Chapter 3 - 3: Excellence

'You need to excell in all seven subjects?'

Sheen pondered the difficult question as he carried his suitcase.

He came early, and the first few carriages were not full yet.

So he found an empty box in the second carriage, and then dragged and dragged the suitcase to get it up, but he couldn't lift it. He tried twice and the suitcase fell to the ground.

Sheen stopped where he was, and then his wand swung:

  "Wingardium Leviosa! "

[You practiced the Floating Spell once at the beginner level, proficiency +3]

With the sound of spells and panel prompts, the brick-like suitcase quickly floated up.

  Still this thing works.

Sheen put away his wand with satisfaction and pulled the suitcase into the box.

What he didn't notice was that a little witch was looking at him curiously.

Outside the windows, thick smoke from the steam locomotive hung over the chirping crowd, their feet stomping away on the pavement of platform 9 and 3 quarters.

Amid the buzzing voices of the crowd and the clamor of hauling heavy luggage, owls chirped, some where empty feet while the rest had letters tied to their ankle claws.

Sheen opened "Hogwarts: A History," which was half the size of the tabletop, and wrote on the top page what the seven main courses at Hogwarts were:

Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, and Astronomy.

They are also compulsory courses at Hogwarts..

So how does one achieve excellence?

Sheen found a reference standard, and that was Hermione, the top student in the golden trio.

'If I remember correctly, she achieved a good score of nine O (Excellent) and one E (Exceeded Expectations) in the OWL, which is the ordinary wizard level examination.'

Hermione's grades have always been stable, so just by comparing her performance, you can judge the level you need to reach.

  Difficult?

Of course it is difficult. His magical talent is terrible. Except for history of magic, all other courses require magical talent.

But can't he do it himself?

He had come this far, it was a small step towards his journey but he had come this far and that's what was important. If he couldn't continue he may as well curl up and die

While he was packing, Sheen thought for a few seconds.

  "Let's start with Transfiguration..."

Sheen sat down in his flannel-padded seat, put back "A History of the School," and pulled out "The Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration," a brownish-red book with a gold-trimmed texture that detailed the laws and techniques of transfiguration and served as a textbook for Hogwarts first and second graders.

One of the most classic cases is turning a match into a needle. If he can reach this level within a month, Sheen feels that it would be very easy to be excellent.

[When transforming, it is very important to wave the wand firmly and decisively

Don't swing or turn the wand when you don't have to, or the transformation will fail.

Before using the Transfiguration Spell, clearly picture in your mind what you want the object to look like

Beginners should pronounce the spell clearly, while advanced wizards do not need to say it out loud...]

Sheen read every sentence in the "Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration" carefully, and he was ready to memorize the book if he had to, it was more than 200 pages long, before trying the transfiguration technique.

Why he did this is also very simple. Hermione memorized all the books when she first started learning magic and achieved excellent results

Results weren't guaranteed but compared to Harry and Ron, this was a method he could actually endorse.

The road to success is hard, so why not imitate?

Besides, his talent is not enough to begin with, working harder is the only way.

Another important reason is that these books cost him eleven gold galeons, Sheen almost cried when he heard the price for the first time, he had to make use of it fully. He had a mentality of eating more than he paid for at a buffet to get his money worth.

He had to thank the brain on this body, had the caretakers actually done their job, Sheen had no doubt the original Sheen would have grown up to be an incredibly smart and intelligent young man. It was thanks to this brain...this brain alone has helped him roughly memorise this book in his hands.

He completed more than 180 pages of this book in his hand. If he can memorize it today, he can then start the practical practice of Transfiguration.

This made Sheen, who had ordinary grades in his previous life, sigh

  Poverty truly made people powerful.

Steam was pouring down at the train station, and Sheen was so absorbed in the book that he didn't even notice a little witch coming from the box.

"Excuse me, is anyone else coming here? "

A little, fluffy-haired witch pushed open the cubicle door and asked Sheen with her chin raised.

  "No."

