Chapter 20 - The Pact of Blood and Mind

Time waits for no one—not even for those who can manipulate the perception of time itself. Months passed like fleeting shadows, and the tension in Konoha reached its boiling point. The air in the village grew thick, heavy with the scent of rain that never fell and the oppressive silence that precedes an execution.

Shin was now 10 years old, and Ino 7.

The night of the massacre was about to begin—but the void Shin projected at the heart of the Uchiha District disrupted the flow of fate.

Itachi stopped just meters away from his parents' house, his drawn blade glinting under the moonlight. The Mangekyō Sharingan was active, poised at the edge of the abyss.

Shin emerged from the shadows—not as an obstacle, but as a cold alternative.

— Stop, Itachi — Shin's voice was not a request; it was a command that resonated directly within the Uchiha's auditory nerves. — You're about to burn the forest to save a single tree. That's not logic. That's desperation.

Itachi did not turn, but his voice came out hoarse.

— Danzō left me no choice, Shin. It's the clan or the village. If I don't act, civil war begins at dawn.

— Danzō is a parasite feeding on your fear — Shin stepped forward, entering the Sharingan's field of vision without hesitation. — You want to save Sasuke? Then stop being a tool for a decrepit old man.

Shin expanded his Latent Induction, forming a dome of absolute silence around them. No one—not Root, not the Hokage's spies—would hear what came next.

— Your clan respects strength, Itachi. They follow lineage and power. If you eliminate the leaders of the rebellion and take the position of Clan Head by force, they'll have no choice but to submit. And as for Danzō… — Shin's eyes gleamed with calculated malice. — Leave Root to me.

Itachi finally turned to face him.

— You're proposing a coup within a coup? Supporting an Uchiha in power? The Hokage would never allow it.

— The Hokage wants peace, but he is slow. I want order — Shin crossed his arms. — I support you. One genius supports another because we know the future holds threats that demand Konoha stand united, not fractured. If you take control of your clan and cut away the rotten branches, I will do the same with Root. We will erase Danzō from history tonight.

Itachi hesitated for a timeless second. He looked toward his parents' house, then back at Shin's shadow. In that ten-year-old boy, he saw a resolve that transcended blind loyalty to the village. It was a vision of the future.

— Why would you do this, Shin? — Itachi asked.

— Because I don't want Ino to wake up in a village haunted by ghosts and hatred — Shin replied, touching the necklace on his chest. — And because one day, I'll need you at my side to protect what matters.

Itachi sheathed his sword. The Mangekyō pattern shifted. He would not slaughter innocents—he would claim the throne by right of strength.

— Go to the Root base — Itachi ordered, his voice now carrying the authority of a leader. — I'll deal with my clan's council. By dawn, Konoha will have a new face.

While Itachi subdued the Uchiha dissidents with overwhelming power, Shin moved like a phantom through Konoha's underground.

He used no kunai. No physical force.

Upon entering the Root base, Shin simply sat in a lotus position at the center of the main hall and entered Deep Combat Meditation. He emitted a mental infrasonic frequency that fried the nervous systems of every agent who tried to approach.

When Danzō appeared, ready to use his arm of Sharingan, he found himself unable to take even a single step. The air around Shin had become a sensory vacuum.

— You tried to manipulate a genius, Danzō — Shin's voice echoed inside the old man's mind, crushing his will. — But you forgot that in a vacuum, no one can hear you beg.

Shin did not kill him immediately. He used Latent Induction to erase every secret, every plan, every ounce of authority from Danzō's mind—reducing the "War Hawk" to an empty, catatonic shell before leaving the rest to the shadows.

When the sun rose, Konoha did not awaken to a massacre—but to a silent revolution.

Itachi Uchiha stood as the new Clan Head, having purged only the extremists. Danzō had "disappeared" during a failed mission.

Shin returned to the Yamanaka compound, exhausted but satisfied. He watched Ino heading to the Academy, laughing and playing with Sakura. She had no idea that the village's geopolitics had been rewritten that very night by two boys who refused to accept a tragic fate.

From atop the Konoha Police building, Itachi looked toward the Yamanaka clan and felt Shin's presence.

The pact was sealed.

The future of Konoha now belonged to the geniuses of the shadows.
