Chapter 3 - X-rank Blessing: Infinite Archive

Rave blinked. 'Infinite Archive?'

[Infinite Archive | X-rank]

—> Gather Archive Points by killing or collecting various stuff that Infinite Archive will devour and convert into points.

—> Use Archive Points in the Archive Shop to buy blessings or runes.

—> You may fuse blessings or runes to create new blessings and runes.

Rave's eyes widened in shock.

'What the fuck?'

Rave read it again.

'What the fuck?'

Buying blessings, combining blessings, and he could even access Runes already?

Runes were used to modify blessings. But the Rune tab in everyone's status only appeared to those who managed to enter the second floor of the abyss. And runes dropped only on the second and further floors.

For example, if a rune with +2 Projectiles was attached to a Flame Archer Blessing, the person would shoot +2 additional arrows automatically in whatever projectile-type skill he used. If there were a rune with x2 Projectiles, then it would DOUBLE the number of projectiles one initially intended to release. So 10 into 20.

Some runes increased attack speed, some runes enhanced a particular element or changed an aspect of a blessing into another, like Flame Archer turning into Storm Archer using Storm Rune, and so on.

This was the power of runes.

'Infinite Archive…isn't this freaking crazy?' Rave was dazed.

Focusing back on the status, Rave checked out the Archive Shop.

[Free Bonus—Blessing: One Punch Man (D-rank) - 1 Archive Point to refresh the Free Bonus]

1. Blessing: Fire Dancer (D-rank) - 50 A.P

2. Blessing: Wild Ranger (C-rank) - 100 A.P

3. Rune: +50% action speed. (D-rank) - 25 A.P

4. Rune: +2 On-hit Effect (B-rank) - 200 A.P.

5. Blessing: Jackhammer Arms (D-rank) - 50 A.P.

'This is insane….' Raze gulped. 'I can combine this stuff.'

'And free bonus is One Punch Man?! But it's D-rank…'

When he focused on it, the details of the blessing appeared.

[One Punch Man | D-rank]

—> Whenever you are not punching, your strength is stored. 1% of your full punch power is stored per minute, upto 1000%. When you punch, the stored power is released in a single punch.

'Uhh…this is bad.' Rave wryly smiled. 'Waste of a blessing slot. Since I can change my blessings, why stick with trash ones?'

For 1000% power punch, he'd have to wait for 16.6 hours.

No wonder it was a D-rank blessing, worse than his previous C-rank Body Drive.

'But why did Body Drive disappear. It was good.' Rave lamented.

Immunity from damage and knockback for five seconds was insane!

Of course, if someone sealed his mouth while he was breathing out to deactivate the immunity…then his fate would be sealed.

'Alright, let's refresh the free bonus. I don't want this weak-ass one punch man blessing.'

1 Archive Point was deducted, and the free bonus was replaced.

[Free Bonus—Blessing: Windfury Tiger | C-rank]

Rave blinked. 'Tiger? Is this a transformation-type blessing?'

[Windfury Tiger | C-rank]

—> Transform into a Windfury Tiger.

Strength: C+

Agility: B+

Stamina: B-

Arcane: C+

—> Raging Hunter.

—> Windbound Stride.

—> Roaring Wind Blast.

'Transformation-type…' Rave's eyes glinted. 'This looks fun. And it's as strong as a C-rank monster!'

Without further ado, he acquired this free bonus.

[Your second blessing slot is now occupied by Windfury Tiger.]

Standing up, Rave approached the teacher.

"Teacher, I am done here. Can I go back on my own? I'll just follow the same path and take the air-taxi back home."

The teacher raised her eyebrows. "We crossed roughly two kilometres, and didn't encounter monsters, but that doesn't mean there won't be any monsters. Some monsters don't approach big groups, like ours. If you go alone, there's a chance you'll be attacked."

Rave scratched his head. "But I am strong enough to handle E-rank monsters. You also know I am a strong martial artist. I have the record of beating most E-rank monsters purely using a staff."

The teacher rolled her eyes. "That record is in a VR game, not in reality! Wait for an hour more, then all of us will leave."

"Yes, ma'am."

Rave went back to his spot and sat down.

'Well, now I can't even use my Body Drive, and can't show my Windfury Tiger.'

"Why are you sulking here instead of practicing? Didn't you say you'd become an Abyssal Streamer no matter what kind of blessing you get?" Ruby asked as she arrived next to him.

Rave lay down in response, looking at the beautiful and exotic sky of the first floor.

"I changed my mind. I am going to do another job. Screw Abyss."

"What?" Ruby frowned. "Why? You have a talent in martial arts, and you can acquire better Blessings eventually if you don't give up."

"Nah. I give up." Rave smiled, showing himself as utterly carefree. "I don't want to risk my life."

"You…." Ruby was almost angry, but she composed herself and snorted before leaving with a mutter. "Loser…"

Rave wryly smiled. 'Sorry, but I have to pretend like I gave up. I want to get out of the union federations' radar.'

Crackle! Boom!

Amon was making most of the noise with his blessing's power.

And he wasn't going far from Rave for some obvious reasons.

After all, he had lost against Rave in every single duel so far, so Amon naturally wanted to show off his new power.

A-rank Thunder Warrior.

Rave was a bit envious as he looked at him moving around and instantly annihilating E-rank monsters en masse.

Amon was clad in an armor of lightning, and wielding a spear made of lightning that was getting more refined and better in visual as he continued using his Blessing. He was still getting used to his strength, but he was already too fast for normal eyes to follow.

After continuous training, modifications, and so on to get powerful, and eventually evolving his blessing to S-rank or higher, and acquiring more blessings, he would become a pillar of his uncle's guild.

And probably enter the top 1000 Abyssal Streamer leaderboard after a couple of years, or higher if his luck and effort yielded some very good fortune.

Or he'd die like thousands of others who die every year while braving the unknowns of the Abyss.

'I don't want to die.' Rave saw the faces of his family in the sky, wondering what they were doing. 'This life is not mine alone, like the previous one. I have people to protect and fight for.'

The family bond he has been experiencing in the past three years was very endearing to him. It was something that he hadn't felt even once in his previous 27 years of orphaned, solo life.