Sheen still carried the book on his back. If there was any benefit that half a year in the orphanage gave him, it was that he was focused enough. These grass seeds, whose life and death were not under his control, could be blown away by the wind in an instant if they could not learn to grow on their own.

After this simple response, Sheen stopped talking until the train rumbled away, the number of people in the box changed from two to three, but sheen did not move at all.

The scenery outside the car window is like a pair of oil paintings.

The winding river spread, the wheat waves surged one after another, and occasionally you could see farmhouses and cattle and sheep, which were covered by the dark green hills that followed.

Hermione looked at the book, occasionally glancing at the view from the car window and at the focused little wizard across from her. His white hair on both sides was fluffy and slightly raised, his long eyelashes flashed, and there was a sense of peace, but most importantly-

"He looks like my cat. I really can't explain how he does so but he really looks like my cat..."

The black-haired little boy whispered, then scratched his head a little awkwardly, but unexpectedly, his words were quickly recognized by hermione.

Hermione nodded vigorously, and she glanced at the dark-haired little boy, showing the excitement of being understood.

  "Justin, you described it exactly!"

Justin's eyes lit up, and the two immediately began a muttering discussion.

Sheen was so absorbed in the book that he didn't realize he was the subject of discussion.

The train swayed rhythmically, the windows were like ever changing canvases, carrying beautiful, fantastical paintings.

In the box, except for the whispers of Hermione and the dark-haired boy Justin, there was only the rustling of the pages turning.

Sheen finally finished the last paragraph. He breathed a sigh of relief and looked up to rub his sour eyes. He would need glasses at this rate

  "I finished everything! "

Soon, Sheen's big eyes flickered. He put down the book and took out a match from his robe. The shape, structure, and characteristics of the match kept appearing in his mind

Memories of his past life, reading the Harry Potter books and watching the movies, and his current knowledge combining with each other-

  "Trans—figuro!"

In line with this confidence, Sheen whispered the spell in one breath. The spell wasn't revealed in the books or the movies, it was surprising how simple the incantation actually watch.

Unfortunately, the match hadn't changed much Sheen raised the corner of his mouth.

[You practiced a low-level Transfiguro at an introductory standard, proficiency +3]

"Did he just say anything? Also, what is he doing?"

Justin asked Hermione in a low voice, and a big question mark was almost written on his head.

"It seems... it's Transfiguration, oh no! The book says it's a dangerous spell and that mispronouncing it can have terrible consequences!"

Hermione pinched the corners of her clothes, frowning, and was about to interrupt Sheen's attempt.

[You practiced a low-level transfiguration at a familiar standard, proficiency +10]

[You practiced a low-level transfiguration at a familiar standard, proficiency +10]

  ...

Sheen kept trying, becoming more and more proficient. It was a feeling he had never had before, that magic... seemed to be becoming easier.

Oh merlin please let him be a Transfiguration genius.

[New Transfiguration Realm titles unlocked, please check]

[A wizard talent has been unlocked, please check]

Sheen's eyes narrowed slightly as the panel's beep sounded.

  Step closer to his scholarship!

Suddenly the girl's voice sounded out:

"You can't use dangerous shapeshifting here! What if you blew us all up!"

Hermione spoke loudly, her tone appearing a little angry and serious.

Sheen heard nothing, his eyes stuck on the match in front of him as though he was being challenged by it, he sighed, then he spoke, confident in the words he spoke as. "Transfiguro!" the match trembled, slowly gaining a metalic coat to it, before one tip slowly sharpened as the other dulled to make a handle to hold. The silver needle shined, the reflection gleaming in Hermione's eyes as she gasped in wonder

The air froze for a moment, Hermione's words stuck in her throat.

"Merlin... I saw this in the book. Did he succeed? "

Justin's eyes also widened and he murmured impossibly.

Sheen looked up and looked at Hermione, whose ear tip had a pale pink tint along with her cheeks that were slowly reddening in embarassment, and Justin, who was watching closely.

Sheen tilted his head in confusion and Justin couldn't help but notice how much more catlike he was getting by the second. "I...i am sorry? Did you say something?"

Sheen had no idea what was going on, he was so focused he didn't hear a single word.
