Chapter 6 - READY FOR A FIGHT

Thump Thump Thump

Footsteps were sounded as Rezel was held tightly by his guard.

He looked calm as he always did whenever he was about to talk to Chris.

He sighed, staring at the watching faces that looked at him as he strolled along to the emperor.

It became visible to see the green eyes of Rezel.

They became so clear that they could even be seen from far away.

The green eyes never paid any concern for him.

He took it as a natural change and never paid much attention into it.

He looked down again and once more fixed his gaze on the road.

His eyes shaked once he turned his glance to his fingers.

"Holy S**t", screamed Rezel forcing the guard to turn his face.

Finger nails as long as a HB pencil.

Growing unnaturally fast.

Just yesterday, Rezel had never noticed this and today he experienced a supernatural growth of his nails.

There were uncomfortable whenever he looked at them.

The green spots that surrounded them increased his feelings towards them.

He looked up and left the sight of his nails.

'What is happening to me?', he thought as he walked along.

It wasn't bad enough to have the green patch at his back.

The sudden growth of his nails and green spots that surrounded them made his ideology of transformation prominent.

The symptoms that he experienced were no longer human related.

The symbiote was definitely the number one suspect.

Rezel sobbed. "I need to get back to that symbiote".

Finally, they arrived at the emperor's palace.

It was heavily guarded with soldiers at every corner.

It was also large compared to the rest of the buildings.

The decor was exquisite.

A large lion was the fist thing noticed by Rezel as he stepped inside.

It was a stone and metal carved statue.

It was stationed just at the centre of the palace.

The hay patches that placed on the roof gave it a decent but royal touch.

A huge ball and a large crown on a metal pave way also caught the eye of Rezel.

He was awe-strucked.

The emperor's live in a place like this while the rest of his people managed to scramble at their unkempt huts and mud houses.

"Who is this?", the guards at the door questioned the one guard who held Rezel.

There stood two.

One of the left and right of the huge door.

They were wearing a hard metal sewn textile long gown with slippers.

Rezel stared at the guard that asked the question from head to toe.

Not much weaponry at all.

Just what looked like a baseball bat and a small ancient pistol covered in grass possibly to act as a disguise.

It wasn't fooling him though, he could easily read through it.

The place wasn't properly guarded and a faint smile on the face of Rezel followed next.

'It is as easy as ABC', the voices snapped back at him as Rezel still stood there motionless.

"A convict we just brought in two days ago.

The emperor sent for him", the guard holding the convict finally replied after a brief moment of silence.

"Oh yes, we are quite complacent with that piece of information....Please, carry on", the other guard said as the door was finally opened.

"The exterior decor is better but the interior royal manor is prominent", Rezel said looking from left to right.

Flowers and vases lined through the hallway as a fresh scent followed every step made by Rezel.

Finally, they reached the doorway.

Lined with flowers and ornamental plants, the door was large enough for an elephant to fit through which emphasised the sized of the overall building.

They walked in, a chill breeze flowed past the convict as he stepped forward.

No air-conditioners inside the room.

Two thrones still became clear, the emperor and his wife.

Chris sat up when he finally saw Rezel.

"Why did it take so long for him to arrive", Chris spoke releasing an unprecedented aura.

The guard froze and dropped to his knees just through the constant glances of Chris.

This man was absolutely insane.

Although, Chris still looked like he remained on high alert.

His hand was constantly placed on the handle of his blade as he kept staring at Rezel as he walked closer.

"I have asked you this question a million times.

Why did you come here?!", this time the emperor had completely made his blade visible to the eye.

Finally, he muttered. "I seek refuge and a glimpse of civilisation.

I don't know why you treat me like this but I request my rights to be heard as a visitor to your noble village", Rezel finally mentioned to Chris as he took a bow.

Chris smirked, he finally got through to Rezel.

He shook his head and continued.

"Sorry, but we do not usually entertain visitors.

We apologise for the unpleasant welcome".

Rezel chuckled silently almost as soft as a whisper.

His first step was complete.

The combined power of the voices in his head and his self will had earned him the emperor's trust.

Even with the inhuman events experienced by Chris towards Rezel, the emperor still gave way to his condolences.

His eyes still locked onto the blade.

"Is it possible that I could acquire these blades from within your grasp", Rezel spoke still gazing on the red flaming sword.

"That is rather unlikely.

Unless, you can kill me and earn the spot of emperor just as I did to my father", Chris spoke gesturing with his hands.

"Then I challenge you for your blade and the position of emperor", Rezel blasted back to Chris without warning who was stunned to hear those words.

The challenge for leadership was actually only a week away as the custom foretold, meaning that it was possible for Rezel to challenge the current emperor.

All he needed was to get his hands on that blade.

The guards stiffened, turning their heads.

Could this convict truly be serious in challenging for this role as emperor.

That was truly a big step to take and bigs words to muster.

Chris stepped down from his throne and walked up to Rezel, his hands still tightened by the guards.

"I hope you know what you have gotten yourself into.

I am the most powerful being in this village and I tend to keep it that way.

I am still too young to die", Chris mustered at Rezel who just calmly watched as he blasted words at him.

Rezel didn't mind.... instead, he laid a tender scratch on the arm of the emperor easily catching his attention.

The metal patched suit that he usually wore didn't have the arms length to prevent Chris from not feeling the scratch.

His eyes changed direction, facing the nails of Rezel that he used to scratch him.

His heart dropped, pupils shaking.

'Such long nails.

Was the man he intended to fight even human.... ?'.
