Three days later, Elena left the hospital.
Alexander drove her to a small apartment he prepared for her.
"You can stay here for now," he said.
"Why are you helping me?" Elena asked.
Alexander looked at her and said,
"Because Daniel is not a good man… and I don't like him."
That was not the full truth, but Elena didn't ask more.
Alexander put a folder on the table.
"What is this?" she asked.
"Evidence," he answered.
Elena opened the folder.
Inside there were photos.
Photos of Daniel and Sophia together.
In restaurants.
In hotels.
In airports.
They had been together for a long time.
Not weeks.
Not months.
Years.
Elena's hands started shaking.
"So… I was the other woman in my own marriage," she said quietly.
Alexander nodded.
"There is more," he said.
He showed her a document.
Insurance paper.
Life insurance.
In Elena's name.
If she died…
Daniel would receive a huge amount of money.
Elena slowly sat down.
Now everything made sense.
Marriage.
Hatred.
Divorce.
Accident.
It was all planned.
Daniel didn't just want to leave her.
He wanted money from her death.
Elena closed the folder slowly.
"They wanted to kill me for money," she said.
Alexander looked at her.
"So what will you do now?"

"They destroyed my life," she said.
