Chapter 26 - System Revision Notice

The silence after the failed measurement did not feel like an ending.

It felt like recalculation.

Li Feng and Ming Yue Xin were not moved immediately. The Integration Sector remained active, but the environment no longer attempted active testing. The floating lattice had dissolved, leaving behind only faint structural traces in the air—like a system that had stopped mid-thought.

Li Feng looked around.

"…It stopped."

Ming Yue Xin's gaze remained steady.

"No."

A pause.

"It paused."

That distinction mattered.

Stopped implied failure.

Paused implied continuation.

---

Above them, the observation layer flickered.

Not visually—but structurally. The academy's monitoring systems were processing something they had not anticipated in their foundational logic.

Then it appeared.

A notification—not projected into space, but directly into both of their system interfaces.

---

[ACADEMY CORE NOTICE]

[SUBJECT PAIR: LI FENG / MING YUE XIN]

[STATUS UPDATE: UNDER REVISION REVIEW]

---

Li Feng's eyes narrowed.

"…Revision?"

Ming Yue Xin read it instantly.

"They're rewriting how they classify us."

That sentence was heavier than it sounded.

Because classification revision meant one thing:

The system had failed its existing definitions.

And was forced to create new ones.

---

The notification expanded.

---

[REASON: UNRESOLVABLE SYNCHRONIZATION BEHAVIOR]

[REASON: MEASUREMENT MODEL INCOMPATIBILITY]

[REASON: PERSISTENT RESONANCE STABILITY UNDER DIVERSION ATTEMPTS]

---

Li Feng exhaled slowly.

"So we broke their system model."

Ming Yue Xin responded calmly.

"We exposed its limits."

A brief silence followed.

Neither of them looked surprised.

Neither of them looked pleased.

It was simply a fact.

---

Then the final line appeared.

---

[INTERIM STATUS: OBSERVATION ONLY]

[ALL TESTING PROTOCOLS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED]

[RECLASSIFICATION DECISION PENDING CORE AUTHORITY REVIEW]

---

Li Feng tilted his head slightly.

"…They suspended testing."

Ming Yue Xin nodded once.

"Yes."

A pause.

"That means they don't understand what happens next."

That was the real shift.

Not power.

Not ranking.

Uncertainty at the institutional level.

---

A faint distortion rippled through the environment again.

This time, no construct formed.

Instead, a voice—distant, layered, and partially fragmented—echoed through the Integration Sector.

Not an instructor.

Not a system node.

Something higher.

"Subject pair identified."

A pause.

"Unstable classification event recorded."

Another pause.

"Recommendation: containment framework upgrade required."

Li Feng's expression sharpened slightly.

"…Containment again."

Ming Yue Xin's gaze lifted subtly.

"This time it's not personal."

A pause.

"It's structural."

---

The voice continued.

"Pending decision: assign pair to controlled environment cohort or externalized academy track."

Li Feng looked at her.

"…Controlled environment cohort sounds like imprisonment."

Ming Yue Xin didn't disagree.

"And externalized track sounds like monitoring in public systems."

A brief pause.

"So either way, we are observed."

---

The Integration Sector began to shift again.

But not into a test chamber this time.

Into something broader.

More complex.

Layers of architecture unfolded around them—transit patterns, academic grid maps, ranking structures, social integration paths.

Li Feng noticed it immediately.

"…They're moving us."

Ming Yue Xin nodded slightly.

"Yes."

A pause.

"To a place where they can measure us without stopping society."

That was the true meaning of "revision."

They were no longer isolated anomalies.

They were becoming part of the academy's living ecosystem.

---

As the environment stabilized into a new configuration, Li Feng spoke quietly.

"…We're entering a new phase."

Ming Yue Xin looked at him.

"Yes."

A pause.

"And this time, we are not inside the test."

She continued softly.

"The test is inside the world."

The system interface flickered once more.

No errors.

No instability.

Just a single updated directive:

---

[NEW INTEGRATION PATH: PREPARING FOR TRANSFER]

---

And for the first time since their pairing began—

The academy stopped trying to break them.

And started trying to place them.
