"And if we marry here in secret, it might look like we are hiding from her," Adeline added gently, her fingers brushing against his arm. "Like she actually managed to scare us away."
Gideon's gaze sharpened, his jaw tightening as the truth of her words settled in. The thought of Presley believing she had won, even in the slightest way, was entirely unacceptable.
"You're right," he stated, a slow smirk replacing his frustration. "I do have a few people back there who desperately want to see me take the throne. And running away isn't my style." He reached out, cupping her cheek with his hand. "We will go back to the capital, Adeline. We will have our wedding right under her nose, and she will have to sit there and watch you become my Luna."
Adeline smiled and patted his shoulders. "Take some rest. We need to fly back to the capital in the evening."
She walked past him, but he was quick to catch her by the wrist.
