Chapter 2
The Judgment of Shani
The white universe trembled.
The blinding light that had exploded moments earlier slowly settled into a steady glow, illuminating the endless realm around Aditya.
For a few seconds he remained frozen where he stood, his mind still struggling to process what had just happened.
The vast white space stretched infinitely in every direction, yet somehow it did not feel empty.
Instead, the entire realm felt alive.
Heavy.
Sacred.
Like standing inside the heart of the universe itself.
Then—
A figure began to form before him.
At first it was only a small point of light.
But that point expanded slowly, unfolding into a towering silhouette that radiated immense power.
Aditya instinctively took a step back.
The figure continued growing until it stood nearly ten feet tall, its presence dominating the entire realm.
His skin carried the deep blue-black shade of storm clouds gathering before thunder.
His eyes glowed faintly like distant stars hidden in the night sky.
Above his head floated a dark feather resembling the crown of a celestial ruler.
In his hand rested a heavy iron staff that seemed capable of delivering judgment upon entire worlds.
The air around him carried an invisible pressure.
Not the pressure of anger.
But the pressure of absolute authority.
Aditya felt his heart pound violently.
This… this presence…
His body moved before his mind could even react.
Without thinking, he fell to his knees.
His forehead touched the smooth white floor.
"My Lord…"
His voice trembled with awe and fear.
The divine figure watched him silently for a moment.
Then the god gently placed a hand on Aditya's shoulder.
The touch carried enormous power.
Yet at the same time it felt strangely warm.
Like the reassuring touch of a father.
Aditya slowly lifted his head.
The god's gaze met his.
Calm.
Ancient.
Unavoidable.
Then the divine being finally spoke.
"As you may already suspect, Aditya…"
His voice echoed through the entire realm like the sound of distant thunder.
"I am not a mere celestial messenger or guardian spirit."
The white universe darkened slightly.
A faint shadow moved across the sky.
Then the god completed his sentence.
"I am Shani."
The moment the name was spoken—
The entire realm trembled.
Dark golden energy rippled across the sky like waves in an endless ocean.
Aditya's eyes widened instantly.
"Shani…?"
His voice cracked.
"Shani Dev… the god of justice…?"
The divine figure nodded slowly.
"Yes."
Aditya immediately lowered his head again.
"Pranam, Prabhu!"
He felt an indescribable mixture of fear, respect, and awe flooding his heart.
Shani Dev—the celestial judge who governed karma itself.
Even kings and gods feared the consequences of his gaze.
Shani Dev raised his hand slightly.
A gentle force lifted Aditya back to his feet.
"You need not fear me, child," the god said calmly.
"I did not summon you here to punish you."
Aditya blinked in surprise.
"Then… Prabhu… why have I been brought here?"
For a moment, Shani Dev did not answer.
Instead he began walking slowly across the endless white realm.
Each step he took echoed softly, as though time itself moved along with him.
Then suddenly—
The empty space around them began changing.
Images appeared in the air like massive mirrors reflecting another world.
Golden palaces rose into view.
Ancient banners fluttered in the wind.
War elephants marched across battlefields.
Aditya stared in shock.
"This… this is…"
He whispered.
"Mahabharata."
Shani Dev nodded.
"Yes."
The images shifted again.
The palace of Hastinapur appeared.
Young princes played in the courtyard.
Pandavas.
Kauravas.
Laughter filled the air.
But slowly the scenes changed.
Bhima pushed the Kaurava children into the water while laughing.
Teachers praised the Pandavas more than the others.
Some princes stood proudly in the spotlight.
While others stood quietly in the shadows.
Aditya's gaze slowly focused on one boy.
A young prince standing slightly apart from the others.
His eyes carried anger.
Frustration.
Loneliness.
Aditya whispered.
"Duryodhana…"
The visions continued.
Years passed in seconds.
Politics.
Manipulation.
Humiliation.
Rivalry.
And finally—
The battlefield of Kurukshetra appeared.
Thousands of soldiers lay dead.
Broken chariots covered the ground.
The sky burned red from the fires of war.
At the center of the battlefield lay one man.
Duryodhana.
Defeated.
His body broken.
His kingdom lost.
Aditya clenched his fists tightly.
"That… that was not fair."
Shani Dev turned toward him.
