## Chapter 31: When Will Vengeance Be Repaid? (Part 1)
On king's way home, he passed an arcade. At its entrance, two cartoon character mascots were handing out flyers: one was a snow-white rabbit mascot, and the other a pink penguin mascot.
Inside a coffee shop, the assassin commander, who had been closely monitoring king's movements, watched as king reached the hidden ambush point of their meticulously laid trap. He quickly gave the order: "Xing Ci, prepare. King will soon be at the arcade. Go forward and stall King, divert his attention, and create a sniping opportunity for Gong Jian. Remember, do not obstruct Gong Jian's line of fire."
"Understood."
"Yes."
Two cold, yet slightly tense, replies came through the Bluetooth communicator.
Xing Ci, disguised as the rabbit mascot, was handing out flyers for the arcade. His gaze swept over king approaching. He pulled a flyer from the stack in his hand, ready to step forward and stall king, finding a way to distract him.
Who would have thought, the other penguin mascot moved a step faster, stepping forward and handing a flyer to king: "This... this sir, please take a look at our promotional flyer."
king took the flyer from the penguin mascot's hand and looked up at the arcade. A thought flashed through his mind: Why not go in and play a few rounds?
In his previous life, almost everyone had computers at home, yet internet cafes were still booming. The reason was the atmosphere of playing games at internet cafes. Similarly, king inherited King's gaming talent and skill, making him quite invincible in games. Playing alone at home was merely for leisure and boredom. If he played at the arcade, it might pique his interest.
"Sir, our... our arcade is opening today, and we have... have special promotions. If you recharge... recharge one hundred, we'll give you fifty free. It's a really good deal..."
The penguin mascot in front of king spoke haltingly. He looked at the penguin mascot with suspicion. Logically, for a job that clearly required good communication skills, why would a business hire someone who stutters? Wasn't this embarrassing for them?
"Oh, let me see."
He glanced at the promotional flyer and found that the arcade indeed had excellent promotions today. There was a "play three hours, get one free" activity, and also the "recharge one hundred, get fifty free" promotion. In any case, it was a great deal.
"Xing Ci, don't go up there anymore. Your mission is complete. Prepare to retreat at any time."
"Yes."
Xing Ci's sigh of relief came through the communicator.
The assassin commander stared intently at king and said in a low voice: "Gong Jian, prepare. Gong Jian, prepare. This time we must end King's life. Our employer is losing patience. We don't have much time to waste."
"Understood."
A deep breath came through the communicator, followed by a cold voice. It seemed Gong Jian had entered killer mode.
At the same time, Xixi was also closely watching king. From a distant location, she held binoculars, staring at king and the penguin mascot, praying in her heart: "Mei Niangzi, you must succeed. Otherwise... otherwise..."
She could no longer imagine the consequences of failure. With King's strength, if he reacted, Mei Niangzi's frail body probably wouldn't withstand a single punch from him.
It turned out that the penguin mascot was actually Mei Niangzi in disguise. Her objective was to get close to king, distract him, and then find an opportunity for a fatal blow, completing her revenge.
"Anyway, there's nothing to do at home. Might as well play!"
king made up his mind, staring at the flyer given by the penguin as he walked into the arcade. Should I recharge three hundred, or play for three hours? What a dilemma!
"What a chance! Gong Jian, it's up to you!"
"The time is now, Mei Niangzi, you must seize it!"
The assassin commander and Xixi saw king walking towards the arcade while looking at the flyer. Their eyes lit up, and they simultaneously let out a low, heavy gasp.
"Understood."
Gong Jian calmly stared through the scope of his sniper rifle. The red dot in the crosshairs locked onto king's head. His finger gently rested on the trigger, and he counted the seconds in his heart: "One, two, three, Heaven welcomes you, King!"
*Crack!*
The faint sound of the bullet cutting through the air spread.
At the same time, Mei Niangzi, who had previously been so scared she was babbling and stuttering when facing king directly, snapped out of her shock. She quickly turned around, aiming the dart launcher on her head at king's head. Seeing that king hadn't reacted, she was overjoyed: "King, go to hell and repent to my two husbands and my son!"
*Click!*
The tiny, irritating sound of the dart hitting something resounded.
"How... how could this be..."
Mei Niangzi, inside the penguin mascot, watched with wide eyes. Her pupils contracted, and transparent watery fluid drooled from her mouth. She stared unwillingly at king's back, wanting to fire the "liquid dart" she had prepared for so long within the dart launcher. However, all her strength had already left her body. Her body uncontrollably fell forward, her heart filled with utter despair: "King... when did you discover me? And how did you attack me? I didn't sense anything at all. King... truly worthy of being the man with the strongest title... In my next life... I never want to be your enemy again..."
"Mei Niangzi!!"
From afar, Xixi saw through her binoculars that Mei Niangzi collapsed instantly without any warning and didn't get up again. She knew it was over. Mei Niangzi had died by King's hand. She didn't even know how Mei Niangzi died, only that it was under King's mysterious and terrifying attack. She had seen online that besides possessing immense power, King was also an esper. Perhaps Mei Niangzi had died under King's mysterious superpower. But hadn't Kele Ren and his group also died under King's superpower? Perhaps this was fate.
(King indeed possesses superpowers, but it's not a curse, it's an aura of luck!)
She thought sorrowfully, gritting her teeth: "King, you just wait! The vengeance for killing my entire family, I will never forget it. I will definitely make you repay your blood debt! Mei Niangzi, rest in peace. Don't worry, Granny will definitely avenge you. Go tell Kele Ren and his group that they should prepare to welcome King's arrival."
Her eyes were bloodshot, killing intent flared. The dart launcher on her head aimed at king, who was crouching down to examine Mei Niangzi's corpse. "King, don't even think about humiliating our daughter-in-law's body again. Go to hell!"
The head-mounted dart launcher whizzed, firing a liquid dart as fine as a hair, shooting straight towards king.
While Xixi was consumed by grief, the Wang Wang Assassin Group's members also secretly lamented!
"Damn it, the bullet was blocked by the mascot."
Gong Jian's frustrated voice came through the assassin commander's communicator.
"Now is not the time to talk about this. King must have noticed something amiss. We must leave quickly." The assassin commander also sighed regretfully, but he quickly calmed down and ordered: "Xing Ci, Leng Feng, Li Ren... you few, retreat quickly. Remember, retreat without a trace. Don't let King discover your identities."
Xing Ci and the others didn't reply but faithfully carried out the assassin commander's orders. This was one of the assassins' principles: if the first strike misses, retreat far away and continue to look for the next assassination opportunity, never giving up.
Many thanks for all your tips, no matter how small, and for your support!
