I still choose you, forever and for always (golden years: old age)
His side:
I've seen you go from blushing bride,
To my best and closest friend,
To mother,
The beautiful changes its had on your mind, heart, and soul.
The Grandmother loving her grandchildren.
I've seen you in every stage,
But I must confess, this is my favorite age.
Where your hair has gone grey,
I'm smitten all over again, what can I say?
Her side;
You still look at me like I'm the greatest dame you've ever seen.
I've noticed your changes too.
Your gait not quite as steady,
But a strong heart that still beats for me.
A gentle hand that still reaches for mine in the darkest hour.
I must say, of all the versions of you,
This is the one I'll always choose.
Again and again.
No worries, dearest, your affections are returned tenfold.
Your heart is safe with me to hold.
Them together:
We have fought and made up,
We have grown together,
Wept together,
Bled together,
And rejoiced with joy with one another.
Raised our children together,
Watched them grow from tiny babes,
To flourishing grown adults, ready to start their own journeys;
Of love, laughter, pain, and sorrows.
And darling, through it all,
I still choose you for a thousand tomorrows.
Eternity is an awfully long time, and my dear i want you forever and for always.
