Chapter 3
The Karma System
Morning light slowly spread across the royal palace of Hastinapur.
Golden rays of sunlight entered through the tall carved windows of the prince's chamber, illuminating the polished marble floor and the intricate tapestries that decorated the walls.
Outside, the sounds of palace life had already begun.
Servants moved through corridors.
Royal guards changed their watch.
Messengers ran through the courtyards carrying urgent news.
The entire palace was buzzing with excitement because of one simple announcement:
"Rajkumar Duryodhana has awakened."
Inside the chamber, however, everything was quiet.
Aditya—now living inside the body of the ten-year-old prince Duryodhana—sat silently on the edge of the royal bed.
His mind was filled with memories from two lives.
The first was his life in the modern world.
The second was the life he had just regained in this ancient kingdom.
And above all those memories stood the image of one divine figure.
Shani Dev.
The god who had given him a mission.
To rewrite destiny.
To change the fate of the Mahabharata.
Aditya slowly looked at his hands.
Small.
Young.
Yet belonging to the prince who history would one day call the greatest villain of the epic.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Well," he murmured softly, "looks like destiny has a strange sense of humor."
Then he spoke quietly inside his mind.
"System."
For a brief moment nothing happened.
Then a familiar mechanical sound echoed in his head.
DING
A translucent blue screen appeared before his eyes.
The calm voice of the system responded.
Welcome back, Host.
Aditya leaned back slightly against the soft cushions of the royal bed.
"Good," he said calmly.
"Now that my memories have returned, I think it's time you properly explain everything."
The system replied immediately.
Acknowledged. Beginning full system introduction.
Aditya folded his arms.
"First question."
"What exactly is the Karma System, and why did Shani Dev give it to me?"
The blue screen flickered slightly.
New information appeared.
The Karma System is a divine monitoring and reward mechanism created under the authority of Shani Deva, the cosmic judge of karma and justice.
Its purpose is to observe the Host's actions and measure their karmic impact upon the world.
Aditya nodded slowly.
"So if I perform good deeds, I earn karma points."
Correct.
"And if I do something evil?"
The system answered without hesitation.
Negative karma will be recorded and penalties may occur.
Aditya sighed.
"So it's not some overpowered cheat system."
Correct.
The Karma System does not exist to make the Host invincible.
Its purpose is to guide the Host toward actions that stabilize destiny and reduce suffering.
Aditya chuckled softly.
"That sounds exactly like something Shani Dev would design."
The screen shifted again.
---
KARMA SYSTEM STATUS
Host: Duryodhana (Aditya)
Age: 10
Karma Points: 0
Primary Mission:
Rewrite the Fate of the Mahabharata
---
Aditya studied the screen carefully.
"So karma points are basically the currency of this system."
"Yes," he muttered thoughtfully.
"But what exactly can I do with them?"
The system replied calmly.
Karma points can be exchanged for rewards including knowledge, abilities, spiritual growth, martial enhancement, and divine blessings.
Aditya's eyes lit up slightly.
"Now that sounds interesting."
He leaned forward.
"System… explain the power structure of this world."
The screen shimmered.
Beginning world power system explanation.
---
The Three Primary Paths of Power
The system began speaking in a calm and informative tone.
In this world, power is divided into three primary paths.
Aditya listened carefully.
These paths are:
1. Yogic Power
2. Warrior Mastery
3. Divine Blessings
Aditya rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Alright."
"Let's start with Yogic power."
---
Yogic Power
The system continued.
Yogic power refers to the cultivation of internal life energy known as Prana.
Through meditation, discipline, and spiritual practice, an individual can strengthen their mind, body, and soul.
Aditya nodded.
"So this is the power used by sages and rishis."
Correct.
The screen displayed a progression chart.
---
YOGIC CULTIVATION LEVELS
1. Prana Awakening
2. Inner Balance
3. Chakra Opening
4. Rishi State
5. Maharishi State
6. Deva Consciousness
---
Aditya whistled softly.
"So the highest level basically turns someone into a godlike being."
Correct.
Individuals who reach Deva Consciousness possess power comparable to celestial beings.
Aditya scratched his head.
"Yeah… reaching that level probably takes a few lifetimes."
