break in. They entered the palace and marveled at the beautiful dresses. Even the maids' dresses here were more expensive than the noble dresses in their own kingdom. They watched how everybody minded their business. The maids did their work well and looked neat.
Arizona was satisfied with that. Some maids were already waiting for the emperor. They all bowed the moment they stopped. The emperor came down from his horse and some guards took the horse away. A lady quickly hugged the emperor. Arizona couldn't help but wonder who the lady was.
"That witch will enter my brother," Alicia rolled her eyes and came out of the palanquin.
Arizona and Jade also came out. They got a better view of the palace. There was a beautiful water fountain at the center.
"You should allow my brother to rest. He just came back from a long journey," Alicia scoffed before entering the palace with some maids. Samara glared at her without saying anything. She had a fake smile on her face.
Arizona moved closer and the emperor looked at her.
"Take her to one of the inner palace rooms," Jimmy said. It was always Jimmy who did the talking. It was like he could read the emperor and knew everything he wanted to say.
"Yes, your highness," the maid bowed and took Arizona and Jade away. Samara frowned deeply while looking at her back. She couldn't help but wonder who the girl was. The girl's beauty was already making her lose her mind.
"Who is the girl?" she asked as she followed the emperor to his room. He ignored her questions and started taking off his clothes when he got to his room.
"You must be very tired. Let me make you feel good," she said and touched the emperor's chest. She smiled satisfactorily when he didn't stop her.
