Every so often, Fenris could gather the full power of his body and condense an egg like this.
If Fenris's main body failed to escape in time when facing some unknown enemy, he would be reborn through these eggs.
After a period of dormancy and growth, he would return.
So, as his final backup and trump card, every egg would be placed somewhere he considered absolutely safe.
At this stage, Fenris figured there were no enemies capable of destroying this egg under the Ancient One's protection.
As for the off chance...
A cautious rabbit had three burrows. How could Fenris possibly put all his eggs in one basket?
"All right."
Seeing that Fenris was unwilling to say more, the Ancient One did not press him. "But there is a major problem with your current body. I'm afraid..."
Right now, Fenris's body was still constantly undergoing a cycle of being torn apart and reconstructed, accompanied by pain unbearable to ordinary people. If it were anyone else, their mind might have collapsed long ago.
"It's actually not that bad."
With a thought from Fenris, the muscles in his arm began swelling wildly. In the blink of an eye, sharp claws grew from it.
As he spoke, a thin layer of black mist surfaced uncontrollably over Fenris's body, especially dense around his hand.
Shrouded in that black mist, the shape of those claws became extremely strange. One glance was enough to send a chill down the spine.
When he lightly swung his claws, even the air around them hissed beneath the strike.
Fenris could even feel an aggressively destructive force radiating through the claws wrapped in black mist. In only a moment, the decorations and furnishings inside the room began aging and decaying at high speed, as though corroded.
Clatter.
A sturdy wooden table suddenly shook, letting out a strained, sour creak.
"Fenris!"
The Ancient One gave a sharp call, instantly waking Fenris from his daze.
The changes around him startled him. His right hand quickly returned to normal.
The black mist covering his body and the purple light representing the power of the Dark Dimension also withdrew beyond his control.
"This power is far too destructive, Fenris. This cannot continue."
The Ancient One stared at Fenris helplessly. "You need to learn how to control it."
"This..."
Fenris quietly sensed his body, also somewhat lost.
Whether it was Mephisto's hell dimension or the Dark Dimension, these powers had already exceeded his current energy level. If he wanted to fully control and command them, he would still need time to grow.
Did that mean he could only keep enduring the pain of having his body torn apart until then?
And then there was this uncontrollable black mist...
"Master, do you have a solution?"
Fenris suddenly raised his head.
"I do, in a way..."
The Ancient One sighed. "I don't know whether you've heard of the Spirits of Vengeance."
"Spirits of Vengeance?"
Fenris blinked.
Wasn't that the source of Ghost Rider's power?
"The Spirits of Vengeance were created by a certain supreme being to oversee sin in the human world. When one fuses with a human, it allows that human to become a Ghost Rider, granting them powerful abilities capable of destroying souls."
Because the origins of the Spirits of Vengeance and Ghost Riders were far too complicated, the Ancient One gave only a simple explanation. "The existence of the Spirits of Vengeance is extremely unique. They are neither purely righteous nor purely evil. They can cause immense destruction, but they can also turn that power toward purification and redemption."
"They may not be as powerful as your own abilities, but they have their own unique qualities."
"The newly evolved G-cells in your body have granted you powerful adaptability. A Spirit of Vengeance may help you escape your current predicament and make it easier for you to absorb these two dimensional powers to evolve yourself."
"I see."
Fenris glanced at the Titan Encyclopedia deep within his consciousness, then slapped his thigh decisively. "All right. I'll go find Ghost Rider right now and pull the Spirit of Vengeance out of him."
"Wait!"
The Ancient One looked at the two destructive forces beginning to surge across Fenris's body again. Severe pain once more spread through him, yet Fenris listened calmly without changing expression.
"Do you remember what I told you before? Recently, Mephisto, one of the lords of the hell dimensions, has been frantically expanding his influence in the human world."
"He cannot control the Spirits of Vengeance, but he used soul contracts to control Ghost Riders who had fused with them. One of those Ghost Riders used to be a terminally ill tycoon."
"This tycoon lost himself under the influence of that immense power and began causing destruction on a massive scale, severely disrupting the balance between Earth and other dimensions."
The Ancient One sighed and said quietly, "Chaos is about to begin. The dimensions are colliding more frequently, and beyond Earth, things are even more chaotic. I simply cannot spare the time."
"I originally intended to ask you to help me deal with him. Now, it seems he has accidentally become the most suitable target for you."
"All right. I understand."
At this point, Fenris nodded, then asked, "Where do I find him?"
"New Mexico."
Watching Fenris, who looked eager to move, the Ancient One's eyes flickered faintly. She reminded him in a soft voice, "Your current power can easily be mistaken for that of an evil god, so..."
"Watch the sky."
"The sky?"
...
Morning.
The rising sun spilled golden light across the land. The weather was still cool, but in a small town not far from Xavier's School, the place was already bustling with activity.
"Come on, everyone, pull together! Be careful. Whatever you do, don't damage the statue!"
On the busiest main road in town, several thousand people were gathered around an enormous statue.
The statue looked almost exactly like Fenris's Godzilla form. It stood dozens of meters tall, especially eye-catching in this otherwise ordinary town.
The moment it was fully raised, a wave of thunderous cheers erupted from the crowd.
"I never thought Fenris would reach this point without us even noticing..."
In the distance, quite a few teachers and students from Xavier's School stood quietly watching.
Seeing the crowd cheering, Hank could not help showing a trace of envy.
"Erik's global broadcast caused quite a stir. Since then, many mutants, and even many ordinary people, have begun gathering near us. The towns around the school are becoming more and more prosperous."
Professor X stood before everyone with a gratified expression. "Without Fenris, we might still be trapped in misery. Add Erik's efforts to push things along, and it is only natural that people would rally around him."
"Professor, compared to me, he seems far more suited to being a leader."
Scott stood shoulder to shoulder with Jean Grey, looking at the enormous statue with an unreadable expression in his eyes. "I wonder what Fenris himself would think if he saw this."
"Scott, Fenris will not stay by our side forever. He has his own path to walk."
Professor X patted Cyclops on the shoulder and encouraged him. "He is one of us, but we are not his whole world. This responsibility can only be carried by you."
"I'll do my best..."
As everyone spoke back and forth, Wanda stood nearby, listening carefully without missing a single word.
"Is he really that strong?"
Wanda's curious gaze never left the statue. A scarlet glow began gathering in her palm.
"I don't believe it."
