Vael's POV
Dad had arrived three days ago. Having both him and Mom in the house made the final days before the wedding feel complete. This morning, the entire place was already awake before the sun fully rose. Soft voices moved through the halls. The smell of coffee drifted from the kitchen. Every now and then a happy cry from one of the triplets floated up the stairs. Today was the day.
I stood in front of the mirror in our room, adjusting the cuffs of my white shirt. The fabric felt clean and new. Davis was beside me, tying his tie with focused hands. He frowned a little when the knot didn't sit right the first time, then fixed it carefully. Lirien sat on the edge of the bed, already dressed in his undershirt, watching us with a soft smile.
"You're both taking forever," he teased lightly. "The sun will be high before you finish."
Davis glanced at him through the mirror and smiled. "We're making sure we look good enough to stand next to you. That's important work."
