Daniel stood near the hospital bed, looking at Elena with cold eyes.
"You're lucky," he said. "The doctor said you almost died."
Elena looked at him silently.
Lucky?
Was she lucky because she survived…
Or unlucky because she married him?
"I heard it was an accident," Daniel continued.
"You should be more careful when driving."
Elena stared at him.
She remembered what Alexander told her.
The truck followed her for twenty minutes.
This was not an accident.
Someone wanted her dead.
And the person who knew she would be on that road…
Was Daniel.
Elena slowly closed her eyes.
When she opened them again, something inside her had changed.
She was not the same Elena anymore.
"I want the divorce," she said calmly.
Daniel looked surprised for a moment.
"I will sign everything. I will leave the house. I want nothing from your family," she continued.
Daniel nodded.
"Good. That will make things easier."
He turned and left the room.
He didn't even ask if she was okay.
After he left, Alexander entered the room again.
"You finally understand," he said.
Elena looked at him.
"Yes."
Her eyes were no longer weak.
"They wanted me dead," she said quietly.
"So now… I want revenge."
Alexander looked at her for a few seconds and smiled slightly.
