Chapter 14 - Changes in one self

Morning felt… different.

Not dramatically.

Not in a way that could be seen immediately.

But something had shifted.

I noticed it the moment I woke up.

My body didn't feel as heavy.

Not light.

But lighter.

Like something small had been removed.

"…That's new."

I sat up slowly.

Usually, I would stay in bed longer.

Delay getting up.

Think about nothing.

But today—

There was no hesitation.

I stood.

Walked to the mirror.

And paused.

"…Huh."

Same face.

Same body.

Still overweight.

Still average.

Nothing impressive.

But—

My posture.

Slightly straighter.

My eyes.

More focused.

And somehow—

I didn't look as… tired.

"…Is that from yesterday?"

Gym.

Effort.

System.

All of it.

The change was small.

But it was real.

And that made it—

Noticeable.

"…So it's working."

That thought stayed with me longer than expected.

The walk to school felt normal.

Familiar streets.

Same people.

Same routine.

But internally—

There was a quiet awareness.

Each step felt intentional again.

Not automatic.

Not forced.

Just…

Controlled.

School looked the same.

Nothing had changed.

And yet—

As I walked through the gates—

Something felt different.

Not the place.

The reactions.

Subtle.

Almost unnoticeable.

But there.

A glance that lasted a second longer.

A look that didn't immediately dismiss me.

"…Am I imagining this?"

Maybe.

Or maybe—

Charm.

That stat again.

Working quietly.

Without announcement.

Without exaggeration.

Just—

Influence.

"…Interesting."

I entered the classroom.

Same seats.

Same noise.

Same routine.

I took my usual spot.

Sat down.

For a moment—

Everything was normal.

Then—

"…Wait."

Something felt off.

Not wrong.

Just—

Different.

I couldn't pinpoint it immediately.

Until—

I realized.

No one had made a comment.

No jokes.

No casual remarks.

Nothing.

"…That's new."

Usually—

There was always something.

Small.

Dismissive.

Not direct.

But present.

Now—

Nothing.

Just—

Normal.

And somehow—

That felt unfamiliar.

"…So this is what normal is."

I leaned back slightly.

Letting that settle.

Then—

My gaze shifted.

Not intentionally.

Not consciously.

But naturally.

Toward her.

Seara.

She was sitting near the window.

Same as always.

Same posture.

Same quiet presence.

But today—

Something felt different.

Not about her.

About the moment.

Because this time—

I didn't look away immediately.

I observed.

Not staring.

Just…

Looking.

And for a brief second—

Her gaze lifted.

Met mine.

Directly.

…Oh.

I looked away.

Not abruptly.

But not slowly either.

Just enough to make it seem natural.

"…That happened."

No reaction from her.

At least—

None that I could see.

But the moment stayed.

Clear.

Sharp.

Real.

"…That's new too."

Before—

That wouldn't have happened.

Or maybe it did—

And I never noticed.

Either way—

It felt different now.

Classes passed normally.

Notes.

Lectures.

Noise.

Nothing unusual.

Until—

Break time.

I stood up.

Not thinking much.

Just moving.

But as I stepped out into the hallway—

I saw her again.

Closer this time.

Seara.

Standing near the lockers.

Alone.

"…This is it."

The thought came instantly.

Clear.

Sharp.

Not forced.

Not triggered by the system.

Just—

Right.

"…Talk."

Simple.

But not easy.

My steps slowed slightly.

Not stopping.

Just…

Adjusting.

"…What do I even say?"

Nothing complicated.

Nothing impressive.

Just—

Normal.

I approached.

Stopped a few steps away.

Then—

"…Hey."

She looked up.

Direct.

Calm.

"…Hey."

Her voice was quiet.

But steady.

Not surprised.

Not dismissive.

Just—

Present.

"…Good start."

A small silence followed.

Not awkward.

Just—

Unfilled.

"…Continue."

"I think we're in the same class."

Brilliant.

Truly groundbreaking.

"…Idiot."

She nodded slightly.

"Yeah."

Short answer.

But not cold.

Just simple.

"…Okay."

That wasn't bad.

Better than expected.

Another pause.

Then—

"You don't talk much."

She said it casually.

Not accusing.

Just observing.

"…Fair."

"I usually don't."

Honest.

No point pretending otherwise.

She studied me for a second.

Not deeply.

Just enough to notice something.

"…What?"

"Did you change something?"

…Wait.

"…What?"

That wasn't expected.

"…No."

The answer came automatically.

But—

Was it true?

"…Not exactly."

"I just… started doing a few things."

Vague.

Safe.

She nodded slightly.

"Feels different."

That was it.

No elaboration.

No explanation.

But—

It landed.

Because she noticed.

Without the system.

Without stats.

Without numbers.

Just—

Naturally.

"…So it's visible."

That thought hit deeper than expected.

Then—

A shift.

Subtle.

Internal.

[Chain Quest Completed][Expand Social Range: 3/3]

"…Finally."

[Reward Unlocked: Basic Insight]

Something changed.

Not outside.

Inside.

My perception sharpened.

Not visually.

Not physically.

But—

Awareness.

I looked at her again.

And for a brief moment—

Something… layered over her.

Not an image.

Not words.

Just—

A feeling.

Faint.

Unclear.

[Curious… Slightly Guarded… Observing]

…What?

I blinked.

The sensation disappeared instantly.

Like it had never been there.

"…Was that Insight?"

It wasn't clear.

Not precise.

But it was something.

Something new.

Something useful.

"…Interesting."

I looked at her again.

Nothing.

Normal.

"…Not consistent."

Good.

That meant—

It wasn't overpowered.

She shifted slightly.

"Anyway, I have to go."

"…Yeah."

"See you."

"…See you."

She walked away.

Just like that.

Simple.

No drama.

No weight.

But—

It mattered.

Because that—

Was real.

I stood there for a moment longer.

Processing.

"…That worked."

Not perfectly.

Not smoothly.

But it worked.

And that was enough.

Then—

Something unexpected happened.

From behind—

A voice.

"Bro."

I turned.

A guy from class.

Someone I barely talked to.

"…Yeah?"

He looked at me.

Then smirked.

"When did you start talking to girls?"

…What?

"…What?"

"You were just standing there like it's normal."

He shook his head slightly.

"That's new."

"…Is it?"

"It is."

A pause.

Then—

"You joining gym or something?"

I froze for half a second.

"…How do you—"

"You look different."

Simple.

Direct.

Unfiltered.

"…So it's that obvious."

"…Yeah."

He shrugged.

"Not much. But enough."

Then—

He walked off.

Just like that.

Leaving me there.

Thinking.

"…So people notice."

Not everything.

Not details.

But—

Change.

Even small ones.

And for some reason—

That felt more impactful than anything else.

Because this time—

It wasn't the system telling me.

It was real.

And as I stood there—

A quiet thought formed.

If such small changes—

Were already visible…

Then what happens—

When they're not small anymore?
