Outside, rain continued to pour from the sky. Megan Kane hummed a pleasant tune, soaking in the bathtub.
BAM! The wooden bathroom door was violently kicked open.
Jason Forrester calmly began unbuttoning his shirt. The muscles of his upper body were sharply defined, and as for his lower half... it was best not to look.
Megan Kane swallowed hard. 'Even after seeing it so many times, that body is still captivating.'
She splashed the water with her hands, trying to get his attention.
'Stop undressing! There's someone in the tub!'
"Patience. You'll get what you want soon enough."
A sinister smile played on Jason Forrester's lips. He had completely misunderstood Megan Kane.
Before Megan Kane could scramble out of the water, a fierce, scorching kiss crashed down on her lips.
Jason Forrester gripped Megan Kane's chin as he stepped into the tub.
Then he flipped her over and pulled her into his embrace.
"You hit someone downstairs. I'll let that slide."
"But don't push your luck."
"I'm not known for my good temper."
Jason Forrester yanked off his tie and blindfolded Megan Kane with it.
"Jason Forrester, I don't feel well. Can we do this tomorrow?"
Megan Kane could feel his arousal pressing against her.
But she truly couldn't endure another storm.
Her entire body ached as if it were about to fall apart; she still hadn't recovered from the day before.
Jason Forrester said nothing, his embrace only tightening.
The rain poured down endlessly, while inside, a fire raged.
The more Megan Kane looked at the man lying beside her, the angrier she became. She lashed out with her foot, kicking him hard on his chiseled abs.
A smile on his face, Jason Forrester raised an eyebrow. "Not had enough yet, wife? How about I serve you again?"
As he spoke, he moved to roll over, as if he couldn't get enough.
Megan Kane couldn't escape, but to her relief, a familiar cry sounded from outside the door.
Jason Forrester's anger flared. "Blair White, you keep crying and see if I don't rip your tongue out tomorrow!"
He had no idea where Blair White found the audacity to come cry right on his doorstep.
Megan Kane breathed an inward sigh of relief. Her body could finally get a moment's rest.
Just as the crying stopped and Jason Forrester was about to relax, a knock sounded at the door.
The butler's voice was filled with disbelief. "Mr. Forrester, Miss White was hit by a car as she ran out."
"We've called for an ambulance. They're on their way."
The butler tried to keep his voice even. "It was so sudden. No one could have expected a car crash on a night like this."
Megan Kane's face was a mask of disbelief. "A car crash? Right at the gates of our estate? Are you sure you're not mistaken?"
She thought it was all too suspicious and couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
A strong sense of unease settled deep within Megan Kane.
Jason Forrester grabbed his suit jacket from the headboard. "Something isn't right."
"Wait here for me. I'll go handle this."
Megan Kane nodded, then opened her phone to a screen filled with rampant rumors.
They were all about a fatal accident at a Forrester Group construction site.
She was about to tell Jason Forrester, but he was already gone.
Rowan Monroe poked her head into the room and asked softly.
"What happened? Why did he leave in such a rush?"
"Did you two fight again? I thought couples' arguments were settled in bed."
Rowan Monroe didn't want them to keep fighting.
'Living here makes me so anxious,' she thought.
Megan Kane handed her the phone. What was happening now couldn't be explained in a few words.
"There was an incident at a Forrester Family construction site, Blair White got into a car crash at the estate gate, and he went to deal with it."
She couldn't help but feel it was a conspiracy against the Forrester Family.
After all, the Forrester Family had always been a tall tree attracting the wind; who knew how many grudges they'd earned in private over the years.
Besides, Jason Forrester himself is a total psycho. The line of people who hate him could probably stretch clear to another country.
Rowan Monroe could barely contain her smile. "Isn't this great? We can finally escape this prison."
"You haven't actually fallen for him, have you?"
"Don't you forget, he kidnapped you and brought you here!"
Rowan Monroe felt something was off about her best friend's mood.
'Could she have really fallen for him? But they're from two different worlds; they're completely wrong for each other.'
Megan Kane shook her head with a bitter smile. "What would I be worried about? We're completely incompatible. If something happens to him, it's my chance to get away."
Her words said one thing, but the restless fidgeting of her hands betrayed her true feelings.
Rowan Monroe managed a strained smile. "A woman in love truly is a lost cause."
She shook her head. Anyone with eyes could see the sheer worry on Megan Kane's face.
Before they could say more, the butler came running back, interrupting them again.
"Miss Kane, the authorities have taken Mr. Forrester away! It's all come to light—he's suspected of involvement in a violent incident from years past."
Megan Kane's eyelid twitched violently. The calm she had just managed to find was utterly shattered.
"Should I go to the main residence and find the old master? What should I do?"
She was completely unprepared for something like this; her mind felt foggy.
There were a million things to say, but the words caught in her throat.
She couldn't think of a single solution.
"I'll get the car. We're going to the main residence now."
The butler didn't dare to waste a second. With Jason Forrester being taken away so suddenly, a competitor had to be pulling strings in the background.
Rowan Monroe caught Megan Kane, who had nearly stumbled and fallen. Her face was a picture of resignation.
'Megan Kane kept insisting she hadn't fallen for him.'
'But love sneaks up on you, and once it takes hold, it runs deep.'
'She was already caught in the trap of love.'
"Don't panic and lose your head. I'm sure there will be good news."
"For now, let's get to the main residence!"
'My best friend is going to be the death of me in this lifetime,' Rowan Monroe thought.
'I had a whole escape plan figured out, but how can I leave now?'
'My best friend is a wreck. If I don't help her, she'll just fall apart.'
The butler ran to the underground garage to get the car.
Mr. and Mrs. Kane were out shopping at the mall, oblivious to the rumors flying around online.
Besides, they were older and didn't spend all day glued to the internet.
So they were completely in the dark about everything that was happening.
The rain poured down relentlessly. Megan Kane sat in the car, her thoughts a tangled mess, fidgeting with her fingers without knowing what she was even thinking.
"Butler, can you please drive a little faster?"
Megan Kane stared at the time on her phone. Every second that ticked by was another alarm bell ringing in her heart.
Meanwhile, Blair White was in the hospital, drifting in and out of consciousness. She had no idea how she'd been hit by a car.
'She desperately wanted to see Jason by her side.'
'But unfortunately, there was already someone else by his side.'
'She didn't want to admit defeat, but in her daze, all she could do was close her eyes.'
