CHAPTER - 16
AREA - OKUTAMA, BCC HEADQUARTERS
Raikun follows ameni. His mind is perplexed. He's thinking. He's thinking about the contrast between THIS and the dead strip.
He questions ameni "So like, dont the uhh..government have like alot of resources and money." He stares at her, waiting for an answer.
Ameni pauses and looks back with a confused look "why are you asking such a..question?" she asks.
Raikun shakes his head and replies "nothing, so when are we getting to this room? where the heck is it?"
Ameni looks up at the tower and points her slender pale looking fingers at it.
"There. Up there."
Raikun looks up at the tower. He was fascinated by such technology but also a bit skeptical.
He follows Ameni towards a neuro-door. Ameni touches the door with her thumb. it opens.
"The sounds these gates make are annoying." Raikun sarcastically says.
Ameni ignores what he said and leads him into the bright, white room. There were projectors everywhere.
"VARES have just invaded headquarters in ▪︎▪︎▪︎ protocol ▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎"
The projector buzzes with the reporters voice. Ameni just ignores it and says to raikun while shes walking ahead.
"Dont worry about it, those attacks happen almost everyday. we got it covered."
There were bubbles inside the room. Everywhere.
"What are these bubbles?" Raikun asks ameni as he touches one of them and they don't pop.
"Oxygen bubbles used as a safety measure just in case the neurotoxins spread into the city." Ameni pauses
"They are placed everywhere, some are invisible and are incased in these glasses made up of neuro" she replies.
Raikun's eyes widen. processing.
he stares at the bubble for a brief moment.
His chest tightens. he whispers to himself "grandma.."
he looks down and grits his mouth before he looks up at ameni.
"tell me why they aren't placed inside dead strip and SEVERAL other areas?" His hands tremble with anger.
He goes closer to her as she stands tall as if she knows. She doesnt flinch. Her ice cold eyes just look at raikun crashing out.
"You know how many lives were LOST? lost because of the infection? THEY ARENT EVEN PROPER DOCTORS DEPLOYED!" He screams at her. All the people in the room look at him.
Ameni stares at him with a blank expression. As if she was thinking about something different entirely.
The same words. The same anger. but the reality can never be changed. That was the truth. The truth that cannot be changed.
Ameni's expression shifts slightly before she straightens her posture. "raikun, you have to calm down."