"Oh?"
Aditya spoke with rising emotion.
"Everyone calls Duryodhana the villain of the Mahabharata."
"But no one talks about what he suffered!"
His voice grew stronger.
"As a child he was constantly bullied by Bhima."
"The teachers always favored the Pandavas."
"The elders of the kingdom judged him harshly before even understanding him."
He pointed toward the battlefield.
"Yet he never abandoned his friend Karna when the entire world mocked him."
"He fought bravely for what he believed was his right."
"And still history remembers him only as the villain."
Silence filled the white realm.
Shani Dev watched him carefully.
Then slowly…
A faint smile appeared on the god's face.
"You possess a rare perspective, Aditya."
Aditya looked confused.
Shani Dev continued.
"The injustice faced by Duryodhana was indeed immense."
"Yet the flow of destiny moved forward regardless."
The god raised his staff.
Golden threads suddenly appeared in the sky.
They connected countless events together like a giant cosmic web.
"This is Niyati," Shani Dev explained.
"The inevitable flow of destiny that binds every being in existence."
Aditya stared at the glowing threads.
"Even gods cannot freely change it."
Shani Dev's eyes met his.
"But sometimes…"
"A soul appears that has the potential to challenge fate itself."
Aditya felt a chill run down his spine.
Shani Dev spoke slowly.
"Aditya, your heart felt sympathy for the one whom history labeled a villain."
"You questioned the story written by time."
"And because of that…"
"Niyati has chosen you."
Aditya froze.
"Chosen… me?"
Shani Dev nodded.
"You will be given a chance."
"A chance to walk the path of the man you defended."
Aditya's heart began racing.
"Prabhu…"
Shani Dev's voice echoed powerfully.
"You will be reincarnated as Duryodhana."
The words struck Aditya like thunder.
He stood speechless.
"You will live his life."
"You will face his struggles."
"And you will confront the destiny that destroyed him."
Aditya swallowed nervously.
"And if I fail…?"
Shani Dev answered calmly.
"Then history will repeat itself."
Aditya slowly lifted his head.
"But if I succeed…?"
The god's eyes glowed faintly.
"Then even the fate of Mahabharata may change."
Aditya took a deep breath.
Then he spoke carefully.
"Prabhu… if I must challenge destiny itself…"
"I will need guidance."
Shani Dev smiled slightly.
"You humans and your novels."
The god raised his hand.
A golden light appeared.
"This is the Karma System."
The light entered Aditya's body.
DING
A mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
Karma System activated.
Shani Dev spoke.
"The more righteous deeds you perform, the more karma you shall gain."
"The greater stability you bring to the world, the greater rewards you shall receive."
Aditya nodded.
"I understand, Prabhu."
Shani Dev raised his staff again.
A golden portal opened beneath Aditya.
"It is time for your journey to begin."
Aditya bowed deeply.
"Thank you, Prabhu."
As his body faded into the portal—
Another voice suddenly echoed behind Shani Dev.
"Do you truly believe he can endure it?"
A mysterious old sage appeared.
Shani Dev bowed slightly.
"Gurudev."
The sage smiled.
"Niyati itself has chosen him…"
"And you even gave him your ansh."
Shani Dev looked toward the fading portal.
"The game has begun."
---
Warm sunlight touched Aditya's face.
His eyes slowly opened.
A luxurious palace ceiling appeared above him.
Before he could move—
A servant suddenly shouted loudly.
"The Prince has awakened!"
Footsteps erupted through the palace corridors.
"Rajkumar Duryodhana has opened his eyes!"
Aditya's mind buzzed.
Then a voice spoke inside his head.
DING
System reboot complete.
Aditya whispered.
"System…?"
Welcome back, Host.
The voice continued.
During your reincarnation, cosmic energy sealed both your memories and my functions. Yesterday you fell from a horse during training. The impact broke the seal, restoring your memories and activating the system.
Aditya slowly looked at his hands.
Small.
Young.
He looked toward a polished mirror.
A ten-year-old boy stared back.
The system spoke again.
Host identity confirmed.
Prince Duryodhana of Hastinapur.
Aditya slowly smiled.
"So… this is where destiny begins."
His eyes gleamed with determination.
"This time…"
"Mahabharata will not end the same way."
