Chapter 39 – Anticipation and Celebrations

The preparations for Nadia Sofia's arrival and the upcoming baby shower had transformed our home into a hub of joyful activity. Adrian, typically immersed in his business, now found immense pleasure in the domestic details, often making notes on his phone about nursery rhymes or diaper brands. The palpable excitement for our daughter's arrival infused every corner of our lives.

On Friday morning, Adrian woke me with a gentle kiss, his hand already resting on my growing belly. "Good morning, my love. How are my two favorite girls doing today?"

"We're wonderful," I replied, stretching contentedly. My energy levels were high, and the sheer joy of anticipation filled me.

After breakfast, Adrian kissed my forehead, then my stomach. "I'm heading to work. My mom is coming over this afternoon to finalize the baby shower theme. Try not to let her go too wild with glitter." He winked, then left at 7 a.m.

I spent the morning tidying up, arranging the tiny baby clothes we had already accumulated, each item a soft promise of the future. The nursery, now fully decorated with Adrian's paint and Layla's artwork, felt warm and inviting.

At 3 p.m., Adrian's mother arrived, her arms laden with magazines, fabric swatches, and a dazzling array of decorative ideas. "Lila, my dear! For our little Nadia Sofia, only the best will do!" she declared, her eyes sparkling.

We spent hours discussing themes: celestial, garden, fairy tale. She had boundless energy, and her enthusiasm was infectious. We finally settled on a whimsical "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" theme, incorporating the stars and moons that Layla had so lovingly drawn for the nursery.

At 8 p.m., Adrian came home, his face lighting up when he saw the theme boards scattered across the living room table. He hugged me, then dropped to his knees, pressing a kiss to my growing belly. "Hello, Nadia Sofia. Grandma and Mama have been busy planning your big party."

I laughed. "Your mom is a force of nature. We settled on 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'."

He grinned. "Perfect. I knew she'd pick something magical."

We had dinner, discussing the final details of the baby shower: the invitations, the menu, the games. Adrian listened intently, offering his input where he could, clearly enjoying the collaborative effort.

After dinner, we settled onto the couch, Adrian's hand resting on my stomach.

"Lila," he said, his voice soft, contemplative.

"Yes?"

"It's amazing how much has changed. A few months ago, I couldn't even imagine this. This peace, this happiness, this family."

"It's real, Adrian. All of it."

He kissed my forehead. "I love you. So much."

"I love you too."

We sat there until 10 p.m., lost in dreams of our future, our little star, Nadia Sofia. He went to his office, and I to my room.

That night I opened the notebook.

*Day 160 – Finalized the baby shower theme: "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Adrian's mom is amazing. Adrian is so happy. Our little Nadia Sofia is already so loved.*

Under it:

*She's Lila. She's his wife. Her heart shines as brightly as the stars.*

Saturday morning brought with it a joyful task: choosing the baby shower invitations. Adrian, surprisingly, was deeply invested, poring over designs with a critical eye, ensuring they perfectly captured the celestial theme.

He kissed my stomach before leaving at 7 a.m., but not for work. "I'm taking Layla out for breakfast, just us. We have some important big sister business to discuss."

I smiled. "Have fun, my loves."

I spent the morning baking small treats for the baby shower, little star-shaped cookies that tied into our theme. The aroma filled the apartment, a sweet prelude to the celebrations to come.

At 1 p.m., Adrian and Layla returned, Layla clutching a beautifully wrapped gift. "Mama Lila! Baba and I got something for Nadia Sofia!" she shrieked, her eyes sparkling.

Adrian grinned. "She insisted."

Layla carefully unwrapped the gift, revealing a tiny, plush star mobile for the crib, perfectly matching the nursery theme. My eyes welled up. "It's beautiful, habibti. Thank you."

Layla beamed, then whispered conspiratorially, "And I told Baba all the songs I'm going to sing to her."

Adrian chuckled. "Indeed. We have a very talented big sister on our hands."

At 8 p.m., after dinner, we sat on the couch, Adrian's hand resting on my stomach.

"Lila," he said, his voice full of pride.

"Yes?"

"Layla is so ready to be a big sister. She talks about Nadia Sofia constantly. It makes me so happy."

"She's going to be wonderful."

He kissed my forehead. "I love you. Our little family is perfect."

"I love you too."

