CHAPTER 5
Peter and I headed toward the colosseum for the so-called friendly sparring match. The moment we arrived, the place was already filled with students. The arena was massive, with a wide circular battlefield at the center and rows of seats surrounding it. The atmosphere was loud, full of excitement, as if everyone had been waiting for something like this to happen.
I looked around calmly while walking beside Peter.
"As for me," I said quietly, "I will teach that descendant of my brother a proper lesson."
Peter looked at me, confused but too nervous to ask what I meant.
"Hey, dude," he suddenly said, his voice shaky. "I am scared. Logan might beat me into pulp. That guy is not normal."
I glanced at him.
This child is really scared.
I sighed. "Relax. You are overthinking it."
He forced a laugh. "Yeah… yeah, maybe."
Before we could continue, a loud voice echoed across the arena.
"Everyone, settle down. The sparring will begin soon."
A facilitator stood at the center of the colosseum, commanding everyone's attention.
"Now, everyone, the student council is here."
The crowd immediately became more focused.
"The president, Lara Wilkins."
A girl stepped forward, her presence calm yet powerful. The moment she appeared, the entire arena seemed to quiet down on its own.
"The vice president, Claire Yohan."
Another girl followed, her expression sharp and confident, her eyes filled with competitiveness.
"And the secretary, Harry Byorn."
A boy stepped forward, smiling casually, as if everything was just a game to him.
Peter suddenly grabbed my arm.
"My crush… Lara is there… oh my…" he whispered, blushing heavily.
I smirked slightly. "Blushing, huh?"
He quickly looked away. "Shut up."
I leaned back a little, my eyes drifting as memories surfaced again.
"I had a crush before too," I said absentmindedly. "Back then… she was called Aphrodite."
Peter blinked. "What? Who is that? That sounds suspicious. Drax, let me find out who that is."
I ignored him and continued. "And I had a friend named Apolo… he was like a vice to me."
Peter suddenly smiled. "Oh, that is great."
But I was no longer paying attention.
"Wake me up when it starts," I said, sitting down. "I want to rest. My voice is still a bit sore."
Peter looked at me in disbelief. "You are seriously going to sleep right now?"
I closed my eyes. "Yeah. Just wake me up."
"…Fine," he said. "Sleep well."
Meanwhile, at the center of the arena, the facilitator continued.
"We have three representatives here who will choose their teams."
"Team Lara."
"Team Claire."
"And Team Harry."
The crowd became more excited as the selection began.
"Vice President Claire, you may choose first."
Claire did not hesitate. She pointed directly.
"I choose Logan."
The crowd reacted instantly.
"Miss Claire picks Logan."
Logan stepped forward with a wide grin. "Yes. I got picked. Let's see what Drax can do now."
His eyes scanned the crowd, clearly looking for me.
But I was still asleep.
"Next, Secretary Harry," the facilitator said.
Harry looked around and pointed at a quiet boy wearing a necklace.
"You. Come here."
The boy stepped forward nervously.
"What is your name?" the facilitator asked.
"H-Hert Fal," he answered.
"Alright, Hert Fal, you are on Team Harry."
Then came the final pick.
"President Lara, your turn."
Lara scanned the area, her eyes eventually landing on me.
"That one," she said. "The one who is sleeping."
There was a moment of silence.
Then the crowd burst into laughter.
"Hey, you idiot, wake up," Peter shouted, shaking me. "The president chose you. She is pointing at you. Hurry."
I slowly opened my eyes.
"…What?"
Peter pointed. "You got picked."
I stood up lazily.
"Oh… I see."
Some students started laughing again.
"Did he really just sleep during selection?"
"Who is that guy?"
But the moment Lara glanced at them, her aura alone silenced everyone.
"Enough," she said calmly.
The arena went quiet again.
"The first round will be Team Claire versus Team Harry."
"The rules are simple. Make your opponent fall or force them out of the red line."
"The teams, step forward."
Claire, Logan, Harry, and Hert entered the arena.
"Be ready," Harry said casually. "Claire, you already look pissed."
Claire frowned. "You are already annoying."
Harry laughed. "Hert, just stay calm. Claire can be a bit hot-headed sometimes."
Wooden swords were handed to them.
"Begin."
At the same time, I leaned back and closed my eyes again.
Lara glanced at me from the side.
"Did he just go back to sleep?" she muttered. "I should not have picked him… this is troublesome."
Back in the arena—
"Claire, I am coming," Harry said as he rushed forward, swinging his sword toward her right side.
Claire reacted instantly, dodging the attack and countering with a precise thrust toward his center.
But Harry stepped back just in time, avoiding the hit.
Meanwhile—
Logan faced Hert.
Logan smirked. "Oh no… another weakling."
He rushed forward with a heavy swing.
Hert panicked.
"I… I surrender!"
Before Logan's sword could even touch him, Hert stepped back and raised his hands.
The entire arena went silent for a second.
Then—
"What?" Harry shouted. "Why did you surrender? Are you serious?"
Claire clicked her tongue. "You idiot."
Harry suddenly realized—
"You took your eyes off me," Claire said coldly.
"Wait—"
Too late.
Claire struck forward, landing a solid hit.
At the same time—
"Behind you!" Logan shouted.
Logan grabbed Harry from behind, holding him in place.
Harry struggled. "This is unfair—"
Claire stepped forward and delivered a clean strike to his stomach.
Harry dropped to his knees.
"Match over," the facilitator announced.
"Team Claire wins."
Claire exhaled. "Finally."
Logan smirked. "That was easy."
Harry sighed while holding his stomach. "Two against one… that is crazy."
They stepped back to rest.
"Prepare for the final match," the facilitator announced.
"Team President versus Team Vice President."
Peter immediately looked at me.
"Drax… it is your turn."
I slowly opened my eyes again.
"…Finally."
I stood up and walked toward the arena.
The air shifted.
The atmosphere became heavier.
This was no longer just a friendly spar.
This…
Was where things would start to get interesting.
