After he finished speaking, Andrew Shaw immediately changed the subject. "Let's go, let's go. Dawn is breaking, time to get some sleep!"
"This is the best time to sleep. Once noon hits, it'll be too hot to get any rest at all. And if we don't sleep now, we won't have the energy to get anything done tonight."
Felix Lawrence was easily distracted, and the two of them headed outside, chatting and laughing as they went.
In the distance, Andrew Shaw's voice, growing bolder, could be heard. "Mr. Lawrence, say... can't we really have a barbecue here? I'm already five or six years old and I've never even tasted what barbecue is like! Can't you grant me this little wish?"
"Get outta here! Barbecue? In all my years, I haven't touched the stuff. Forget meat, we don't even have vegetables! Even the charcoal for the grill is scarce. You tell me, which one of those isn't a precious resource? Where do you expect me to get any of it?"
