Chapter 1 - when it all came down

Chapter 1

Many people were skeptical about the apocalypse being real, while most dismissed the idea as fantasy — until the 27th day of July 2030, when humanity was forced to face a harsh reality.

Everything started 2,000 years ago when beings from the 7th dimension, greedy, cruel and disrespectful, wanted to have everything for themselves, so they waged war against the other six dimensions, starting a great dimensional rift. Humans belonging to the first dimension were considered too weak to be included in the war, so the strongest ones from the remaining five dimensions — Angels, Demon Lords, Gods, Lanpals, and Soldiers — fought against the invaders. The war was bloody, with the five dimensions overwhelmed by the supremacy of the 7th dimension beings known as Natons. In a desperate attempt, the 7th dimension was sealed using the combination of all energy sources.

Now 2,000 years after the great dimensional rift, a goddess who went by the name Tension, who was deeply allied with humans, noticed that the seal on the 7th dimension was slowly becoming undone. Knowing that humans were far too weak to survive the great dimensional rift, she made a decision to force the human race to become stronger — strong enough to hold their own against what was coming.

Little did anyone know that 2,000 years later, the consequences of that ancient war would come knocking on the doors of the most unsuspecting people — including a quiet, antisocial teenager in the city of Nyemar who just wanted to be left alone.

It was a day like any other in the city of Nyemar, the city bustling with life as workers on a tight schedule rushed to work, students heading to school as tall buildings with LED billboards advertised various products. In a school 30 blocks away from the largest mall in the city, a boy with an expression that did not match the mood of the class sat in the left corner as his classmates enjoyed their break.

THOMAS POV

Break, one of the few things I hate about school. Believe me, it's not like I don't like the fact that students have been given a chance to relax, it's just that the way they are all lively makes me want to pass out. The class prefect, a nerd who knows a lot about disasters and other related stuff, stood there all high and mighty as the boys just had fun playing video games while the ladies grouped on another side of the class and rumbled on about some irrelevant show from last night.

As if all my troubles were arranged in sequential order, this girl who I think went by the name Mary kept on trying to get my attention, but like the shut-in I am supposed to be, I ignored her along with everything else.

"Just 30 minutes, and everything will go back to silence," I muttered as I lazily placed my head on the table. But then, unexpectedly, the school's PA system crackled to life — or at least that's what I thought — when I heard a calm but menacing voice in my head saying:

"Hello there humans, my name is Lamsion. I know you will never forgive me for this, but within 30 minutes, humans above the age of 17 will turn into zombies. So those below that age — try not to die."

"What in the world—" That was the first thing that came to my head after Lamsion, or whoever it was, finished talking. But soon I dismissed it as my brain playing tricks on me, probably because I wanted my heartless aunt and uncle dead. The main reason for this is that after my parents passed away in a tragic car accident, they stripped me of my birth rights like vultures and used everything to spoil their son rotten.

As I rested my head on the table, I noticed that the class had gone silent — unusually silent. So I lifted my head to see what the problem was.

Everyone was looking out the window, their faces full of shock and disbelief. I followed suit, and when I did, I was greeted by a scene straight out of a movie. The city was in complete chaos — smoke poured out of buildings, cars burned, people looted shops while others simply gave up on life entirely. (Wait, does this mean the rapture has already happened? Damn, and here I thought I lived a good life.) An unexplainable feeling of joy filled my heart, my eyes lighting up as a plane crashed into a tower