---
Warrior Mastery
The system continued its explanation.
The second path of power is Warrior Mastery.
Aditya straightened slightly.
"Now this one sounds more practical."
The system explained.
Warrior mastery refers to the development of physical strength, combat techniques, weapon mastery, and battlefield awareness.
Aditya immediately thought of legendary warriors.
"So people like Bhishma, Arjuna, and Karna follow this path."
Correct.
The screen displayed another chart.
---
WARRIOR RANKS
1. Trainee Warrior
2. Skilled Fighter
3. Elite Warrior
4. Maha-Yoddha
5. Legendary Warrior
6. Divine Champion
---
Aditya nodded slowly.
"So most soldiers are probably level two or three."
Correct.
"And Bhishma or Karna?"
Legendary Warrior level.
Aditya exhaled slowly.
"Those guys are monsters."
---
Divine Blessings
The system continued.
The third path of power is Divine Blessings.
Aditya raised an eyebrow.
"You mean powers granted by gods?"
Correct.
The system explained further.
Through devotion, penance, or destiny, certain individuals receive celestial weapons known as Astras.
Aditya immediately remembered stories.
"Like Brahmastra… or Pashupatastra."
Correct.
These weapons contain immense destructive power and must be used with great responsibility.
Aditya sighed.
"Yeah… the Kurukshetra war proved that."
---
Aditya crossed his arms thoughtfully.
"System… something still feels missing."
The system responded immediately.
Observation correct.
Aditya raised an eyebrow.
"Oh?"
The screen flickered.
There exists a fourth path of power.
Aditya leaned forward.
"And what is that?"
The system answered.
The power of the Asuras.
Aditya's expression changed instantly.
"Asuras?"
His mind recalled countless mythological stories.
Creatures of immense strength.
Enemies of the gods.
Beings born from ambition and chaos.
"System… are you telling me Asuras exist in this world?"
Yes.
They have existed since ancient times.
---
The Asura Power System
The screen displayed another chart.
---
ASURA POWER LEVELS
1. Asura Spawn
2. Rakshasa Warrior
3. Greater Asura
4. Demon Lord
5. Asura King
6. Primordial Asura
---
The system explained.
Asuras cultivate destructive energy known as Asuric Shakti.
Unlike Yogic power which seeks balance, Asuric power thrives on chaos, rage, ambition, and domination.
Aditya nodded slowly.
"So the more unstable the world becomes… the stronger Asuras become."
Correct.
The system added calmly.
Large conflicts such as the Kurukshetra War generate immense karmic imbalance, which strengthens Asuric forces.
Aditya sighed.
"So preventing that war isn't just about saving a family."
"It's about preventing the world from falling into chaos."
Correct.
---
The First Karma Quest
Suddenly the system screen flashed.
DING
Aditya blinked.
"What now?"
A new notification appeared.
---
FIRST KARMA QUEST
Objective: Guide the Kaurava Princes
Description:
As the eldest prince, your beliefs will shape the mindset of your brothers.
Teach the Kauravas discipline and wisdom.
Help them understand that power, wealth, and the kingdom do not belong to them alone.
Prevent arrogance and hatred from growing within the royal family.
Reward:
+500 Karma Points
Basic Warrior Insight
---
Aditya stared at the quest for several seconds.
Then he slowly exhaled.
"So instead of conquering kingdoms…"
"You want me to fix my own family."
Correct.
Aditya chuckled quietly.
"That might actually be harder."
The system responded calmly.
Large destinies are shaped by small beginnings.
Aditya stood up slowly.
Outside the chamber he could hear the footsteps of royal guards approaching.
His gaze moved toward the palace courtyard visible through the window.
Young princes would soon gather there for training.
His brothers.
The future Kauravas.
Aditya clenched his small fist.
"For generations the Kauravas believed everything belonged to them."
"If that arrogance continues…"
"The tragedy of the Mahabharata will repeat."
The system spoke quietly.
Correct.
Aditya smiled faintly.
"Then before I change the fate of kingdoms…"
"I'll start by changing the mindset of my brothers."
The system responded.
Quest initiated.
Aditya walked toward the door of the chamber.
His eyes gleamed with determination.
"Let's begin rewriting history."
