Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 15

AREA - OKUTAMA, BCC HEADQUARTERS.

Raikun follows Ameni as he observes his surroundings.

Bright, colorful.

His eyes drifted towards the restaurants; his chest tightened at such effortless luxury,

and the people who were acting like they don't have a care in the world.

Raikun thought to himself, "comparing this to Dead Strip..."

Ameni says, "we have about 2 hours for the meeting. I'll show you around in the meantime."

Raikun nods and proceeds to walk behind her.

Ameni breaks the silence by saying, "You must be thinking, why choose such a secluded place?"

Raikun nods, completely lost in his thoughts and curiosity.

Ameni sighs and looks up at the tower in the middle of the city and proceeds to speak, "You see that tower? In the middle?" Raikun notices the tower, and Ameni proceeds, "That single tower powers up all the neurogates."

Raikun ponders on the words. "All the neurogates?" He adds, "how does that help?" And Ameni speaks, "there's always something that contagions hate or are weak against."

She proceeds, "For whatever reason, they avoid anything which is made up of neuro."

His mind derailed, thoughts flooding in.

"Why is it that these neurogates are not seen at places like..." he continues after a pause, "Dead Strip."

Ameni's gaze tightens as she looks away, at a loss for words. There was only silence between them.

"We have to go now, to the meeting." She adds, "I'll tell you what we have to do in the mission."

The luminous light was shining so effortlessly; he could notice that the light was coming from the tower itself. Questions emerged in his mind. The disappointment of not knowing the answers annoyed him.

HASHIMA ISLAND, TOKYO, JAPAN.

The sounds of boots squelching on stagnant water dripping from the buildings echoed throughout the area.

A giggle was heard through the room as that person pranced inside, with monitors and wires covering the entire space.

In the middle, there was a silhouette of a man, peculiar, in a wheelchair.

A high-pitched voice quickly rose—it was the voice of a woman.

"Sir, they've brought in a new sheep." She giggled, adjusting her glasses with a grin.

The man in the wheelchair spoke; his voice could send shivers down a person's spine.

"KILL him. We can't let them research it." He adds, "those dogs don't deserve to know."

"Yes, sir. I'll be sending VARES towards the designated location," she spoke with a grin, her pink hair flowing gracefully as she made her way out.

The room felt heavy, as if something was weighing it down.

"Okay, Eve," he spoke.

The waves were hitting the sands of the beach. The island had a sense of eeriness to it. The abandoned buildings were slowly falling to their demise. The hollowed remains on the shore didn't have anywhere else to go.

The sky wouldn't stop weeping, as if it couldn't.
