Chapter 3 - THE INTERRUPTION

CHAPTER 3

 THE INTERRUPTION

Suddenly, someone came running towards the boy and patted him on the shoulder, worriedly...

The moment his hand touched him—

Everything stopped.

The thin boy froze.

His breathing was still heavy, but his fists slowly unclenched... He became silent

Everyone became silent...

I looked up....And that's when I saw him.

Tall.

Calm.

Cold.

Like whatever happened here didn't matter to him.

???: "That's enough."

he shouted.... not soo much..... but enough for everyone around him to stay silent.. Even the receptionists looked uneasy.

THIN BOY: "They started it."His voice was sharp, but a had a little respect for that boy.

???: "And you made it worse."

Flat. Uninterested.

The thin boy bowed his head down.

THIN BOY: "I wasn't just gonna stand there." he told very low enough for him and me to hear

A pause.

???: "I know."

No shouting. No scolding.

And somehow... that worked.

The thin boy ran a hand through his hair.

Still mad.

But calmer.

...He listened to him.

The guy finally looked at the receptionists.

Cold. Distant.

???: "Any problem?"

RECEPTIONIST: "N-no, we were just—"

???: "GOOD."

He cut them off.

No hesitation.

No effort.

Silence filled the space again.

Then—

He turned. His eyes landed on me.

Sharp.Observant.

Like he already figured everything out.

???: "You're the transferee."

Not a question.

I blinked.

JAY:"Uh... yeah."

Then, his gaze turned to my phone, on my admission letter copy

Then back to me.

???: "Section E."

I nodded slowly.

???: "Tss."

Was that... annoyance?

Before I could react—

He turned away.

???: "Come."

And started walking.

...Seriously?

I just stood there for a second, staring at his back.

Did he just order me like that?!

The thin boy walked past me—

And just like that, the thin boy's whole mood changed.

THIN BOY: "Ignore them, okay? They always act like that."

His tone was completely different now.

Lighter. Friendlier.

THIN BOY: "Like, 'ew Section E'—as if they're perfect or something."

He made a face, slightly mocking them.

I blinked.

That was fast.

JAY: "Uh... what's your name?"

THIN BOY: "Ci-N. Cinco Neith... but that's too long. Just call me Ci-N."

JAY: "Ci-N.. right?"

CI-N: "mmhm."

Then he looked ahead again, catching up to the guy in front.

We walked for a few seconds—

Until someone from behind called out:

VOICE: "Keifer! Wait up!"

I slowed down slightly.

Keifer...

CI-N: "What happened?"

JAY: "Nothing."

So that's his name.

Keifer.

It fit.

Cold. Sharp. Hard to approach.

Keifer stopped—but didn't fully turn.

Just enough to show he heard.

KEIFER: "What?"

Blunt.

No emotion.

The person who called him hesitated.

Yeah...

Definitely rude.

I looked at him again.

At Keifer.

The guy who stopped everything without even trying...

And somehow made it feel like he didn't care at all.

I don't understand him.

But Ci-N does.

That much is obvious.

I tightened my grip on the paper in my hand—

...and followed them.

Maybe...

This "Section E"...

Isn't what everyone says it is.
