Gideon applied the brakes on the car slowly and unfastened his seatbelt. Adeline stepped out from her side and looked around. They were parked at the edge of a vast, dense stretch of the forest.
"Why are we here? I thought you wanted us to explore the city," Adeline said, turning her head only to find him stepping up right beside her.
"Then, my plans changed," Gideon replied. He reached down, taking her hand in his, and began leading her forward. "There is a hidden pond further in, and the scenery is quite beautiful. I thought a place like that would be much better for the two of us."
She didn't answer him right away, letting the quiet crunch of leaves beneath their boots fill the silence.
"Don't be upset with me," he said, tilting his head slightly to catch her gaze. "You have yet to see many sides of me. So, don't form your opinion of me so early."
