The silence didn't last.
It never did.
Not when it came to them.
Lin Mo stood alone
Or at least
That was what it looked like.
But the air still felt different.
Warmer.
As if something had just been there
And refused to completely leave.
His fingers moved slightly at his side.
Unconsciously.
Touching the place where Mo Ran had held him.
"…You should have left."
The words came out quietly.
But they weren't meant for himself.
A shadow shifted.
Behind him.
"…You're the one who told me to."
Lin Mo froze.
Slowly
He turned.
And there he was.
Mo Ran.
Standing closer than before.
As if he had never left at all.
Lin Mo's breath caught.
"…You didn't go."
"…You noticed?"
Silence.
"…You shouldn't be here," Lin Mo said again.
But this time
There was no strength behind it.
Mo Ran tilted his head slightly.
"…You're repeating yourself."
"And you're not listening."
A faint smirk appeared on Mo Ran's lips.
"…I am."
He stepped closer.
"…Just not to that part."
The distance between them disappeared too quickly.
Lin Mo didn't move.
Didn't step back.
Didn't stop him.
And that
That was the problem.
"…Why did you come back?" Lin Mo asked quietly.
Mo Ran didn't answer immediately.
Instead
His gaze dropped.
To Lin Mo's hand.
Then
Slowly
He reached out.
And grabbed his wrist again.
The same way as before.
Firm.
Possessive.
"…Why didn't you stop me?"
Lin Mo's breath hitched slightly.
"…I asked first."
"…Answer me."
Silence.
Lin Mo looked at him.
Because the truth was
He didn't know how to answer.
"…I didn't think I needed to."
Mo Ran's grip tightened.
"…You didn't think?"
His voice dropped.
"…Or you didn't want to?"
Lin Mo stilled.
Because
That was closer to the truth.
Mo Ran stepped even closer.
Now
There was no space left between them.
"…You keep doing that."
"…Doing what?"
"…Acting like you don't care."
Lin Mo's gaze softened slightly.
"…And you keep acting like you do."
Silence.
Mo Ran froze.
Just for a second.
Then,
He let out a quiet breath.
"…You're really difficult."
"…So are you."
Neither of them moved.
Neither of them looked away.
And for a moment
Everything else disappeared again.
The light.
The distance.
The rules.
All of it
Gone.
"…Why do you keep coming back?" Lin Mo asked again, softer this time.
Mo Ran didn't answer.
Not immediately.
Instead
He looked at him.
Really looked at him.
As if trying to understand something
Or maybe,
Trying to decide something.
"…Because you're here."
The words were quiet.
Simple.
But they hit harder than anything else.
Lin Mo's breath caught.
"…That's not a reason."
"It is for me."
Silence.
Lin Mo's heart beat faster.
"…You shouldn't say things like that."
"…Why?"
"Because you don't understand what they mean."
Mo Ran's eyes darkened slightly.
"…I understand enough."
A pause.
"…Do you?"
Lin Mo didn't answer.
Because
He wasn't sure anymore.
Mo Ran's hand moved again.
Not to grab
But to pull.
Gently.
Closer.
Lin Mo didn't resist.
Didn't pull away.
Didn't stop him.
And that...
That was worse than anything else.
"…You're not stopping me again," Mo Ran murmured.
"…Should I?"
A pause.
Mo Ran's gaze dropped slightly
To his lips
Then back to his eyes.
"…Try."
But his hand didn't loosen.
Lin Mo's breath caught.
Because for a moment
Just a moment
He almost did.
He almost pulled away.
But he didn't.
And that
That said everything.
The space between them grew heavier.
Tighter.
Dangerous.
"…Lin Mo"
A sudden shift.
Sharp.
The air cracked.
Both of them felt it.
Instantly.
Heaven.
Too close.
Too aware.
Lin Mo's expression changed.
"…They're here."
Mo Ran didn't move.
"…Then let them see."
"No."
The answer came immediately.
Stronger than before.
Mo Ran froze.
Because
There was something in Lin Mo's voice this time.
Something he hadn't heard before.
"…Go," Lin Mo said again, quieter now.
"…Before it's too late."
Silence.
For a moment
Mo Ran didn't move.
Didn't speak.
Didn't leave.
Then,
Slowly,
He stepped back.
The shadows began to gather around him again.
"…You're really good at this."
Lin Mo frowned slightly.
"…At what?"
"…Pushing me away."
The words were quiet.
But they stayed.
Lin Mo didn't answer.
Because
He didn't know how to deny it.
Mo Ran looked at him one last time.
"…But you're even worse at letting go."
And then,
He was gone.
The light returned.
The silence followed.
But this time,
It didn't feel empty.
Because something had changed.
Something that neither of them had said,
But both of them had felt.
To be continued… 🖤🔥
