Beside Sarah's bed, there was a small table. On it lay a pair of scissors.
Her eyes slowly fell on it.
For a moment, she just stared… her mind filled with chaos.
Pain. Confusion. Emptiness.
She didn't know who she was.
She didn't know where she belonged.
And that thought alone was enough to break her completely.
Her trembling hand slowly reached out… and picked up the scissors.
Tears rolled down her cheeks silently.
"If I don't even know who I am… then what is the point of living?" she whispered to herself.
Her grip tightened.
With shaking hands, she raised the scissors and tried to push them into her stomach.
She wanted to end everything.
Right then—
"Sarah!" a voice shouted.
Doctor Kevin rushed into the room and quickly grabbed her hand, stopping her just in time.
Sarah looked at him with anger and pain in her eyes.
"How dare you touch me?" she snapped. "Let go of my hand!"
Doctor Kevin tried to take the scissors away from her, but in the struggle, the sharp edge cut into his hand.
"Ouch!" he winced in pain.
A thin line of blood appeared on his skin.
Sarah froze.
The anger in her eyes slowly faded, replaced by guilt.
"I'm… I'm so sorry, Doctor… Are you okay?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Doctor Kevin looked at her and gave a small, reassuring smile.
"It's okay," he said softly. "I'm fine. It's just a small cut."
He quickly wrapped a bandage around his hand, as if it didn't matter.
But to Sarah… it mattered.
For the first time, she realized that her pain had hurt someone else too.
After a moment of silence, Doctor Kevin spoke again.
"Sarah… can I talk to you for a while?"
She didn't argue this time.
She simply nodded.
Doctor Kevin sat beside her and looked at her gently.
"What were you trying to do… and why?" he asked calmly.
Tears filled Sarah's eyes instantly.
"I've lost everything," she said, her voice breaking. "I don't remember anything. Not my name, not my family, not even who I am…"
Her breathing became heavy.
"I can't even walk properly. I feel useless. Tell me, Doctor… what kind of life is this?"
She looked at him helplessly.
"I don't want to live like this anymore… I just want it to end."
Doctor Kevin listened quietly.
Then, in a calm and steady voice, he said,
"You can't give up so easily, Sarah."
She looked at him, confused.
"Just because you lost your memory doesn't mean it's gone forever," he continued. "Memories can come back. It takes time… but they do return."
He paused, then added softly,
"But until then… why don't you try living again? Start fresh. A new life."
Sarah shook her head weakly.
"How can I start a new life when I don't even know who I am?" she asked.
Doctor Kevin smiled gently.
"Because before being a doctor… I'm a human," he said. "And right now, I don't want to be your doctor."
He extended his hand towards her.
"I want to be your friend."
Sarah looked at his hand.
For a moment, she hesitated.
But then… something inside her changed.
For the first time since she woke up, she felt a small ray of hope.
Slowly, she placed her hand in his.
"Okay…" she whispered.
Doctor Kevin smiled warmly.
"Then as your friend, I promise… I'll stay by your side."
Since Sarah had no memory of her past, Doctor Kevin thought for a moment and said,
"How about I give you a new name?"
Sarah looked at him curiously.
"Sofia."
The name felt strange… yet somehow comforting.
A faint smile appeared on her face.
"I like it," she said softly.
—
On the other side of the city…
Ryan sat alone in his office cabin.
The room was silent, but his mind was filled with noise.
Regret.
Guilt.
Pain.
He ran his hand through his hair in frustration.
"Where are you, Sarah…" he whispered.
For four days, he had searched everywhere.
Every street, every corner, every possible place.
He had even filed a missing report.
But there was no trace of her.
He looked at the photo in his hand.
Her smile in the picture made his chest ache.
"I hurt you so much…" he said, his voice breaking. "And now… you're gone."
Just then, a knock came.
"May I come in, sir?"
"Yes," Ryan replied tiredly.
Alice entered the room.
She looked at him with concern.
"Ryan… you need to stop blaming yourself like this," she said softly.
He let out a bitter laugh.
"How can I not?" he replied. "She loved me… more than anyone ever did. She sacrificed everything for me… and I only gave her pain in return."
Alice stepped closer.
"I understand your pain," she said gently. "But you have responsibilities. Your father… this company… they need you."
She paused, then added,
"Also, some clients are coming today for a big project meeting."
Ryan closed his eyes for a moment, trying to control himself.
"Alright," he said quietly.

Meanwhile…
Sofia sat in a wheelchair, slowly getting used to her new reality.
Doctor Kevin helped her with everything.
From walking… to eating… to smiling again.
And somewhere along the way, Sofia began to feel safe around him.
Happy… even.
For the first time, she didn't feel completely alone.
When she was finally discharged from the hospital, she realized something—
She had nowhere to go.
No home.
No family.
No past.
So, Doctor Kevin took her to his house.
His family welcomed her warmly.
His parents treated her like their own daughter, and his younger sister Zara quickly became her friend.
Everything felt… peaceful.
Until—
Sofia's eyes landed on a photo frame.
She picked it up.
"Who is she?" she asked Zara.
Zara's expression changed slightly.
"She… is my sister-in-law," she replied.
Sofia frowned. "What do you mean?"
Zara took a deep breath.
"She is my brother Kevin's wife… Sofia."
Sofia froze.
The same name.
Her name.
The one Kevin had given her.
Her heart skipped a beat.
"Where is she?" Sofia asked. "Can I meet her?"
Zara's eyes filled with sadness.
"She's not with us anymore," she said softly. "She died in a road accident… two years ago."
Sofia stood there silently.
A strange feeling filled her chest.
Why did that name feel so familiar?
Why did it hurt… even when she remembered nothing?
"Sarah felt bad for Doctor Kevin, finally realizing how much pain he had been hiding behind his calm and gentle smile."
