Chapter 16 - Tokyo No.1 Colony (1)

I was falling. Ah… right. When you enter a colony, you spawn mid-air.

For a split second, the city rushed toward me—broken streets, empty buildings, cracked rooftops—and I quickly twisted my body in the air so I could land properly. I bent my knees as I plan to land on my feet.

Hold on…

A strange thought suddenly popped into my mind as I was falling.

Can I fly like a rocket?

I blinked.

That idea felt so random that it almost made me laugh, but at the same time… why not? I had seen sorcerers do ridiculous things with cursed energy and with their cursed techniques already.

Let me try it.

I gathered cursed energy and activated my technique multiple times as I released small bursts of fire beneath my feet.

For a moment, I actually stopped falling to the floor

Oh!

I floated maybe six meters in the air.

Well… floated might be too generous.

It felt more like being strapped to a rocket without any stabilizers. My body jerked wildly as the flames pushed me upward, and I immediately started wobbling in the air like a drunk drone.

"Whoa—wait—wait—"

I tried adjusting the flames. Bad idea.

The bursts became uneven, and suddenly I shot sideways, spun once in mid-air, and crashed straight into the pavement.

Dust exploded everywhere. I lay there for a moment, staring at the sky.

"…Worth it," I muttered. I slowly pushed myself off the ground and brushed dust off my skirt.

I'll need to train that. Flying would be useful. Very useful.

I finally looked around the colony.

The area looked like a quiet residential district—rows of silent apartment buildings, abandoned streets. The whole place had that strange post-apocalyptic stillness the Culling Game areas always seemed to have.

I crossed my arms. As I felt cold for a second

I wonder where Yuji and Choso are…

The plan was to meet up with Hiromi Higuruma.

Yeah. About that.

"Hell no," I muttered.

Yuji could handle that.

I sucked at talk-no-jutsu. The last time I tried convincing someone, Kinji Hakari beat me half to death.

I sighed and started walking down the street.

That was when I noticed someone approaching from the opposite side.

A girl. Long hair.

That hairstyle…

Wait.

Isn't that the girl who was twenty-two and wanted fifteen-year-old Megumi Fushiguro to be her sugar daddy?

I squinted.

What was her name again…?

I knew she was a bum, but I couldn't remember the name.

I chuckled as I walked toward her.

The moment she noticed me walking towards her, her expression changed.

Ah. So she was here to attack me.

Too bad.

She suddenly charged forward and threw a punch at my face.

It was… honestly terrible.

I stepped to the side and dodged it easily.

Then her hair suddenly whipped forward like a weapon.

Right. Hair technique.

Before the strike could land, I grabbed the strand mid-swing.

Her eyes widened.

"What—?!"

Without saying anything, I wrapped the hair around my hand and started spinning.

Fast. Very fast.

Her entire body lifted off the ground as I spun her like a human toy.

"AAAAAH—!!"

She screamed as the world blurred around her.

I kept rotating.

I was rotating so fast. Multiple rotations per second

Her body whipped through the air while she shrieked in panic.

"STOP—PLEASE—!"

Her voice cracked.

"I'll do whatever you want—!"

"I'm sorr—"

I slowed down gradually so I wouldn't accidentally kill her.

The moment I released her, she slammed onto the ground and immediately crawled away before collapsing in a corner.

She started violently puking.

After a few seconds, she wiped her mouth weakly and grabbed her hair.

"This hurts… ow…"

She groaned. Her eyes were watery.

I mean that would have hurt...

Then she looked up at me.

"Why did you attack me, little sister?"

I stared at her.

The audacity.

"You were the one who attacked me," I said flatly.

She froze.

Now what should I do with her…

Should I go to her base?

Can I win against Reggie Star…?

I probably should be able to.

I learned the Reverse Cursed Technique now.

I looked down at her.

"Bring me to your boss."

She stiffened.

"Boss? I don't ha—"

Before she could finish the lie, I casually ignited a small flame in my palm.

Her eyes locked onto the fire.

"…W... W. What are you doing?"

I slowly started walking toward her.

With a wide smile.

A very unsettling maniac smile.

She crawled backwards in panic.

"S-Stop! I will... I will bring you to my boss!"

Her back hit the wall behind her.

She looked like she might start crying.

Alright. That was enough psychological damage.

I wasn't planning to torture her anyway. I had morals.

If I killed someone, it would be quick unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Alright," I said.

"Lead the way."

She hesitated.

"I… I don't mind telling you… But… please do me a favor in return."

I studied her for a moment.

She wasn't evil.

Just desperate.

Her entire personality screamed survival mode. She would stick up to whoever guaranteed her survival, and she would easily betray if it meant she could survive. Honestly I can't hat her for that as I am the same.

"What's your name?" I asked coldly.

"…Remi."

Right. Remi.

I nodded.

"I will be honest," I said calmly.

"Once I meet your boss, I'm going to fight them."

Her eyes widened.

"I know who he is. His name is Reggie. He has a few followers."

I stepped closer and grabbed her by the back of the neck, and I squeezed hard.

"I will kill them during that fight."

She looked at me like I had just announced the end of the world.

Then I released her.

"Now lead the way."

She nodded rapidly.

I noticed her hands were shaking.

We walked toward Kanamecho Station in complete silence.

The streets felt eerie.

Empty cars. Shattered windows. Destroyed buildings.

At one point, I suddenly stopped.

Remi looked back nervously.

I walked into a nearby shop and grabbed several thick ropes from a storage shelf.

They were huge—thicker than my arm.

Remi watched me with visible confusion.

She clearly wanted to ask what I planned to do with them, but she wisely kept quiet.

After another four minutes of walking, she stopped and gave a small signal.

"…We're here."

I nodded.

Then I stepped behind her.

Slap.

She collapsed instantly.

"Sorry."

I carried her to a nearby apartment building and tied her up tightly with the ropes.

No chance she was escaping that.

"Stay here," I murmured.

"I'll pick you up after the fight."

Then I returned outside and looked toward the building she had pointed out.

This was Reggie's base.

I should sneak in and kill one of them first to reduce the pressure in the fight.

Through one of the windows, I spotted a man sitting at a table.

Ah, that guy.

The sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro killed with his sword.

What was his name again…?

Didn't matter.

I slipped into the building silently.

The hallway smelled like dust and old food.

Broken lights flickered above.

I moved quietly down the corridor until I reached the room.

There he was.

Chizuru Hari.

He was sitting at a small table, casually eating something.

Completely unaware.

I walked up behind him and formed a flaming sword in my hand.

The moment he sensed my cursed energy, he turned back in shock.

But he was too slow.

I thrust the blade straight through his skull.

The sword pierced cleanly through his head exiting from the other side.

He died instantly. His body collapsed forward onto the table.

"…That was easier than I thought."

At that moment, my Kogane appeared beside me.

A small notification voice echoed in the room.

"You have earned 5 points."

I stared down at the corpse for a moment.

Then I looked around the room.

And that was when I noticed something sitting next to the body.

A cardboard box.

My eyes slowly lit up. I grinned.

"Now…" I picked up the box and placed it over my head.

"Should I continue doing Metal Gear Solid?"

Hehe.