We sat there until 10 p.m., relishing the quiet joy of our little family. He went to his office, and I to my room.

That night I opened the notebook.

*Day 161 – Layla and Adrian got a beautiful star mobile for Nadia Sofia. Layla is beyond excited to be a big sister. Her love for Nadia Sofia is already so evident.*

Under it:

*She's Lila. She's his wife. Blessed with two amazing daughters.*

Sunday morning, the focus shifted to the guests for the baby shower. Adrian and his mother had compiled a substantial list, and now it was time to finalize it and send out invitations.

He kissed my stomach before leaving at 7 a.m. for a morning run.

I spent the morning writing out the invitations by hand, personalizing each one, ensuring everyone felt the warmth of our anticipation.

At 4 p.m., Mrs. Cole called, her voice full of excitement. "Lila, dear! Layla wants to help with the baby shower invitations! She thinks she's a professional artist now."

I laughed. "That's wonderful! Tell her she can come over after dinner tonight and help me put stickers on them."

At 8 p.m., Adrian came home, refreshed from his run. He hugged me, then our baby. "Hello, Nadia Sofia. Papa just finished his guest list. Your party is going to be huge."

I smiled. "Layla is coming to help with the invitations after dinner."

He grinned. "Perfect. She takes her artistic duties very seriously."

Layla arrived shortly after with Mrs. Cole, clutching a bag of star-shaped stickers. She meticulously placed a sticker on each envelope, her tongue peeking out in concentration. Her dedication was adorable.

After she went home, Adrian and I sealed the envelopes, a tangible step closer to the celebration.

After dinner, we settled onto the couch, Adrian's hand resting on my stomach.

"Lila," he said, a contented sigh escaping him.

"Yes?"

"Everything feels so right. So complete. The house, the family, the anticipation. It's a beautiful symphony."

"It truly is, Adrian."

He kissed my forehead. "I love you."

"I love you too."

We sat there until 10 p.m., discussing the week ahead, the final arrangements for the baby shower, and the general feeling of blissful calm that had settled over our home. He went to his office, and I to my room.

That night I opened the notebook.

*Day 162 – Layla helped with the baby shower invitations. Her little stickers make them so special. Adrian is beaming. The baby shower is just around the corner.*

Under it:

*She's Lila. She's his wife. Surrounded by love and endless joy.*

Monday morning, the baby shower invitations were officially mailed out, marking another significant step in our journey towards welcoming Nadia Sofia. Adrian, with his meticulous nature, had even tracked the postage.

He kissed my stomach before leaving for work at 7 a.m.

I spent the morning planning the menu for the baby shower, consulting with Adrian's mother, who had an endless supply of recipes perfect for a tea party.

At 4 p.m., Mrs. Cole called, her voice brimming with excitement. "Lila, dear! Layla is already picking out her outfit for the baby shower! She wants to look like a princess for her baby sister."

My heart melted. "Tell her she'll be the most beautiful princess there!"

At 8 p.m., Adrian came home, a soft, happy smile on his face. He hugged me, then our baby. "Hello, Nadia Sofia. Your big sister is already planning her baby shower ensemble."

I laughed. "She's so sweet."

"She is," he agreed. "My mom confirmed all the RSVPs are coming in. It's going to be a big one."

We had dinner, discussing the growing list of attendees and the final menu. The reality of the celebration was truly setting in.

After dinner, we settled onto the couch, Adrian's hand resting on my stomach.

"Lila," he said, his voice full of warmth.

"Yes?"

"I can't wait for you to see all the love that will be poured onto Nadia Sofia at her shower. She is going to be so cherished."

My eyes welled up. "I know, Adrian. She already is."

He kissed my forehead. "I love you. All three of you."

"I love you too."

We sat there until 10 p.m., filled with a sense of happy anticipation, discussing the tiny gifts that would soon fill our home. He went to his office, and I to my room.

That night I opened the notebook.

*Day 163 – Baby shower invitations sent out. Layla is excited about her outfit. Adrian's mom is handling everything beautifully. Our little Nadia Sofia is going to be showered with so much love.*

Under it:

*She's Lila. She's his wife. A heart bursting with love for her growing family.*

I closed the notebook, a profound sense of gratitude washing over me. The baby shower was just around the corner, a beautiful celebration of the new life we were bringing into the world. Our family, complete and thriving, was ready to embrace this next, wonderful chapter.
