Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Turles: My Life is the Result of My Own Hard Work!

As the days passed, time flew by, and the story finally reached the Majin Buu Saga.

During this period, Turles had traveled to quite a few alternate timelines on his own, such as the Janemba timeline and the Wrath of the Dragon timeline. However, he had yet to set foot in the Dragon Ball Super timeline; after all, the waters there were a bit too deep.

Because of his constant jumping between dimensions, he had significantly increased the workload for the Supreme Kai of Time. Right now, that little goddess was scouring the timelines looking for him.

Supreme Kai of Time: Dammit, just wait until I find you! I'll give you a piece of my mind! Argh! This much paperwork... my life is so hard!

Turles was blissfully unaware of this, of course. But thanks to his influence, Gohan hadn't turned into "Nobi-Gohan." Although he still focused on his studies, his greatest interest was now martial arts. He frequently trained with Goku and Piccolo.

While they didn't clash every single day, their sessions provided a massive boost to Turles' strength. Every time they sparred, they dropped billions of attribute points. While it wasn't as much as a life-and-death struggle, the cumulative effect meant Turles' power level was skyrocketing.

By now, Goku and the others were far stronger than they were in the original story. With someone like Turles ahead of them to chase, their growth was naturally accelerated.

Furthermore, Goku had stopped asking Turles for spars. In his own words: "He one-shots me every time. What's the fun in a fight like that?"

Instead, he turned his sights on Vegeta. This annoyed Vegeta to no end. What? You can't beat Turles so you come crawling back to me?

The two had a massive battle, and in the end, Vegeta found he still couldn't beat Goku. This infuriated the Prince, who proceeded to lock himself in the Gravity Chamber and refused to come out for days.

Whenever Vegeta ran into Turles, he would even humbly ask for advice on training. Turles was generous with his guidance; after all, these guys were high-quality "leeks" waiting to be harvested for attributes.

One day, seeing Gohan visit Bulma to ask for a transformation device, Turles knew it was official—the Majin Buu Saga had begun!

"Yo, Gohan. Looks like you've been working hard on your training. Not bad."

Looking at Gohan's base power level of 6 billion, Turles nodded in approval. This was strength earned through genuine effort.

It was unlike his own power, which was entirely the result of his own "hard work."

Turles: Godfather, aid me!

While he did maintain his own training, the battle power picked up by the system far outstripped his manual gains.

"Ah, Uncle Turles. It's nothing, really. I'm still far behind Dad and Uncle Vegeta."

"No, Gohan. Your potential is greater than you imagine."

Just then, Bulma walked over and tossed a device to Gohan.

"Alright, Gohan. This is for you. Just press the button on the watch."

Gohan pressed it, and a full costume—complete with a helmet—instantly encased him. Gohan looked at the change and even broke out into a few poses.

Bulla looked on with a face full of pure disgust.

Turles' eye twitched. Wait? In this timeline, Gohan never met those Ginyu Force-esque weirdos... How did he still end up coming up with those "beyond-the-era" poses?

"Thank you so much, Aunt Bulma! You've really helped me out."

"As long as it helps..."

"I really appreciate it. Oh, by the way, Uncle Turles, are you going to participate in the World Martial Arts Tournament?"

Turles shook his head. "I'll pass on participating. I'll come along to watch, though."

"The World Martial Arts Tournament?"

Bulla's eyes lit up. "Daddy, Daddy! I want to join the tournament!"

"Sure. If you want to go have some fun, go ahead."

"Yay! I'm going to go tell Trunks. Bye, Dad!"

Watching Bulla dash out excitedly, Turles sighed. You don't want to join a tournament; you just want an official excuse to beat up Trunks. I almost feel bad exposing you.

Bulma frowned at Bulla's retreating figure and gave Turles a sharp pinch on the waist. "Look at how you've spoiled her!"

Turles gave a sheepish laugh, pulling Bulma into a hug to appease her. "She's still a kid. She'll grow out of it."

Gohan took the hint and hurriedly excused himself.

Bulma rolled her eyes at Turles. "You always have an excuse. But it has been a while since we've seen Goku and the others. This will be a good reunion."

"Yeah. It's about time we saw the old gang again..."

When the day of the Tenkaichi Budokai arrived, Turles' family took a jet plane to the stadium.

"Yo! Everyone's here!"

As soon as they stepped off the plane, Turles spotted Goku's family, Vegeta's family, Krillin, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Master Roshi. As for Piccolo? He was basically part of the Son family now.

After exchanging greetings, the group headed into the venue.

This time, things were different from the original story. Since Goku hadn't died during the Cell Games and fought Vegeta constantly, neither of them bothered to enter the Adult Division. According to Vegeta, he and Kakarot were sick of fighting each other anyway—why do it on a stage?

However, Gohan still secretly entered because of Videl. Turles couldn't help but feel that Gohan had finally grown up.

Bulla, Trunks, and Goten entered the Junior Division.

There was no suspense. After carving through the competition, Bulla defeated Goten, leading to a final showdown with Trunks.

Looking at Bulla's devilish little smirk, Trunks swallowed hard.

He had a genuine psychological shadow when it came to his older sister. She spent half her time pranking him; who could handle that?

To make matters worse, if his father heard about it, Vegeta would just scold him for being unable to beat a girl and then drag him into a session of "training from hell."

Now that Bulla was standing in front of him again, he gathered his courage. "Hmph! Bulla, I'm going to win this time! I've been training hard with my dad!"

"Is that so, Trunks? I guess it's time to remind you why you should fear your big sister..."

The two children took their stances.

"Ha!"

"Hmph!"

They charged at each other simultaneously.

Swish! Swish!

The two blurred across the ring at high speeds, leaving a trail of afterimages.

"What?! What is this? Is it sleight of hand? How can two kids fight like this?"

"Incredible! I can't even see them!"

"Stage tricks! It must be stage tricks!"

The audience was stunned by the children's battle. Of course, that last comment came from Mr. Satan, who was peeking from behind the scenes.

As the previous champion, he was supposed to spar with the Junior Division winner. But the moment he saw them fight, he immediately started looking for an exit.
