Shawn's POV,
I stirred awake slowly, my body heavy and sluggish, like sleep was still clinging to me, and the first thing I noticed was the sunlight spilling into the apartment.
I didn't need to check the time to know it was around 10 a.m.
I was late. Not just barely late, but completely late for work. And the moment that realization settled in my mind, I made the decision just as quickly.
I wasn't going.
I must have overslept because the sleeping pills knocked me out harder than I expected. The last thing I remembered was taking them and dropping into sleep almost instantly, no tossing, no drifting, just gone.
And then the next thing I knew, I was in that dream. A dream that did not feel like a dream, not with how vivid it had been, not with how it still clung to me now like something that had not fully let go.
Jean.
Of course it was him.
