Chapter 39 The Birthday Party 1
Vessara heaved a sigh and turned her head toward Anthea. "Anthea, please remind me why we are here again?" She asked.
Anthea kept her eyes on the crowd near the lake. "I told you. We're here to get your mind off that stranger."
They stood still on a clearing in an open space. The lake was close by. Tables and chairs were set up in different areas. Food and drinks were placed on the tables. Some people sat and ate. Others stood in groups talking.
The birthday party was supposed to be a picnic. And Anthea had promised there would be lots of guys to meet. But as Vessara's eyes scanned the area, most of the guys seemed to have a girl by their side.
"Didn't you say it was a picnic too?" Vessara asked Anthea again. She pointed toward the water.
Most of the guests were in swimsuits and bikinis. Some played games on the grass. Others were in the lake swimming. They threw a ball back and forth and called out to people to join the fun.
