Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: A Promise with Butterfree

After leaving Maiden's Peak, Ash and his friends entered a vast and beautiful plain. Flowers bloomed everywhere, and the climate was gentle and pleasant. It was a paradise for many Bug type and Flying type Pokémon.

Ash's Butterfree seemed especially excited, fluttering gracefully through the sky and greeting others of its kind they encountered along the way.

"It looks like Butterfree really likes it here," Misty said with a smile as she watched it dancing happily in the air.

"Yeah, this environment suits it perfectly," Brock agreed.

Ash watched Butterfree as well, feeling happy for it.

Butterfree had been one of the very first Pokémon he caught. From a weak Caterpie, it had evolved step by step, accompanying him through countless battles and adventures. The bond between them ran deep.

That day, as they crossed a hillside covered in blooming flowers, Butterfree suddenly grew restless. It circled in the air, constantly glancing toward a certain direction, letting out urgent and eager cries.

"What's wrong, Butterfree?" Ash asked with concern, following its gaze.

In the sea of flowers not far away, a group of Butterfree were performing a courtship dance.

Among them, one individual stood out. Its wings were not the usual white, but shimmered with brilliant rainbow hues.

It was an extremely rare Shiny Butterfree, the very same one that, in the original story, became Ash's Butterfree's mate.

The Shiny Butterfree moved with elegant grace. As it danced beneath the sunlight, scales drifted from its wings like radiant rainbow rain, breathtakingly beautiful.

Ash's Butterfree's eyes followed it closely, filled with admiration and longing.

"It's a Shiny Butterfree!" Misty exclaimed.

"Looks like your Butterfree is completely captivated," Brock said with a chuckle.

Unable to hold back any longer, Ash's Butterfree flew into the group and began dancing around the Shiny Butterfree, doing its best to show its charm.

Though it was not Shiny, it had been carefully trained by Ash and tempered through many battles. Its movements were just as strong and graceful, its gaze steady and confident.

The two Butterfree met in midair. Gradually, their dances synchronized. The scales from their wings intertwined, forming an even more dreamlike glow.

They circled one another, calling out joyfully, as if expressing their feelings.

Clearly, Ash's Butterfree had won the Shiny Butterfree's favor.

Seeing this scene, Ash felt both happiness for Butterfree and a faint ache of reluctance.

He understood that Butterfree had found an important partner in its life.

The two Butterfree flew back to Ash. His Butterfree gently nuzzled his hand, then glanced at its Shiny companion. In its eyes were affection, attachment, and a quiet plea.

Ash crouched down and softly stroked Butterfree's head, his voice gentle yet firm. "I understand, Butterfree. You've found someone important to you, haven't you?"

Butterfree nodded vigorously, letting out a cry filled with both joy and reluctance.

Ash smiled. Though there was sadness in his eyes, there was even more blessing. "It's alright. This is your happiness, your choice. You should pursue your own life. Stay here with your partner, live freely in this beautiful garden, and build your future together."

He took out Butterfree's Poké Ball, but did not immediately recall it. Instead, he continued, "Let's part ways here for now. But this is not goodbye forever. I'll keep getting stronger. I'll travel farther and see a wider world. I believe that one day, somewhere in this world, we'll meet again."

His gaze shifted briefly to the beautiful Shiny Butterfree, then returned to his own partner as he made a solemn promise. "When that day comes, if you're still willing to travel with me, I'll come find you. I'll take you and your partner with me, and we'll see all the wonders of the world together. That's my promise to you."

"Freee…" Butterfree seemed to understand. Tears shimmered in its eyes. It rubbed its face against Ash's cheek one last time, expressing gratitude and reluctance.

The Shiny Butterfree fluttered closer as well and gave a soft cry toward Ash, as if offering thanks.

Misty and Brock watched quietly from the side, offering their heartfelt blessings.

Finally, amid a sky filled with drifting scales that sparkled like blessings in the air, Ash's Butterfree and its Shiny partner rose together. They circled three times in the sky, as if giving a final farewell, then flew toward the depths of the flower sea, toward the future that belonged to them.

Ash stood where he was, watching their figures disappear at the horizon. Only then did he slowly lower his gaze, gripping the now empty Poké Ball tightly in his hand.

"Goodbye, Butterfree… Be happy," he whispered in his heart.

[ Ding! The host and Butterfree have formed a heartfelt promise. Respecting a Pokémon's natural choice and emotional needs has deepened bond understanding. ]

Note: No direct World Point reward was granted here, as the farewell follows the story's progression, but hidden parameters in the bond between the character and Pokémon have increased.

After a brief moment of sadness, Ash lifted his spirits again. He carefully put away the empty Poké Ball, his eyes becoming even more determined. "Alright, let's keep moving forward. To grow stronger, and to fulfill my promise to Butterfree one day."

Pikachu leapt onto his shoulder and rubbed its cheek against his, offering comfort and support.

Carrying blessings for their companion and hope for the future, Ash, Misty, and Brock once again set out on their journey. This farewell was not an ending, but a step toward a better reunion.
