The next morning, soft sunlight filtered through the windows of The Healing Lantern inn.
Luo Feng, Lina, and Suki went downstairs for breakfast. The moment they entered the dining area, two cheerful 9-year-old twins — a boy and a girl with matching bright smiles and neat uniforms — came running up to welcome them.
"Good morning, guests!" the boy said with a bow.
"Welcome to breakfast!" the girl added, giggling.
They were Luke and Lisa, the innkeeper's children. They quickly served warm bread, fresh milk, honey, soft-boiled eggs, and slices of fruit. The food smelled wonderful and felt nourishing after the long journey.
As they ate, Feng looked at Suki with gentle eyes and spoke softly.
"Suki, from now on, you will be our eldest daughter. You can call me 'Dad' or 'Father', and Lina 'Mom' or 'Mother'. Do you like that? Or do you not want that?"
Suki looked up at both of them, her eyes shining with sudden happiness. She smiled brightly, the first real, wide smile she had shown in a long time.
"I agree!" she said cheerfully. "Now I have a new Mom and Dad… and a little sister or brother coming soon!"
Lina's eyes misted over with emotion as she reached out and gently stroked Suki's hair. Feng smiled warmly and nodded.
They enjoyed the breakfast together, the atmosphere light and comforting for the first time in many months.
After they finished eating, Feng stood up and walked to the counter where the innkeeper and his wife were working. Luke and Lisa were helping nearby.
"Excuse me," Feng said politely. "My wife is pregnant and only two months away from giving birth. She cannot travel easily anymore. May she and our daughter stay here at the inn while I go out to work? I will pay you fairly for their room and meals."
The innkeeper and his wife looked at Lina's large belly and Suki's hopeful face, then smiled kindly.
"Of course," the innkeeper said. "She can stay as long as she needs. We'll take good care of them."
Suki suddenly spoke up, her voice full of determination.
"Dad, I want to work here too! I can help serve food and clean. Please let me!"
The innkeeper chuckled and patted her head. "If your father agrees, you're welcome to help. We can always use an extra pair of hands."
Feng nodded. "Thank you. She can help during the day."
He turned back to Lina and Suki.
"I need to go to the Adventurers Guild to register for quests and earn money. We'll need it for the baby and our new life here."
Lina smiled softly, one hand resting on her belly.
"Go safely, Feng. We will be fine here. Take care of yourself."
Suki waved enthusiastically. "Come back soon, Dad!"
Feng gave them both a gentle smile, then stepped out of the inn and headed toward the Adventurers Guild in the heart of the holy city.
Behind him, Lina and Suki remained in the warm, safe inn, beginning their new chapter in the Holy Kingdom of Elysium — a place protected by the God of Healing and Cure.
The long, painful journey had finally brought them to a new home.
