For a moment, Aliana thought she must be imagining things when she stumbled back the moment she tried to pass through the door.
Unsure, she stepped cautiously toward the open doorway and raised her hand toward the threshold.
The instant her skin made contact, her heart stopped.
A thin veil of dark energy rippled outward like a stone dropped into calm water, yet her fingers hit a solid, impenetrable surface. It felt as though she were pressing against a seamless wall of glass.
